Nichols to Star in CW’s Archie Comics-Based Pilot “Riverdale”

Marisol Nichols is reporting for mom duty…

The 42-year-old part-Spanish/part-Mexican actress has been cast as Hermione Lodge in Riverdale, the CW pilot based on the Archie Comics characters from producer Greg Berlanti.

Marisol Nichols

Set in present time, Riverdale is a subversive take on Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes) and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small-town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade.

Nichols will play Hermione Lodge, Veronica’s upscale mother. Hermione has now returned to Riverdale, eager to start fresh with her daughter following the scandalous incarceration of her husband.

In the pilot, from Warner Bros. Television, Nichols also joins Ashleigh Murray (Josie), Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones), Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom) and Luke Perry (Archie’s dad Fred Andrews).

Nichols recurs as Desert Wolf on Teen Wolf, recurred on Criminal Minds and NCIS, and starred on ABC’s Good Christian Belles.

Nichols Lends Support to Everyone’s Kids, Everyone Gives’ National Giving Day

Marisol Nichols is fighting to eradicate child trafficking and human slavery…

The 40-year-old part-Spanish/part-Mexican actress recently lent her support to Everyone’s Kids, Everyone Gives’ National Giving Day on Tuesday, September 16.

Marisol Nichols

The campaign, hosted on crowdfunding site Razoo and featuring individual donors, fundraisers and more than 100 nonprofit organizations from all over the country, was seeking to raise $1 million during the special day of giving.

Nichols, whose philanthropic efforts on behalf of the fight have included multiple trips to Capitol Hill to help further anti-trafficking legislation, says its time to stop child trafficking, including sex trafficking, and human slavery.

“Everyone is born free and equal. We believe slavery was abolished with Abraham Lincoln; unfortunately human slavery is alive and well,” says Nichols, who first became involved with the issue through her mother-in-law Mary Shuttleworth’s organization, Youth for Human Rights International.

Nichols is chair of the advisory board for YHRI, which educates youth around the world about basic human rights, specifically the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In the U.S. alone, EKEG estimates 100,000 children are the victims of domestic trafficking each year, the equivalent of nearly 274 children per day.

Other supporters of the National Giving Day are Cindy McCain, musician Amanda Palmer, MTV Act, the Knight Foundation, Getty Images and Wondros.

“People aren’t aware of it and they think it only happens in Thailand, Africa or the Philippines but that’s not all, it happens here in America,” says Nichols. “The reason [human trafficking] is able to flourish so much is because no one knows about it, it’s kept in secret. … It is girls who are walking to school or who are taken at a mall, it’s girls being targeted and it’s everywhere, [human trafficking] knows no boundaries. In a normal world you would have people outraged and protesting in the streets if they knew [of the issue].”

A new public service announcement gives information on the issue as well as the number for the National Human Trafficking Resource Center hotline.

Coupled with the fundraiser, donors will be linked to a national public service announcement that will bring awareness to the National Human Trafficking hotline (888-373-7888), where people can call with anonymous crime tips or if they need help. Along with the fundraiser and PSA, Clear Channel Outdoor is participating in the campaign with a digital billboard push across 30 U.S. cities.

All proceeds from National Giving Day will be split between all of the participating nonprofit organizations.

Nichols to Guest Star on ABC’s “Private Practice”

Marisol Nichols is about to go all Bratt

The 38-year-old part-Spanish/part-Mexican actress, who showed her softer side on ABC’s gone-to-soon dramedy GCB, has landed a guest-starring role on Private Practice, according to TVGuide.com.

Marisol Nichols

The details on her role are being kept under wraps, but Nichols will appear reportedly be part of the Jake-centric episode, “The World According to Jake.”

Does this mean Nichols’ character will get in the middle of the blossoming relationship between Jake (Benjamin Bratt) and Addison (Kate Walsh)? Only time will tell…

Private Practice’s episode featuring Nichols is scheduled to air in mid-November

Nichols television credits include The Gates, 24 and Cold Case.

Private Practice airs Tuesdays at 10:00 pm ET on ABC.

Nichols Sheds Tough Girl Image to Become a Southern Belle…

She’s probably best known for playing a tough-as-nails special agent on Fox’s 24… But Marisol Nichols is about to girl-it-up!

The 38-year-old part-Spanish/part-Mexican actress is set to star in ABC’s midseason show Good Christian Belles.

Marisol Nichols

Nichols, best known for her role as Special Agent Nadia Yassir on the sixth season of 24, will appear as Heather Cruz, a catty Southern socialite on GCB.

“I haven’t been this girlie in a long time,” Nichols told reporters this week during a press conference with the cast. “It’s a good thing. I get to stretch [my acting] muscles in a lot of ways.”

Nichols, who also played a tough New York cop in the TV series Blind Justice, had to reportedly fight to land the pivotal role as the “queen of the gossip and glamorous” on the new dramadey. She even had to screen-test twice!

Produced by Sex and the City creator Darren Star, Good Christian Belles also stars Kristin Chenoweth, Annie Potts and Leslie Bibb.

The series is based on the book Good Christian Bitches by Kim Gatlin.
