Penélope Cruz: The Next Bond Girl?

Penélope Cruz and husband Javier Bardem may share a new Hollywood bond

The 39-year-old Spanish actress, who won an Oscar for starring opposite Bardem in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, has been named a strong contender for the role of Bond girl in the next installment of the James Bond franchise.

Penelope Cruz

Cruz, who earned recognition for her role in the Tom Cruise-starrer Vanilla Sky, is rumored to have been approached and offered the coveted role.

If the rumor holds true, Cruz, who will turn 40 next April, will be the first Spanish and the oldest Bond girl in franchise history.

Sources close to the production reportedly spilled the beans of the casting news, saying, “The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now.”

Currently, Daniel Craig is set to reprise his iconic role in the upcoming Bond movie, known simply as Bond 24 right now, with Sam Mendes likely to direct.

Cruz’s husband earned rave reviews when he starred as the main antagonist in the recent installment of the Bond franchise, Skyfall, which was released last year.

Bond 24 is eyeing a 2016 release.

Vergara to be Immortalized in Wax at Madame Tussauds

It’s true… Sofia Vergara has one heckuva (wax) figure…

The 40-year-old Colombian actress will be immortalized with lifelike wax figures at New York City’s Madame Tussauds wax museums in New York and Las Vegas beginning June 4.

Sofia Vergara

“We are very excited about Sofia Vergara’s arrival at Madame Tussauds. She has become one of the most recognized and popular talents in the world and we know her fans and our visitors will love her figures,” said museum representative Janine DiGioacchino in a statement.

The three-time SAG Award-winning Modern Family star was an “enthusiastic participant” in the figure creation process, which took four months.

The museum’s artists had to take thousands of photos and measurements of Vergara to get her image just right.

In New York, the wax figure of Vergara will show off her curvas with the same Marchesa dress that she wore last year to New York City’s Met Gala.

For her Las Vegas waxwork, Vergara gave the museum the form-fitting black dress accented with leopard-print sleeves originally worn to promote the third season of Modern Family.

Vergara joins the list of celebrities who in recent years have seen their immortalized in wax, including Penelope Cruz, Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga.

The 36-year-old Spanish actress, model and dancer – the younger sister of Penélope Cruz – welcomed her first child, a daughter, on Tuesday at the Hospital Ruber Internacional in Madrid, according to Hola magazine.

The Vicky Cristina Barcelona actress was by her sister’s side when she went into labor. Their mother, Encarna, and brother, Eduardo Cruz, also paid a visit to give their support.

Monica announced her pregnancy in January. She decided to be a single mother by turning to an anonymous sperm donor out of fear that it would “too late for motherhood” by the time she found her perfect partner.

“I am going to be a mother! I have managed to fulfill the dream of a lifetime,” she blogged. “To become pregnant, I turned to artificial insemination…I want to tell, also, so I can have the opportunity to show my thanks to all those anonymous men that give many women like me, the dream of their lives.”

Cruz Confirms Her Second Pregnancy…

It’s official… Penelope Cruz has confirmed her second pregnancy…

The news about the 38-year-old Spanish actress and her husband Javier Bardem expecting another child broke earlier this month. But Cruz’s publicist, Javier Giner, made it official this week.

Cruz’s publicist says the To Rome with Love actress was “extremely happy and very excited” about the baby news. But Giner refused to give further details about the pregnancy, including the due date.

Cruz and Bardem are already the proud parents to 2-year-old Leonardo.

The power couple began dating after meeting on the set of Woody Allen‘s 2007 movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona, the film that earned Cruz an Oscar. They wed in July 2010 at ceremony at a friend’s home in the Bahamas. Six months later, in January 2011, Leonardo was born at Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Hospital.

Cruz shared her story with the press about being a mother, “From the first second, you feel so much love.” She added, “It is a revolutionary experience. That’s the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment, when you see that face, you are transformed forever.”

“Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment – when you see that face, you are transformed forever,” Cruz has said of parenthood.

Cruz and Bardem, both Academy Award winners, wed in July 2010 at a friend’s home in the Bahamas.

But Penelope isn’t the only pregnant Cruz…

Her sister Mónica Cruz recently revealed that she’s expecting a child after getting pregnant via artificial insemination.

Cruz Reveals Pregnancy on Spanish Newspaper Blog

Penélope won’t be the only Cruz sister with a child soon…

Mónica Cruz recently announced that she got pregnant through artificial insemination by an anonymous sperm donor on her blog for Spanish newspaper El Pais.

Monica Cruz

The 35-year-old model/dancer/actress – who partnered with her sister Penélope Cruz to create their own lingerie collection for Agent Provocateurbegan blogging for El Pais in late December and in January, blogged from a gynecologist appointment before revealing the news

“So I’ve decided to talk about it: I have resorted to artificial insemination in order to get pregnant,” wrote Cruz. “I also wanted to talk about it because it is an opportunity to show my gratitude to all those anonymous donors that help a lot of women, like me, fulfill their lifetime dream. If with this I can help others that are in doubt, here I am for whatever you may need.”

Cruz, who was previously romantically linked to Spanish actor Alex Gonzalez, talked about her biological clock.

“A 40-year-old woman is very young and she feels very young but the maternity thing goes another way, it is measured with another clock that unfortunately we do not control,” wrote Cruz. “I’ve become very informed on the subject. It turns out that after 37 the possibilities of becoming pregnant decrease at an alarming rate.”

Cruz has been serving as the face of Agent Provocateur since last August. And she even starred in the luxury lingerie brand’s Fifty Shades of Grey-inspired video.
