HBO Releases First Full Trailer for Oscar Isaac’s Limited Series “Scenes from a Marriage”

Here’s a look at Oscar Isaac’s Marriage

HBO has released the first full trailer for the 42-year-old Guatemalan & Cuban actor’s HBO limited series Scenes from a Marriage.

Oscar Isaac x Jessica Chastain, Scenes from a Marriage

The clip opens with Isaac’s co-star Jessica Chastain climbing into bed, with body language telling a story. Before she can speak, he asks, “What is it?”

The series, which will premiere on Sunday, September 12, is adapted from Ingmar Bergman’s 1973 Swedish miniseries. It re-examines its iconic depiction of love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple.

Chastain plays Mira, a confident, ambitious tech executive left unfulfilled by her marriage. Isaac is Jonathan, a cerebral and accommodating philosophy professor desperate to keep their relationship intact.

The five-part Scenes from a Marriage addresses the complexity of Jonathan and Mira as individuals who ultimately know their marriage isn’t being ripped apart by any one event or flaw.

Viewers will eavesdrop on private conversations between two people torn between feelings of hate and love.

“You just believe that, as a couple, nothing can hurt you,” we hear Mira say. “And then you gradually start to realize that actually, anything can hurt you.”

Sunita Mani, Nicole Beharie, Corey Stoll and Tovah Feldshuh co-star.

The limited series from Media Res and Endeavor Content reunites Chastain and Isaac, who were classmates at Julliard, are longtime friends and starred together in 2014’s A Most Violent Year.

Both also executive produce, along with Hagai Levi and Michael Ellenberg via Media Res, Lars Blomgren, Daniel Bergman, Blair Breard and Amy Herzog.

Oscar Isaac

In a tweet posted to the official Marvel Studios account, Isaac posed in front of enlarged panels from the Moon Knight comic series, setting his involvement in stone.

“WE ARE MOONKNIGHT,” the Twitter post read.

Reports previously swirled about the actor’s casting for the series back in October, upon hearing that he was in negotiations to star in the titular role. Jeremy Slater, behind Netflix’s series adaptation of The Umbrella Academy comic books, has been tapped to develop and lead the writing team on the series for the Disney streaming platform.

Moon Knight, aka Marc Spector, is a mercenary who has numerous alter egos — cabbie Jake Lockley and millionaire playboy Steven Grant — in order to better fight the criminal underworld. But later he was established as being a conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu.

Most recently, the character was a consultant who dresses in all-white and goes by the name Mr. Knight.

Moon Knight was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin and appeared in the August 1975 issue Werewolf by Night #32.

Mohamed Diab will direct the upcoming Marvel series, which will feature Ethan Hawke in the cast.

The game was first launched on PlayStation in 1998 and follows Snake, a soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from Foxhound, a renegade special forces unit. The game has received acclaimed on many fronts, but its storytelling that has a cinematic feel always made it seem like a movie adaptation was inevitable.

Given Isaac’s extremely busy schedule, a production start date is still unknown, but his involvement makes the property a high priority for the studio going forward. As for Isaac, Metal Gear Solid could give him another major franchise, having already starred in the most recent Star Wars franchise.

Even as the industry slowly gets back into production due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Isaac has been busy setting his future slate in recent months. He is set to star in HBO’s Scenes From a Marriage opposite Jessica Chastain, followed by playing the title role in Marvel’s Moon Knight for Disney+.

Isaac will next be seen in the much-anticipated reboot of Dune and Paul Schrader’s The Card Counter. He’s also set to star in and produce the adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn’s Ex Machina comic retitled The Great Machine and star in Barry Levinson’s Francis and The Godfather, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.

Oscar Isaac to Star Opposite Cate Blanchett in Period Drama “Armageddon Time”

It’s Armageddon Time for Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac

Isaac joins a list of new cast members that includes Robert De NiroDonald Sutherland and Anne Hathaway

Gray wrote and will direct, and re-teams with RT Features following their recent collaboration on Ad Astra, the Brad Pitt space thriller that co-starred Sutherland. RT Features’ Rodrigo Teixeira will produce, with Lourenço Sant’Anna and Rodrigo Gutierrez executive producing.

Gray crafted a drama based on his childhood memories, a big-hearted coming-of-age story that explores friendship and loyalty against the backdrop of an America poised to elect Ronald Reagan as president. It’s very different from his recent pictures, and he hopes to shoot in New York as soon as post-pandemic opportunities make it possible.

“Every film you make is different, but I’m trying to do something that is the opposite of the vast, lonely and dark void of the movie I just directed,” Gray said. “I’m anxious to make something that is very much about people, about human emotions and interactions between people, and I want it to be filled with warmth and tenderness. In some sense, yes it’s about my childhood, but an illustration of familial love really on every level. I’m of the belief that most people do their best and that they try their best under difficult circumstances and in some sense that’s a beautiful thing and very moving to me.”
