Gomez Earns Top Honors at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

The 21-year-old half-Mexican American singer/actress took home top music honors at Nickelodeon‘s 27th annual Kids’ Choice Awards during the Mark Wahlberg-hosted ceremony, which aired live on Nickelodeon from the University of Southern California‘s Galen Center on Saturday, March 29.

Gomez beat out Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift for the coveted orange blimp in the Favorite Female Singer category.

In addition, Gomez took home the award for #1 Fan Army for her oh-so-committed Selenators.

Gomez, who has won at least one Kids’ Choice Award every year since 2009, has raised her overall orange blimp count to eight.

Blacc to Perform at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

Aloe Blacc is set to make his first appearance at the 2014 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

The 35-year-old Panamanian-American singer will perform at the March 29 fan-voted awards ceremony, which will be hosted by Mark Wahlberg.

Blacc, best known for his single “I Need a Dollar,” will perform a medley of his recent hit songs “Wake Me Up,” which he co-wrote with Avicii, and “The Man.”

“Wake Me Up” has charted at No. 1 in 22 countries.

“Looking forward to my very first Kids Choice Awards performance. Can’t wait to sing ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘The Man’ with all my fans,” said Blacc.

Blacc’s most recent television appearances include The Voice, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Dancing with the Stars.

Gomez Earns Kids’ Choice Award Nomination for Favorite Female Singer

 is the people’s choice… At least the young people’s choice.

The 21-year-old half-Mexican American actress/singer is among the nominees at the 27th annual Kids’ Choice Awards, earning the eighth nomination of her career.

Gomez, a six-time Kids’ Choice Award winner, earned her nod in the Favorite Female Singer category. She’ll face-off against Lady Gaga, Katy Perry
and Taylor Swift
for the award she previously won in 2012.

This year’s fan-voted event will be hosted by Mark Wahlberg, who stars in the fourth installment in the Transformers franchise.

This year, the Kids’ Choice Awards has added several new categories: favorite app, favorite villain, favorite funny star, favorite animated animal sidekick and most enthusiastic athlete.

Other notable Latino nominees include Bruno Mars and Pitbull, who have armed nods for Favorite Male Singer, Sofia Vergara for Favorite Funny Star, baseball star David Ortiz for Most Enthusiastic Athlete
and Benjamin Flores, Jr.
for Favorite Television Actor.

Voting in the 22 categories is currently underway across all Nickelodeon digital platforms, including the Nick.com website and the official Nickelodeon page, where users can vote by using custom Kids’ Choice Awards hashtags.

The Kids’ Choice Awards take place Saturday, March 29, from 8-9:30 pm ET/PT at the University of Southern California‘s Galen Center.

Lopez Filling His Resume with Producing Credits

Mario Lopez is beefing up his resume with more producing credits…

The 38-year-old Mexican American actor and Extra host has lined up a number of series projects as a producer.

Lopez, the host of MTV’s dance completion American’s Best Dance Crew, has a 10-episode commitment at MTV Tr3s for Golden Boys, a docu-series following some of the world’s top young Latino boxers. Lopez is executive producing with boxing star Oscar De La Hoya.

Lopez also has a series commitment for Conversations with Mario at Comcast’s Latin-driven channel NuVo. The series takes an in-depth look at some of the most influential Latino celebrities in the world.

At ABC Family, Lopez is the man behind Back To Badass, a pilot for a reality series that aims to take former star athletes back to the top of their game.

Lopez’s latest projects are in addition to the upcoming Mario Lopez And Courtney Mazza Wedding Special, a two-hour special for TLC chronicling the preparations leading to Lopez and Mazza’s December wedding.

In addition, Lopez is working in post on an untitled boxing documentary he’s producing and appearing in, along with Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington and others. And, Lopez’s Los Angeles radio show, On With Mario Lopez, has just gone national.
