Adria Arjona to Star Opposite Michael B. Jordan in Amazon MGM Studios‘ “The Thomas Crown Affair” Reimagining

It’s a crowning moment for Adria Arjona.

The 33-year-old Guatemalan-Puerto Rican actress has taken over the co-lead opposite Michael B. Jordan in Amazon MGM Studios‘ Jordan-directed reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair.

Adria Arjona,Arjona takes over the role from Taylor Russell, who exited the project due to creative differences, with production underway in London.

Arjona is set for the role of an insurance investigator who comes to suspect that an adventurous banking executive is pulling off ambitious heists, and develops a spark with him.

It’s a version of the role played by Faye Dunaway opposite Steve McQueen in the original 1968 film, and by Rene Russo opposite Pierce Brosnan in the 1999 version.

Others in the cast of the new Thomas Crown Affair include Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbaek and Aiysha Hart.

Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo are producing for Outlier Society alongside Charles Roven at Atlas Entertainment.

Drew Pearce wrote the script, with previous drafts by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson.

Patrick McCormick and Toberoff Productions’ Marc Toberoff are also producing and Alan Trustman, who wrote the McQueen original, is an executive producer.

The film is set to release in theaters on March 5, 2027.

Arjona comes to the project after starring in the studio’s thriller Blink Twice, directed by Zoë Kravitz, as well as its upcoming series Criminal.

Recently appearing on hit Star Wars series Andor and wrapping on A24’s Onslaught, she’s also known for turns in films like Hit Man and Los Frikis, among others.

Next up, she’ll be seen in Neon and Topic Studios’ comedy Splitsville, from The Climb‘s Michael Angelo Covino and Kyle Marvin, out August 22 following its premiere at Cannes.

David Castañeda Starring in Neon & Topic Studios’ “Splitsville”

It’s splitsville for David Castañeda.

The 35-year-old Mexican American actor has been added to the cast of Neon and Topic Studios’ comedy Splitsville, which recently wrapped production.

Details as to the trio’s roles are being kept under wraps.

Dakota Johnson, Adria Arjona and Covino’s The Climb collaborator Kyle Marvin will also star.

In Splitsville, Ashley (Arjona) asks for a divorce, leading good-natured Carey (Marvin) to run to his friends, Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino), for support. He’s shocked to discover that the secret to their happiness is an open marriage — that is, until Carey crosses the line and throws all of their relationships into chaos.

The project was developed at Topic Studios as part of a multi-year first look deal with Covino and Marvin’s Watch This Ready following their collaboration on Covino’s directorial debut The Climb.

Known for his role as Diego Hargreeves on Netflix’s hit series The Umbrella Academy, Castañeda will next be seen starring opposite Ana de Armas in Lionsgate’s John Wick spin-off Ballerina, which releases on June 6, 2025.
