STX Moves the Release of Morena Baccarin’s End of the World Thriller “Greenland” to Q4 2020

Morena Baccarin’s end of the world drama won’t come as soon as expected…

STX is moving the U.S. release of Greenland, starring the 41-year-old Brazilian actress, to the fourth quarter. An exact date hasn’t been set yet.

Greenland revolves around a family who must fight for survival as a planet-killing comet races to Earth. Gerard Butler plays John Garrity and Baccarin his estranged wife Allison. Together with their young son Nathan, they must make a perilous journey to their only hope for sanctuary. Amid terrifying news accounts of cities around the world being leveled by the comet’s fragments, the Garritys experience the best and worst in humanity while they battle the increasing panic and lawlessness surrounding them. As the countdown to global apocalypse approaches zero, their incredible trek culminates in a desperate and last-minute flight to a possible safe haven.

The film was scheduled to open on September 25 after STX pushed back its  launch several times due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The action thriller, directed by Ric Roman Waugh and written by Chris Sparling, has opened No. 1 in 13 markets abroad, grossing $12.5 million to date.

Morena Baccarin’s Disaster Thriller “Greenland” to Open in Theaters in July

Morena Baccarin’s readying for a Green(land) summer…

The 41-year-old Brazilian actress’ disaster thriller with Gerard Butler, Greenland, is now scheduled for a July 31 theatrical opening.

The STX film, directed by Ric Roman Waugh and written by Chris Sparling, was previously scheduled for June 12 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and global lockdown.

Greenland revolves around a family who must fight for survival as a planet-killing comet races to Earth.  Butler plays John Garrity and Baccarin his estranged wife Allison. Baccarin’s previous film credits include the Deadpool franchise, Ode to Joyand Spy.

Saban Films Acquires Rights to Bratt’s Crime Drama “Shot Caller”

Benjamin Bratt will be calling the shots soon…

Saban Films has acquired the rights to director Ric Roman Waugh’s crime drama Shot Caller, starring the 53-year-old half-Peruvian American actor.

Shot Caller follows a newly released prison gangster who is forced by the leaders of his gang to orchestrate a major crime with a brutal rival gang on the streets of Southern California.

In addition to Bratt, who starred in Fox’s Star this season, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lake Bell, Jon Bernthal, Emory Cohen and Omari Hardwick also star in the film.
