Carey Notches 17th No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs Chart with “You’re Mine (Eternal)”

Mariah Carey has plenty of reason to dance

The 44-year-old half-Venezuelan American singer-songwriter has notched her 17th No. 1 on Billboard‘s Dance Club Songs chart with her single “You’re Mine (Eternal).”

Mariah Carey

Carey first topped the chart on her first try, with “Someday” back in 1991.

She tallied her most recent chart-topper with her last charted title, “Triumphant (Get ‘Em),” in October 2012.

“Mine” reached the Dance Club Songs summit with a little help from remixers Fedde Le Grand, Chus and Ceballos, Gregor Salto and Funkin Matt, and Riddler, among others.

The new leader previews Carey’s forthcoming first studio album in five years.

Carey, the soloist with the most No. 1s (18) in the Billboard Hot 100‘s history, says in the current Billboard cover story that she “wanted [the new set] to be something I could be proud of, whether it’s like, ‘Yay, No. 1 song!,’ and this and that. However things end up happening, we’ve all worked so hard. The true lambily [her family of hardcore fans] have all worked so hard to break all these Billboard records, and to have this incredible experience with me, that I want them to have this almost as a gift.”

Dating to the Dance Club Songs chart’s Aug. 28, 1976, inception as a national survey, Carey moves up among the artists with the most No. 1s.

Here’s a look at the acts with the list’s most leaders:

15, Donna Summer

Lea Michele is offering an extra personal glimpse into her life…

The 27-year-old part-Spanish actress/singer and Glee star has announced the next single from her debut album Louder.

Lea Michele

Entitled “You’re Mine,” the song is a moving ballad that is a tribute to her late boyfriend and co-star, Cory Monteith, who died in July.

Michele gave fans an early listen to one of her most personal tracks by sharing a link to the full audio track for “You’re Mine.”

“My next . . . track #YOUREMINE (available tomorrow) is my favorite song on #LOUDER,” she tweeted Monday. “It’s so special to me & its story is so close to my heart.”

The song’s heartfelt lyrics include, “And you said those three words I’ve been waiting for/ You became a part of me,” as well as “You’re mine, for life/ And I’ll be by your side/ We are entwined/ You’re mine, for life.”

Michele spoke about the song, and its special meaning, to Elle late last year. “The album was done, and the label said, ‘Do you want to add anything?’ I was like, ‘I might regret it if I don’t,'” she said at the time. “It makes me think so much of Cory. It was ours. When I think if him, I play this.”

Her debut album, Louder, is set to be released on March 4, 2014.

Michele Filming Official Music Video for First Solo Album’s Lead Single

She may have starred in numerous musical numbers as Glee’s beloved Rachel Berry over the last five years… But Lea Michele is now getting ready to star in her own special clip.

The 27-year-old part-Spanish American singer and one of the stars of Fox’s hot dramedy is filming her first-ever music video as a solo artist. And, she’s shared behind-the-scenes images from her shoot.

“So excited shooting my very first music video today for the first album single,” she tweeted.

Michele has been working on her debut studio album, which is due out sometime next year.

Just one day before her music video shoot, Michele shared some more behind-the-scenes photos from rehearsals for her first live performance of her single.

The songs on the upcoming album will include a song called “You’re Mine,” which Michele said was a tribute to her late boyfriend and co-star, Cory Monteith, who died in July at the age of 31.

“It makes me so happy, this song,” she told E! Online. “It makes me think so much of Cory. It was ours. When I think if him, I play this.”

Michele is the latest Glee star to branch out on their own musically. Naya Rivera released her first single, “Sorry,” in September. And Matthew Morrison has released two albums since Glee launched and will release a special holiday EP, A Classic Christmas, this week.
