Daniella Alonso to Replace Ana Brenda Contreras on the CW’s “Dynasty” Reboot

The CW’s has recast the role of Cristal Jennings in its Dynasty reboot with the 40-year-old half-Puerto Rican and part-Peruvian actress.

Ana Brenda Contreras — who played Cristal in Season 2 — is leaving, and Alonso is now poised to step into her stilettos. 

“Unfortunately, Ana Brenda Contreras will not be returning for the third season of Dynasty due to personal reasons,” executive producer/showrunner Josh Reims said. “We’d like to thank her for her contributions to the show and wish her all the best. We’re excited to welcome Daniella Alonso who will step into the role of Cristal.”

Dynasty has gone through a series of casting changes over the past two seasons. One of the original leads, Nathalie Kelley, departed at the end of Season 1. In addition, Elizabeth Gilliestook over the role of Alexis from Nicollette Sheridan.

Season 3 of Dynasty is set to premiere on Friday, October 11 at 9:00 pm ET.

Alonso to Star in ABC’s Drama Pilot “Las Reinas”

The 38-year-old Puerto Rican and Peruvian American actress has landed the lead role in ABC’s drama pilot Las Reinas.

(Animal Kingdom) has been cast as the lead in Las Reinas, ABC’s drama pilot from feature writer Dean Georgaris, ABC Studios and the Mark Gordon Co.

Las Reinas centers on Detective Sonya De La Reina (Alonso) who is forced to confront her past when a case compels her to reconnect with her estranged family – the most powerful criminal outfit in Miami. Thrust back into the world she thought she had left behind, Sonya must walk the murky line between the law and her family, and question her true destiny as a De La Reina. Sonia Braga co-stars.

Alonso, who starred on the NBC drama series Revolution, is coming off a season-long stint as a series regular on TNT’s dramas Animal Kingdom. She also recently recurred on The Night Shift and Being Mary Jane.

Pardo to Star in ABC’s Murder Trial Drama Pilot “The Jury”

The 35-year-old Argentine and El Salvadoran American actor has been cast as a series regular opposite Jeremy Sisto, Archie Panjabi and Kevin Rankin in ABC’s murder trial drama pilot The Jury.

Described as “12 Angry Men meets the podcast Serial,” the series follows a single murder trial a season as seen through the eyes of the individual jurors, exploring the biases and experiences that influence the jurors’ judgment and how their preconceptions change along the way.

Pardo, who starred in NBC’s Revolution, will portray Oscar, a U.S. Marine who signed up for the Corps straight out of high school and displays immense pride in his status as a soldier.

The 36-year-old Puerto Rican and Peruvian-American actress has landed a series regular role opposite Scott Speedman in TNT’s drama pilot Animal Kingdom.

The pilot centers on 17-year-old Joshua “J” Cody (Finn Cole), who moves in with his wild, freewheeling grandmother (Ellen Barkin) and uncles in their Southern California beach town after his mother overdoses.

He is pulled into their life of indulgence and excess and soon discovers that it’s all being funded by the bank robberies they commit.

Alonso, who starred on NBC’s sci-fi series Revolution, will portray Catherine, Baz’s (Speedman) de facto wife, and the mother of their 3-year- old daughter, Lena.

She most recently starred on the big screen opposite Kevin James in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.

The As the World Turns alum’s television credits include The Night Shift, Covert Affairs and Private Practice.

The 34-year-old half-Puerto Rican and part-Peruvian actress has been cast as Kevin James’ love interest in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, according to TheWrap.

The Andy Fickman-directed sequel finds Blart attending a Security Guard Expo in Las Vegas, where he takes on a group of dangerous art thieves.

Alonso will portray Divina Martinez, the general manager of the Wynn Hotel, who is completely perplexed when Blart presumes that she’s hitting on him. Flustered yet determined to clarify the situation, she reaches out to Blart several times, only to reinforce his original theory.

In addition to James and Alonso, Eduardo Verastegui, Selena Gomez’s Wizards of Waverly Place co-star David Henrie and Raini Rodriguez.

Alonso, who next stars on NBC‘s upcoming summer series The Night Shift, recently played fan favorite Nora Clayton on the network’s hit series Revolution.

She may have met her maker on NBC’s Revolution, but Daniella Alonso has find new life on another of the network’s dramas.

The 34-year-old half-Puerto Rican and part-Peruvian actress, who had a major role on the first season of NBC’s hit post-apocalypse series, has joined the cast of the NBC freshman series Night Shift.

The medical drama, from Sony Television, is set during the night shift at San Antonio Memorial’s emergency department.

Alonso will portray Landry, a tough Texas girl and the lone psychiatrist on the weekend night shift.

Pardo & Alonso’s “Revolution” Renewed for Second Season

It looks like Daniella Alonso and JD Pardo have hit pay-dirt… as long as their characters don’t meet an untimely end.

NBC has given an early renewal to its hit freshman series Revolution, which stars the 34-year-old Puerto Rican/Peruvian-American actress and 32-year-old Argentinean/Salvadoran American actor.

The network has given the sci-fi series a full-season, 22-episode pickup.

Revolution, the Monday night drama that centers on a family trying to reunite amidst a worldwide power failure, is executive produced by Eric Kripke, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk.

Revolution is the season’s top-rated drama on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox and the top-rated new series among those networks in adults 18-49, scoring a 4.6 rating, 12 share and 11.8 million viewers overall in “most current” averages for the season to date.

Pardo portrays Jason Neville on the series, while Alonso plays Nora Clayton.

Fernandez Lands Role on NBC’s “Revolution” Drama

The Madrid-born actor of Puerto Rican descent has signed on for a potential recurring role on NBC’s post-apocalyptic drama Revolution.

Fernandez will portray Capt. Franklin, a trusted soldier in Monroe’s inner circle, in the series that co-stars Daniella Alonso and JD Pardo.

Fernandez’s television credits include appearances on Sons of Anarchy, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, CSI: Miami, Southland and Cold Case. He also lent his voice to the Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City video game.

Johnson Lands Role in NBC’s “About a Boy” Pilot

Anjelah N. Johnson is about (a boy) to start work on her next project…

The 30-year-old half-Mexican American actress and stand-up comedian has landed a role in NBC’s pilot About a Boy, which is based on Nick Hornby’s novel of the same name, as well as the 2002 Hugh Grant film it inspired.

The pilot – written by Jason Katims and directed by Revolution’s Jon Favreau – centers on  Will (portrayed by David Walton), a bachelor man-child going through a revolving door of women, and the young boy who moves in next door with his quirky single mom, Fiona (portrayed by Minnie Driver).

Johnson has been cast as Laurie, the well-meaning but often overbearing wife of Will’s best friend and a mother of three frustrated by Will’s childishness.

She, who previously co-starred in the 2011 NBC comedy pilot My Life is an Experiment, gained acclaim for portraying one of the most notable characters from Fox’s sketch comedy series MADtv, rude fast food employee Bon Qui Qui. Johnson’s other credits include a guest-starring role on Ugly Betty and appearances in the films Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and Our Family Wedding.
