Emanuel Navarrete to Fight O’Shaquie Foster in Junior Lightweight Unification Bout

Emanuel Navarrete is ready for a unification fight…

The 31-year-old Mexican professional boxer and O’Shaquie Foster will clash in a junior lightweight unification bout on October 24 in San Antonio, per Top Rank.

Emanuel NavarreteNavarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs) will defend his WBO and IBF belts while Foster will put his WBC title on the line at Frost Bank Center.

Three-division world champion Navarrete — who has also held titles at junior featherweight and featherweight — is coming off a stoppage victory over Eduardo Nunez in February.

“I’m coming for everything, and I’m coming with everything I’ve got,” Navarrete said.

“I’m a Mexican warrior. I fear nothing and no one. I’m glad O’Shaquie Foster accepted the fight, because I’m coming for that third world title. I already have two — so why not three? On Oct. 24, you’re going to see a real Mexican warrior.”

Foster (25-3, 12 KOs), from Orange, Texas, is a two-time champion at junior lightweight, having first won the WBC strap in 2023 before he lost it the following year on a split decision to Robson Conceição. Foster then avenged the defeat in his next fight and has defended the belt twice since. He beat Ray Ford with a majority decision in May to set up the unification with Navarrete.

“This is the type of fight every fighter dreams about, and I’m ready for the challenge,” Foster said.

“I’m also excited to be back in San Antonio and fighting in front of all my fans, both locally and around the world. The support I’ve received throughout my career has meant everything to me, and I’m looking forward to giving everyone another performance to remember.

“I know I say this every time, but this truly is the biggest fight of my career. I can’t wait to put on for Texas and show the world what ‘Shock’ Foster is all about.”

Lightweights Albert Gonzalez and Edward Vazquez will face off in the co-main event, with Frank Martin also set to return for the first time since his draw against Nahir Albright in February.

Patricio “Pato” O’Ward is expanding his Range…

The 24-year-old Mexican professional auto racer, who competes full-time in the IndyCar Series, has signed with Range Media Partners.

Patricio “Pato” O’WardThe signing comes off the heels of the recent announcement that O’Ward, the Arrow McLaren driver, was named a Formula One Reserve Driver for McLaren F1 for the upcoming 2024 season.

As he speeds towards his racing dreams, Range will be helping O’Ward further expand his media repertoire, building out a larger brand partnerships strategy and a content business across television and film.

Originally from Mexico, O’Ward grew up in San Antonio where he started his racing journey karting at the age of 6.

Seven years later, he began competing in open-wheel racing, including the LATAM Formula 2000, Formula Renault 1.6 NEC and Pacific Formula F2000.

He is the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship champion in the Prototype Challenge class, a two-time class winner at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and a Prototype Challenge class winner at the Twelve Hours of Sebring.

In 2018, O’Ward was named Rookie of the Year after becoming the Indy NXT by Firestone champion (previously known as Indy Lights).

O’Ward had a strong 2023 IndyCar season, including his best starting position to date in the 2023 Indianapolis 500, ultimately finishing fourth in the championship with the most podium finishes (seven) and top five finishes of his career. This success allowed O’Ward to qualify for his FIA Super License, which coupled with his strong performance in the new McLaren Driver Development Programme, helped pave the way for his recent promotion to McLaren’s reserve driver pool for 2024.
