Isaac Earns First-Ever Golden Globe Award Nomination

Oscar Isaac may be seeing gold in the near future…

The 33-year-old Guatemalan and Cuban American actor has earned the first Golden Globe award nomination of his career from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association during Thursday’s early morning nomination announcement.

Isaac is up for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for his critically acclaimed role in Inside Llewyn Davis.

In the film, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, Isaac stars as the film’s title character, Llewyn Davis, a singer-songwriter who navigates New York’s folk music scene in the 1960s.

It’s the latest nod this awards season for Isaac…

He previously earned a Spirit Award nomination for his performance in Inside Llewyn Davis, as well as a Gotham Independent Film Awards nod.

But Isaac isn’t the only Latino earning the first nomination of his career.

Rush star Daniel Brühl, who earned his first SAG Award earlier this week, is nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his portrayal of racing legend Niki Lauda in Ron Howard‘s Formula One drama Rush.

Helena Bonham Carter has earned her sixth Golden Globe nomination. The 46-year-old part-Spanish actress is up for Best Actress in a Mini-Series or TV Movie for her role in the BBC biopic Burton and Taylor.

Alfonso Cuarón, one of Entertainment Weekly’s Entertainers of the Year, received a nomination for Best Director for helming the blockbuster hit film Gravity.

In the music category, Robert Lopez and his wife and writing partner Kristen Anderson Lopez have been nominated for Best Original Song – Motion Picture to penning “Let It Go,” the power ballad from Disney’s latest animated film Frozen. The song is performed by Idina Menzel during the film
and Demi Lovato in the closing credits.

Last but certainly not least, Sofia Vergara has earned her fourth consecutive Golden Globe nomination for her laughtastic role on ABC’s Modern Family.

The Golden Globes awards show will be held on January 12 in Beverly Hills. NBC will air the Golden Globes Awards live with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler returning for the second year in a row as hosts.

The 33-year-old Guatemalan-Cuban American actor has earned a Gotham Independent Film Awards nomination for his critically acclaimed role in Inside Llewyn Davis.

The film, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. won the Grand Prix at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and opens in December.

The Gotham Independent Film Awards will be handed out on December 2 at New York City’s Cipriani Wall Street.

Isaac’s “Inside Llewyn Davis” to be Feted at the Telluride Film Festival

Oscar Isaac’s latest film will be getting special attention in Telluride, Colorado…

The 33-year-old Guatemalan and Cuban American actor’s highly anticipated film Inside Llewyn Davis will be part of a special performance by the Punch Brothers at the 40th anniversary of the Telluride Film Festival.

The performance will include songs featured in several of T Bone Burnett and the Joel and Ethan Coen Brothers’ collaborations, including songs from the soundtrack of Inside Llewyn Davis.

The concert will take place Wednesday, August 28 at 5:00 pm in Telluride Town Park.

The Telluride Film Festival, an annual celebration of artistic excellence that brings together cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers and artists to discover the best in world cinema in the beautiful mountain town of Telluride, takes place Thursday, August 29 – Monday, September 2, 2013.

Isaac’s “Inside Llewyn Davis” to be Screened at the AFI Fest

The 33-year-old Guatemalan and Cuban American actor’s latest film, the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, will be the screened during the AFI Fest’s Closing Night Gala on Thursday, November 14.

Isaac’s film, which co-stars Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund and Justin Timberlake, won the Grand Prix when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival back in May.

The film follows a week in the life of a young folk singer as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961.

Inside Llewyn Davis will also be screened at the New York Film Festival and be the center of a concert benefit later this year.

CBS Films will release the film in theaters starting December 6.

Isaac to Perform Live at Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of “Inside Llewyn Davis”

The 33-year-old Guatemalan and Cuban American actor will be performing at Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis, based on the film which stars Isaac as struggling musician meandering through New York City’s 1960s folk scene.

In addition to Isaac, the benefit concert – which shines a spotlight on the Joel and Ethan Coen-directed film that earned the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival in May – will feature performances by Avett Brothers, Joan Baez, Colin Meloy of The Decemberists, Marcus Mumford, Conor Oberst, Patti Smith, Gillian Welch & Dave Rawlings and Jack White. Additionally, the films other stars Carey Mulligan, John Goodman and Stark Sands are set to perform.

The benefit concert will take place on September 29 at The Town Hall in New York City.

The folk bill is inspired by the Coen brothers film. Joel and Ethan Coen and T Bone Burnett are producing the event, with some of the proceeds benefiting the National Recording Preservation Foundation.

Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, August 21.

CBS Films has announced plans to release Joel and Ethan Coen’s Inside Llewyn Davis, starring the 33-year-old half-Guatemalan/half-Cuban actor, in December.

The film will open in limited release December 6 and expand out December 20 — during the heart of awards season.

Inside Llewyn Davis takes place in the folk-music circuit in New York’s Greenwich Village in the 1960s.

Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, Murray Abraham and Justin Timberlake co-star.

CBS Films landed domestic distribution rights to the heavily buzzed-about film, which will compete at the Cannes Film Festival, in February. Its first screening on the Sony lot drew a music crowd, a lot of movie stars and numerous studio execs, resulting in a ton of buzz.

The 33-year-old Guatemalan-born actor of Cuban and Guatemalan descent, the star of the upcoming Joel and Ethan Coen-directed Inside Llewyn Davis, has been cast in the indie film Partisan.

Written and directed by Ariel Kleiman, the film is described as a confronting fable about a vengeful man raising his children to attack the world that wronged him.

Isaac’s credits include The Nativity Story, Drive, Sucker Punch, W.E. and The Bourne Legacy.

CBS Films has acquired the domestic distribution rights to the 33-year-old half-Guatemalan/half-Cuban actor’s highly anticipated film Inside Llewyn Davis.

Directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, the film is set in the folk-music circuit in downtown New York’s Greenwich Village in the 1960s.

Isaac, who impressed critics with the song he penned and performed in the reunion film 10 Years, stars as the singer-songwriter who navigates through that music scene.

Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, F. Murray Abraham and Justin Timberlake co-star.

CBS Films acquired the U.S. rights for the for close to $4 million, according to Deadline.com.

No word yet on when the film will be released in the U.S.

Following his role as a famous musician in 10 Years, the Guatemalan-born actor and singer is starring as a singer-songwriter looking for a break in the 1960s Greenwich Village folk scene in Joel and Ethan Coen‘s latest film Inside Llewyn Davis.

The first trailer for the film, which has yet to find a distributor, was recently released as part of an invitation to the film’s debut screening next month hosted by Nonesuch Records and T-Bone Burnett.

Burnett has re-teamed with the Coen brothers on the music for Llewyn after earning five Grammys for his work on the duo’s O Brother Where Art Thou?

Meanwhile, Isaac has reunited with his Drive co-star Carey Mulligan in the film, which also stars John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, Justin Timberlake, F. Murray Abraham and Adam Driver and Alex Karpovsky of HBO’s Girls.
