Lucero to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

The 55-year-old Mexican singer, actress and television personality, dubbed the “Americas’ Sweetheart“, is among the artists who will receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the coming year.

LuceroLucero, known for her influence in Latin music and Hispanic television with a career spanning over four decades, will be honored for her storied television career after starring in numerous hit telenovelas, including Cuando Llega el Amor (1990), Los Parientes Pobres (1993) and Lazos de Amor (1996).

But Lucero isn’t the only Hispanic artist receiving a star…

Mexican American band Intocable, three-time Latin Grammy winners for their Regional Mexican hits, will be honored for their contributions in music.

Intocable is considered one of the most influential group in Tejano and their Tejano/Norteño fusion has become the blueprint for several Tejano bands.

The group’s style combines romantic, hooky melodies, tight instrumentation and vocal harmony.

Paulinho da Costa will also receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Beginning his career as a samba musician in Brazil, he moved to the United States in the early 1970s and worked with Brazilian bandleader Sérgio Mendes. The 77-year-old Brazilian musician went on to perform with many American pop, rock and jazz musicians and participated in thousands of albums.

Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is one of only two representatives in the Live Theatre/Live Performance category.

The 48-year-old Mexican American stand-up comedian and actor has produced a number of stand-up specials for television outlets such as Comedy Central and Netflix, including I’m Not Fat… I’m Fluffy and Hot and Fluffy.

As an actor, he has appeared in numerous live-action and animated TV shows and films, including starring in the sitcom Mr. Iglesias on Netflix, playing Tobias in the 2012 movie Magic Mike and its 2015 sequel, and providing the voice of Speedy Gonzales in Space Jam: A New Legacy.

He was also the host of the shows Stand Up Revolution on Comedy Central and Fluffy’s Food Adventures on Fuse.

The honorees were selected by the Walk of Fame selection panel of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce from “hundreds” of nominations at a meeting on June 20.

The selections were ratified by the Chamber’s board of directors on June 25.

“We are excited to announce the newest selections of 35 esteemed individuals who will be enshrined onto the Walk of Fame as part of the prestigious Class of 2026,” Peter Roth, former CEO of Warner Bros. Television and chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, said in a statement. “These talented individuals have made significant contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honor them with this well-deserved recognition.”

Dates have not yet been scheduled for these star ceremonies. Recipients have two years to schedule star ceremonies from the date of selection before they expire. Upcoming star ceremonies are usually announced 10 days prior to dedication on the Walk of Fame’s official website.

Netflix to Premiere Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias’ New Comedy Special “Legend of Fluffy” in January

Netflix has announced plans to globally premiere the 48-year-old Mexican-American stand-up comedian and actor’s new stand-up special, Legend of Fluffy on January 7, 2025.

The special finds Iglesias in his 27th year in comedy, reminiscing on the perils of life: from dating, to home break-ins, to turbulent plane rides.

Shot at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, it’s his fourth for the streamer on the heels of Gabriel Iglesias: Stadium Fluffy (2022), where he made history as the first comedian to perform at and sell out Dodger Stadium, the largest MLB stadium in the U.S., as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest.

His other specials there include Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias: One Show Fits All (2019) and Gabriel Iglesias: I’m Sorry for What I Said When I Was Hungry (2016).

Manny Rodriguez directed, with Iglesias executive producing alongside John Bravakis and Joe Meloche. Fluffy Shop Studios and Triage Entertainment produced.

One of the world’s highest grossing comedians, Iglesias is also one of the most watched on YouTube with over 2 billion views, and boasts over 34.6 million fans across social media. One of the few to headline and sell-out Madison Square Garden in New York, Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and The Sydney Opera House in Australia, he was previously in business with Netflix as the executive producer and star of its multi-cam Mr. Iglesias, which ran for two seasons.

