Amazon’s Prime Video to Release Ana Maria Orozco’s “Betty la Fea: The Story Continues” In July

Amazon’s Prime Video has revealed the premiere date for Betty la Fea: The Story Continues, the sequel to the Colombian telenovela starring the 50-year-old Colombian actress that inspired ABC’s, Ugly Betty.

Betty la Fea: The Story Continues, will see Orozco reprise her role of Betty alongside Jorge Enrique Abello. Returning cast members include Julián Arango, Natalia Ramírez, Lorna Cepeda, Luces Velásquez, Marcela Posada, Mario Duarte, Julio Cesar Herrera, Ricardo Vélez, Alberto León Jaramillo and Estefanía Gómez.

Rodrigo Candamil, Juanita Molin, Zharick León and Sebastián Osorio join the cast.

Betty, la fea: The Story Continues is an RCN Estudios production for Prime Video and tells the story of Beatriz Pinzón Solano 20 years after the conclusion of the original show. While an empowered and wiser Betty works hard on rebuilding her relationship with her teenage daughter Mila, her relationship with Armando begins to deteriorate, making her question if she made the right decision 20 years ago.

Yo soy Betty, la Fea, created by Fernando Gaitán, has aired in 180 countries, dubbed into 15 languages, and has been adapted in up to 28 territories, including India, South Africa, and the U.S.

After the telenovela’s original run, Colombia’s RCN produced a sequel series in 2001 which ran for one season.

Ugly Betty, starring America Ferrera, was inspired by the Colombian telenovela and ran for four seasons on ABC.

Telemundo most recently produced its own version in 2019, titled Betty in NY and starred Elyfer Torres.

Carlos Vives to Star in Disney+’s Latin American Series “El Club de Los Graves”

Carlos Vives is joining El Club

The 60-year-old Colombian singer, songwriter and actor has officially joined Disney+‘s new Latin American fiction series titled El Club de Los Graves.

The story follows Amaranto Molina (Vives), an unconventional music teacher who comes to teach at a school specialized in music education, governed by ancient formulas that ignores students who do not comply with the rules established by the commercial success.

The director of the institute, Eduardo Kramer (Julián Arango), chooses each year five students nicknamed Los Agudos to join the prestigious Teen Band of the school. Molina, then, is assigned as a teacher at Los Graves, a group of students who are left out of the selection because his talent does not meet market standards.

In this way and with disruptive methods, the eccentric teacher will undertake together with the boys a transformative musical journey that will help him heal wounds and will inspire each of the young people to express their unique talent, finding together a hopeful common path and at the same time, they will discover the mysterious past that the professor hides.

The cast of El club de Los Graves is made up of Catalina Polo, María Fernanda Marín, Manuela Duque, Salomé Camargo, Elena Vives, Brainer Gamboa, Kevin Bury, Gregorio Umaña, Pitizion, Juan Manuel Lenis, Juan Camilo González, Giseth, Zoila and Deisy Mariano, and Luis Fernando Salas.

The series will consist of 10 episodes of 30 minutes.

El Club de Los Graves, which will be shot in Colombia, will start airing in 2022.

Vives’ previous acting credits include La estrategia del caracol, La mujer doble and Cadena Braga.
