Kevin Alves to Appear on Netflix‘s Comedy Series “No Good Deed” in Recurring Role

The 32-year-old Canadian-Brazilian actor and former figure skater has landed a recurring role on Netflix‘s eight-episode comedy series No Good Deed from creator Liz Feldman.

Kevin AlvesAlves, who appears on Yellowjackets, plays Nate, the strait-laced, hard-edged son of Mikey (Denis Leary), with whom he has a strained relationship.

Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow lead the cast, which also includes Linda Cardellini, Luke Wilson, Abbi Jacobson, Poppy Liu, Leary and O-T Fagbenle.

No Good Deed is a half-hour, dark comedy that follows three very different families vying to buy the very same 1920s Spanish-style villa that they think will solve all their problems. But as the sellers have already discovered, sometimes the home of your dreams can be a total nightmare.

Feldman serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum for Gloria Sanchez Productions, Christie Smith, and Silver Tree, who will direct the pilot and additional episodes.

Sherry Thomas and Russell Scott are overseeing casting.

Best known for his role as a teenaged Travis on Showtime’s hit series Yellowjackets, which is heading into its third season after landing 10 Emmy nominations in its first two go-rounds, the Canadian-born Alves previously recurred on Netflix’s Locke & Key and Freeform’s Shadowhunters.

His additional TV credits include Two Sentence Horror StoriesThe ExpanseDegrassi: The Next Generation and Warehouse 13.

Next, Alves will be seen starring in the comedy Lucky Weekend, which he directed from his own script, in his feature debut.

The 49-year-old Mexican actress and telenovela star has signed with Buchwald.

del Castillo stars in Telemundo’s hit drama La Reina del Sur.

One of the highest rated Spanish-language series in the world, La Reina del Sur adapts the bestseller by Spanish novelist Arturo Perez-Reverte. In the crime drama, which recently wrapped filming for Season 3, del Castillo plays Teresa Mendonza, a woman from Mexico who becomes the most powerful drug trafficker in southern Spain.

Castillo recently completed a two-series deal with Telemundo. Her production company, Cholawood, has a first-look development deal with Boomdog, the Mexico City-based division of Endemol Shine North America.

The actress starred opposite Will Smith as the villain in Sony’s Bad Boys for Life, also recently featuring on NBC’s sitcom Mr. Mayor, from creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, and the Netflix animated series Maya and the Three, created by Jorge R. Gutiérrez.

She rose to acclaim in America with her performance in Fox Searchlight’s Under the Same Moon, which is one of the highest-grossing Spanish-language theatrical releases in U.S. history, and has also featured in such films as BordertownNo Good Deed and All About Nina.

del Castillo has also appeared in series including PBSGolden Globe and Emmy-nominated drama American Family, The CW’s Jane the Virgin and Showtime’s Weeds, among others. Her one-woman Off-Broadway show, The Way She Spoke, made her the first Latina actress to earn Drama Desk, Drama League and Lucille Lortel Award nominations.

A philanthropist and outspoken global activist, del Castillo was appointed Ambassador for the Mexican Commission on Human Rights to combat human trafficking in 2009.

The 39-year-old Mexican actress and telenovela star has signed to guest star on Grimm, NBC’s dark police procedural that takes place in a world in which characters inspired by Grimms’ Fairy Tales exist.

del Castillo will portray a Portland-based detective searching for a child abductor, and that criminal could very well be the legendary La Llorona.

Grimm fans know monsters play a part in each and every episode. And, La Llorona is expected to give the show a Latin twist, by shining a spotlight on one of Latin America’s most famous legends.

According to legend, a beautiful woman named Maria kills her children by drowning them; in order to be with the man she loves. When he rejects her, she kills herself. Challenged at the gates of heaven as to the whereabouts of her children, she isn’t permitted to enter the afterlife until she finds them. So Maria is forced to wander the earth for all eternity, searching in vain for her drowned offspring, with her constant weeping giving her the name La Llorona.

The episode featuring del Castillo, who had a guest-starring role on CSI: Miami last season, will air on October 26.

Meanwhile, del Castillo is set to star in the films No Good Deed and K-11.

The 39-year-old Mexican actress, considered the reigning queen of telenovelas, has joined the cast of No Good Deed, starring Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson.

The thriller revolves around a former DA-turned-stay-at-home mom (Henson) and her two small children who are kidnapped from their home by a mysterious stranger (Elba).

Del Castillo—who starred in Telemundo’s hugely popular telenovela   La Reina del Surwill play Elba’s cheating ex-fiancée.

It’s the latest Hollywood role for del Castillo, who received critical acclaim for her performance in La misma luna (Under the Same Moon), guest-starred on CSI: Miami and had a story arc on Weeds. Up next for del Castillo: playing a transsexual in the film K-11, set for release later this year.
