Cardi B’s Character Appears in New “Baby Shark’s Big Movie” Trailer

A new trailer has been released for Baby Shark’s Big Movie, starring the 31-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning singer and actress.

Cardi BIn addition to Cardi B, her rapper-husband Offset and their children, Kulture and Wave, the film also features Lance Bass and ENHYPEN.

All play their aquatic alter-egos in the animated children’s film arriving on December 8 on Nickelodeon and Paramount+.

The project marks the very first feature-length endeavor for Baby Shark, the hit preschool television program best known for its viral earworm of the same name, which charted in the Billboard Hot 100 top 40 in 2019.

The fishy film will find Cardi and Offset reprising their roles from Baby Shark Big Show!, Sharki B and Offshark, while the rap power couple’s two kids will voice Kulture Sharki and Wavey Shark. The family has been all aboard the “Baby Shark” train since the beginning, starting with Cardi posting an Instagram video in January 2019 of her doing a runway walk around a pool to the “Baby Shark” song.

“Good luck!” says Offset’s character toward the end of the two-minute trailer, with Cardi’s Sharki B telling Baby Shark: “You got this!”

The film will follow Baby Shark, voiced by Kimiko Glenn, as he works to save his best friend William, played by Luke Youngblood, from Ashley Tisdale’s Stariana, a jealous pop superstar who plots to steal Baby Shark’s special song for herself. Along the way, he encounters a boy band of belugas voiced by the seven members of ENHYPENHeeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon and Ni-ki — as well as a TV announcer named Lance Bass, played by… you guessed it, Lance Bass.

The 30-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar has joined the voice cast of the upcoming animation film Baby Shark’s Big Movie!

Cardi BThe film is the first feature-length spin-off from Baby Shark’s Big Show!, a pre-school series which began in 2021 on Nickelodeon-branded channels and platforms and is now in its second season.

The show is co-produced by Nickelodeon Animation and Seoul, Korea-based The Pinkfong Company and directed by Alan Foreman. Its narrative follows Baby Shark and his family as they move to Chomp City, the big city of sharks.

Cardi B is joined by several members of her own family. While the multi-platinum icon portrays Sharki B, her partner and fellow musician Offset gives voice to Offshark, while children Kulture plays Kulture Shark and Wave as Wavey Shark.

The film is set to premiere later this year exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S and shortly after on Paramount+ internationally where the service is available. In Korea, Southeast Asia and China, the film is distributed by The Pinkfong Company. Paramount+ is carried as a branded block in Korea on the CJ ENM-controlled platform Tving.

The film will also star regular voice actors from the Baby Shark’s Big Show series, including: Kimiko Glenn as Baby Shark; Luke Youngblood as William; Natasha Rothwell as Mommy Shark; Eric Edelstein as Daddy Shark; Debra Wilson as Grandma Shark; and Patrick Warburton as Grandpa Shark.

In other, guest roles, the movie will be voiced by Ashley Tisdale, as Stariana, a sharp-witted and manipulative rising pop starfish who wants to take center stage with a splash hit; Aparna Nancherla; Ego Nwodim; Chloe Fineman; K-pop act Enhypen as a band of belugas; and Lance Bass as a TV announcer.

According to a synopsis from the producers Baby Shark’s Big Movie! sees Baby Shark forced to leave behind the world he loves after his family moves to the big city. He must adjust to his new life without his best friend, William. When Baby Shark encounters an evil pop starfish named Stariana who plans to steal his gift of song in order to dominate all underwater music, he must break her spell to restore harmony to the seas.

The show had its origins as “Pinkfong Baby Shark,” which launched on YouTube in November 2015 and became the world’s first video to hit 10 billion views on the platform. It has generated hit songs and the viral phenomenon, #BabySharkChallenge, which generated over 1 million cover videos around worldwide.

The 29-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar appears on the soundtrack of Nickelodeon’s popular animated series Baby Shark’s Big Show!.

On the episode, Cardi’s character will teach Baby Shark and his best friend William her catchy, viral-ready dance craze “The Seaweed Sway,” before performing it onstage.

“Every fishy can do the seaweed sway/ Do it how you want to do it, or do it Sharki B’s way/ You can take a big bite/ Shake your tail or your fins, let’s begin,” Cardi raps in the adorable video, joined by husband Offset (voicing Offshark) and 3-year-old daughter Kulture (Kulture Shark).

According to a press release, Sharki B is “the biggest star in the seven seas — flashy, awe-inspiring, and ruthlessly fun — but always 100% herself and fin-spires other fishies to do the same.”

Baby Shark’s Big Show!, which is based on the Pinkfong song “Baby Shark” and its wildly viral dance video, premiered on Nick Jr. back in December 2020 with a Christmas special. In addition to the Nickelodeon series, a “Baby Shark” movie is also on the way in 2023.

The whole episode of Baby Shark’s Big Show!, starring Cardi B and her family, will premiere Friday at noon on Nickelodeon. Ahead of the episode, listen to  “The Seaweed Sway” on the compilation album Sing, Dance & Sway the Nick Jr. Way, which is currently out on all streaming platforms.
