Torres Impresses Her Idol Mariah on “American Idol”

Tenna Torres is going to Hollywood…

The 28-year-old half-Puerto Rican singer wowed the judges during the season premiere of American Idol, including her longtime idol Mariah Carey.

Tenna Torres

“I’ve been listening to Mariah since I was 5 years old,” said Torres, who actually attended Carey’s Camp Mariah when she was a child, even performing for the Grammy-winning singer.

The Queen, New York singer performed Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend,” and earned rave reviews – and a golden ticket to Hollywood – from the judges.

“If we could have someone like this come out of Idol season 12, I would personally be very proud…I loved it,” said Carey.

Nicki Minaj concurred with Carey, saying, “We are just in awe.”
