Xochitl Gomez Lands Recurring Role on CBS’ “Boston Blue”

The 19-year-old Mexican American actress has been cast in CBS‘ freshman police procedural Boston Blue in a recurring role.

Xochitl Gomez Gomez will join the Blue Bloods spinoff starring Donnie Wahlberg as Penny, a quick-witted, charming young woman with a mysterious past who crashes into Sean’s life, a role played by Mika Amonsen.

Gomez will make her debut in the drama on the episode airing Friday, November 21, at 10:00 pm ET/PT.

Gomez made her acting debut on Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home (2018) and broke out when she starred in the first season of the Netflix series The Baby-Sitters Club in 2020.

In 2022, she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Latina superhero América Chávez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

She also competed in ABC’s Dancing with the Stars Season 32, winning the Mirror Ball Trophy alongside dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy.

Boston Blue premiered in October of this year on CBS, expanding the Blue Bloods universe following its 14-season run.

The series follows Wahlberg reprising his role as NYPD Officer Danny Reagan as he takes a position with the Boston PD. Once in Boston, he is paired with Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.

The series also stars Maggie Lawson as Sarah Silver, Marcus Scribner as Jonah Silver, Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver and Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters.

Boston Blue is produced by CBS Studios in association with JBTV. Brandon Sonnier & Brandon Margolis showrun and executive produce. Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed and Wahlberg will also serve as executive producers.

The 15-year-old Mexican American actress has signed with Hyperion for representation in all areas.

Xochitl GomezGomez will next star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in Disney/Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which hits theaters May 6.

Gomez plays America Chavez in the film, a groundbreaking Marvel LGBTQ Latin American character who ultimately joins the Young Avengers. Chavez is known for her strength, and the power of flight, particularly exceeding the speed of light. She also has a talent for kicking open star-shaped holes in reality, allowing her and her teammates to travel through the multiverse.

Gomez previously starred as Dawn Schafer, the lead of the Netflix series The Baby-Sitters Club.

In 2020, she won a Young Artist Award for Supporting Teen Artist for her work in the film Shadow Wolves. That same year, her short film The Letter was licensed by HBO.

The actress is an alum of the Sundance Institute, where she was a feature actress in the Director’s Lab in 2018. Gomez won Best Child Actor at the London Independent Film Awards for her turn in Boob Sweat and also won Best Young Actress for the movie at the 2018 New York Film Awards.

Netflix has revealed plans to release the eight-episode second season of The Baby-Sitters Club, featuring the Latina actress, on October 11.

With the news, the streamer dropped new images featuring Season 2 additions Sanchez, Vivian Watson, and Anais Lee.

“In Season 2, we really get to see a maturation of the club, and of the girls,” shared Rachel Shukert, Executive Producer and Series Creator.

“There are two new members, they’re all a year older and have more experience running a business, deeper friendships, and are growing into a deeper understanding of themselves as people,” she continued. “We also wanted to continue exploring themes that allow all young viewers to see themselves represented on screen, while also dealing obliquely with many of the things we’ve all been through in the past year: loss, change, responsibility, and trying to find joy and meaning in unexpected places. I’m so excited for everyone to be back in Stoneybrook and back in business!”

Sanchez is stepping into the role of Dawn Schafer that was previously portrayed by Xochitl Gomez, who departed due to scheduling conflicts connected to her participation in Doctor Strange 2. Gomez will star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of teen superhero America Chavez.

The Baby-Sitters Club, based on the best-selling book series by Ann M. Martin, follows the friendship and adventures of seven friends as they start their own babysitting business in Stoneybrook, Connecticut.

Netflix Renews Xochitl Gomez’s “The Baby-Sitters Club” for Second Season

Netflix has renewed the Latweena actress’ The Baby-Sitters Club, based on the best-selling novels, for a second season.

Season 2 of The Baby-Sitters Club follows the friendship and adventures of Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, Dawn Schafer (Gomez), Jessie Ramsey, Mallory Pike as the middle-schoolers start their babysitting business in the town of Stoneybrook, Connecticut.

Book author and series producer Ann M. Martin was the first to conceive the idea of these inspiring young girls with different backgrounds, personalities and opinions that were brought together by a business venture they conceived and bonded through the friendships they forged.

The family friendly adaptation comes from Walden Media.

Gomez’s other credits include Gentefied and Shadow Wolves.

Xochitl Gomez to Star in the “Doctor Strange” Sequel “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”

The Latina actress has joined the cast of Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, in which Benedict Cumberbatch returns to reprise the title character and Sam Raimi takes over directing duties.

Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor also are expected to reprise their roles from the original film as, respectively, fellow sorcerer Wong and Strange’s compatriot-turned-nemesis Karl Mordo.

And Elizabeth Olsen has been tapped to reprise her role as Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff, for a storyline that Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has said will link up with her Disney Plus series WandaVision that debuts in December.

Plot details and Gomez’s character are still unknown at this time.

Production will begin after Cumberbatch finishes filming the next Spider-Man film, where he’ll be playing Doctor Strange.

Raimi replaces original director Scott Derrickson, who departed the project in January due to creative differences.

Gomez’s previous credits include Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club and Gentefied, as well as Raven’s Home, Roped and Shadow Wolves.
