Odette Annable is bringing the scares…
The 40-year-old Colombian & Cuban American actress will star in Anima, a psychological horror film written and directed by Colombia’s Andrés Beltrán.
In addition to the Supergirl actress, the cast will also include Allegra Leguizamo,, Tony Revolori and Andres Londono.
Production is underway now in Bogotá.
Anima follows Helena (Annable), a forensic medical investigator overwhelmed by grief after the death of her husband Richard (Londono). When she becomes obsessed with a disturbing new case, Helena starts to believe she can bring Richard back — unleashing a cascade of terrifying consequences.
Revolori plays Pablo, a key figure tied to the mystery that pulls Helena further into a spiral of obsession and horror. Leguizamo portrays Helena’s daughter, Julia.
“This is a deeply emotional and unsettling story—about grief, denial, and the terrifying cost of refusing to let go,” said Beltrán. “It’s been exciting to bring this vision to life with such a dedicated creative team.”
The project secured partial production and post-production financing from Notorious Productions Film Fund, which focuses on independent films with established talent and strong international distribution potential.
“From the very beginning, Anima stood out as something special,” said producer Cherubini, “genre storytelling that’s grounded in emotional truth. With this cast and Andrés at the helm, we’re building something haunting and memorable.”
Known for roles in The CW’s Supergirl and Matt Reeves’ Cloverfield, Annable has more recently been seen playing bartender Geri Broussard in The CW’s Walker, which ran for four seasons.
On the feature side, Beltrán most recently directed Quicksand, a horror thriller penned by Westworld‘s Matt Pitts, which marked his English-language debut. Prior to that helming the horror film Llanto Maldito (Tarumama) and crime thriller Malos Dias (Bad Days), he’s also worked on international series like Primate, The Marked Heart, Savage Rhythm and MalaYerba.
