MUBI Acquires UK/Ireland Rights to Michel Franco’s Diego Boneta-Starrer “New Order”

Diego Boneta’s latest film is heading across the pond…

Arthouse outfit MUBI has acquired all UK and Ireland rights to Michel Franco’s Venice Film Festival drama New Order, starring the 29-year-old Mexican singer and actor.

The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival and won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize.

Conceived six years ago, Franco’s timely class conflict drama sees a high-society wedding interrupted by the arrival of unwelcome guests as protests rage on the streets.

Parasite distributor Neon recently picked up the North American rights for the Spanish-language film. It will next play at BFI London Film Festival and Chicago International Film Festival. The movie also played at San Sebastian Film Festival and made its North American debut at Toronto.

Written, produced and directed by Franco, the film features an ensemble cast comprised of Boneta, Naian González Norvind, Darío Yazbek BernalLisa OwenFernando CuautleMónica Del CarmenEligio MeléndezPatricia Bernal, Roberto Medina, Enrique Singer and Gustavo Sánchez Parra. 

Boneta served as an executive producer on the project.

Neon has acquired the North American rights to Mexican filmmaker Michel Franco’s latest feature New Order, starring the 29-year-old Mexican singer and actor.

The Martinez Brothers to Take the Stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival

The Martinez Brothers are headed to the California desert…

The Latino-American duo of disc jockeys, music producers, and remixers from The Bronx have been added to the lineup for the 2017 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The full roster was announced Tuesday (Jan. 3) on the festival’s official website, and features Radiohead, Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar as the headliners for both weekends of the fest. Also featured in the lineup are the xx, Travis Scott, Father John Misty, Future, Bon Iver, DJ Snake, Tove Lo, DJ Khaled and New Order.

It’s the latest high-profile gig for The Martinez Brothers, comprised of brothers Steven and Chris Martinez.

They’ll appear at the SXM Festival in March.

Taking place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, over the weekends of April 14-16 and April 21-23,

Passes for Coachella will go on sale at 11:00 am PST on Wednesday, January 4.

Blacc Covers Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” for amfAR’s New AIDS Benefit Compilation, “The Time is Now”

Aloe Blacc is giving one of the King of Pop’s hits a modern makeover… And, it’s all for charity.

The 37-year-old Panamanian American singer-songwriter, who is participating in Netflix’s animated Beatles-themed series Beat Bugs, is one of the featured artists on for amfAR‘s new AIDS benefit compilation, The Time is Now.

The 14-track, 1980s-inspired covers album will be released October 7 via Republic Records and Mass Appeal with proceeds benefiting AIDS research foundation amfAR.

The first track released from the set is Blacc’s bluesy cover of Michael Jackson‘s classic “Billie Jean.”

In addition to Blacc, the compilation album includes tracks by Phantogram, DNCE, LP, Theophilus London and more.

Among the songs featured on the new album are Tina Turner‘s “What’s Love Got to Do With It” revamped by DNCE, Dita Von Teese and Sebastien Tellier taking on Culture Club‘s “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me” and New Order‘s “Bizarre Love Triangle” covered by Sugar for Sugar, a band consisting of Scarlett Johansson, Julia Haltigan, Holly Miranda and Kendra Morris.

Aguayo to Participate in Barcelona’s Sonar 2016

Matias Aguayo has landed his next gig…

Sónar, the Barcelona electronic music and digital arts festival, has announced its first round of performers, with the 42-year-old Chilean record producer forming part of the lineup.

ANOHNI, an alias for Antony Hegarty from Antony and the Johnsons, will present the European premiere of HOPLESSNESS, the project with producers Oneohtrix Point Never and Hudson Mohawke. John Luther Adams’ climate change opera Become Ocean will also have its European premiere during the festival, which is set to take place next year on June 16,17 and 18.

New Order, John Grant and Fatboy Slim will also perform at the 23rd Sónar in Barcelona.

Additionally, organizers announced a special “SónarGift” pack for holiday giving. It features general pass for all festival days “plus a number of exclusive surprises,” priced at about $191 USD.