Previously executive producing and hosting Comedy Central’s Stand-Up Revolution, Iglesias did the same for the docuseries Fluffy’s Food Adventures, which ran for three seasons on Fuse TV. Also previously putting out the Comedy Central special Aloha Fluffy, among others, he’s additionally been seen in series like The Santa Clauses and Lopez vs. Lopez, as well as the Magic Mike franchise and other films.

Everybody Still Hates Chris features Rock as Adult Chris, narrating stories inspired by his experience growing up as a skinny nerd in a large working-class family in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, during the late 1980s.

Terry Crews will voice his father Julius, a gentle giant with a relentless work ethic, and tightwad approach to life. He grew up dirt poor, so he knows the cost of everything down to the penny. He works two jobs to support the family, and on his days off, he takes on a third job.

Tichina Arnold will voice his mother Rochelle, who is smart, strong-willed, and has a nurturing spirit, but she can also be hot-headed, especially when it comes to her kids. She tolerates zero nonsense, so she quits more jobs in a month than most people do in a lifetime.

Tim Johnson Jr. voices Young Chris, Ozioma Akagha voices his baby sister Tonya, Terrence Little Gardenhigh voices his brother Drew and Gunnar Sizemore voices his friend Greg.

The series, which is based on Everybody Hates Chris, which ran for four seasons on UPN and The CW between 2005 and 2009, is produced by CBS Studios’ animation arm Eye Animation Productions and Chris Rock Enterprises.

Sanjay Shah is showrunner and executive produces alongside Rock, Everybody Hates Chris co-creator Ali LeRoi, Michael Rotenberg and Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment, and Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina from Titmouse, which serves as the animation studio.

Gabriel Fluffy Iglesias has hit rock bottom

The 47-year-old Mexican American stand-up comedian and actor is lending his voice to the animated caveman comedy Rock Bottom.

Australia’s Odin’s Eye Animation (OEA) has boarded sales on the project, the latest production from Mexican animation powerhouse Huevocartoon Studios.

Iglesias’ many animation voice credits include The Nut Job and The Book of Life.

Rock Bottom is a co-production with Dario Sanchez’s 3DoublesProductions, the Spanish studio based in Tenerife known for its work on 100% WolfInspector Sun and upcoming film SuperKlaus.

OEA has acquired worldwide rights to the film excluding Latin America, which will be handled by Videocine; Televisa/Univision) and Spain (3 Doubles Productions).

As per the synopsis, Rock Bottom follows the story of Gungo, an overconfident heir to the chieftain’s throne. After his banishment, he finds himself leading a motley crew of outcasts to reclaim his rightful place and guide his tribe toward a prosperous future, learning lessons about unity, resilience, and the true meaning of strength along the way.

The film is co-directed, co-written and co-produced by HuevoCartoons fraternal co-founders Rodolfo Riva Palacio and Gabriel Riva Palacio.

The 45-year-old Mexican American stand-up comedian and actor has been cast as a series regular on NBC’s multi-camera comedy pilot Hungry, starring and executive produced by Demi Lovato.

Gabriel IglesiasMulti-Emmy-winning sitcom director James Burrows will helm the pilot, which comes from Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills, SB Projects and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Written and executive produced by Suzanne Martin, Hungry follows a group of friends who belong to a food-issues group helping one another as they look for love, success and the perfect thing in the fridge that’s going to make it all better.

Iglesias will play Danny, a big-hearted big guy who’s the life of the party.

The cast also includes Valerie Bertinelli, Alex Brightman and Ashley D. Kelley.

Hayes, Milliner & Scooter Braun, Scott Manson and James Shin executive produce.

Iglesias recently starred in and executive produced comedy series Mr. Iglesias, which aired for two seasons on Netflix.

He’ll soon make history on May 7 for being the first comedian to perform at Dodger Stadium, which later will stream as a stand-up special on Netflix. Iglesias also stars in Paramount’s upcoming animated feature Blazing Samurai, in which he voices Chuck, set for release in July.
