Cardi B Leads Pack of BET Hip Hop Awards Nominees with 12

The 30-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar and 21 Savage are the leading nominees for the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards with 12 nominations each.

Cardi BThe two artists are going head-to-head in seven categories – best collaboration, lyricist of the year, hip-hop artist of the year, hustler of the year, best hip-hop video, sweet 16: best featured verse and song of the year.

Drake is next in line with nine nods. He is followed on the leaderboard by Burna Boy and DJ Khaled with seven nods each; J. Cole with six nods; Coi Leray, GloRilla and Jay-Z with five nods each; Lil Uzi Vert with four; and DaBaby, Kendrick Lamar, Latto, Lil Durk, Megan Thee Stallion and Metro Boomin with three nods each.

Meanwhile, Ice Spice has picked up two nods.

The 23-year-old half-Dominican American rapper is up for Best Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist and Best Collaboration for “Princess Diana,” her track with Nicki Minaj.

Five women rappers rank among the most nominated, with Cardi B followed by Leray, GloRilla, Latto and Megan Thee Stallion.

The show will tape in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 3, and will premiere on BET one week later, on Tuesday, October 10, at 9:00 pm ET/PT.

“This year’s BET Hip Hop Awards will mark the culmination of our yearlong celebration of hip-hop’s storied creation and the art form’s sonic and cultural expansion,” Connie Orlando, BET’s EVP specials, music programming & music strategy, said in a statement. “We are honored by this year’s roster of nominees as they continue to carry the creativity and diversity of hip hop into the future. We congratulate each nominee on their accomplishments as they take hip hop artistry to new heights.”

BET promises that “the telecast will salute 50 years of hip-hop with not-to-be-missed moments and performances.”

Fans can start voting for DJ of the year, producer of the year, and best hip hop platform on Tuesday, September 12, at noon ET on the BET website, where more information about the awards is also available.

Peso Pluma to Make Debut Performance at MTV Video Music Awards

Peso Pluma is preparing to make a grand debut appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The 24-year-old Mexican singer-songwriter has been added to the list of performers for the upcoming MTV VMAs.

Peso PlumaPeso Pluma, who is nominated for Best New Artist, Best Latin and Song of the Summer, is part of a roster of new performer additions that includes Fall Out Boy, Metro Boomin with Future, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie and Swae Lee & NAV.

They join previously announced Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Wayne, Anitta, Doja Cat, Kelsea Ballerini, Tomorrow X TogetherDemi Lovato, Karol G, Måneskin and Stray Kids.

Minaj will reprise her dual role at the VMAs as show emcee and performer for the 2023 live event from New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Tuesday, September 12.

Taylor Swift leads the pack in nominations with eight. Other multi-nominated artists include SZA with six noms, Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Smith with five each, and Blackpink, Diddy and Shakira with four each.

Fans can vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including “Video of the Year,” at vote.mtv.com through Friday, September 1st; voting for “Best New Artist” will remain active into the show on Tuesday, September 12th.

Cardi B to Perform at the First-Ever Bud Light Super Bowl Music Festival

On Location Experiences, the hospitality partner that works with the NFL and Bud Light, will host a special live music event leading up to next year’s Super Bowl, and they’ve locked in the 26-year-old half-Dominican American rap sensation as one of the performers.

The first ever Bud Light Super Bowl Music Festival will take place over three nights at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena between Thursday, January 31 and Saturday, February 2 ahead of Super Bowl LIII.

Day one of the festival will feature LudacrisMigosLil YachtyLil BabyMetro Boomin and a DJ set by Lil Jon.

Day two will be headlined by Aerosmith. Bruno Mars and Cardi B have been on the tour and are currently sojourned at the Amway Center. After their performance at the Amway centre, they will take over the from Aerosmith and continue Day three.

“Atlanta is a city with such a strong music culture, that we wanted to work together with our partners at On Location Experiences to bring a music festival to the city that has something for everyone and pays homage to the city’s history of iconic music,” said Shana Barry, Director of Experiential, Bud Light. “Between bringing some of the biggest acts out there right now along with some local Atlanta flavor, we hope that we can give people a chance to come together, drink a few beers and have an unforgettable experience during Super Bowl weekend.”

In addition to the star-studded lineup, the festival will also feature celebrity and athlete appearances.

Claudio, who released her debut project, About Time, in October 2017 after garnering a devoted online fanbase. Dons a cozy hoodie that seems to be a fitting look for the woman who describes her style as “lazy, sexy, cool.”

Claudio appears opposite other young individuals in the entertainment industry, including SZA, Metro Boomin, Miles Heizer and Awkwafina — for the clothing line’s latest campaign called Gap Logo Remix.

The new campaign also comes complete with a video of the new stars dancing and having fun to a Metro Boomin-created remix of the ’80s pop smash “Hold Me Now” by the Thompson Twins, while all dressed in casual Gap attire.

Pitbull to Perform at This Week’s MLB All-Star Events

The 36-year-old Cuban-American rap superstar will perform during ceremonies Monday night before the Major League Baseball’s All-Star Home Run Derby.

Bebe Rexha will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” Tuesday night before the All-Star Game at Marlins Park and Jocelyn Alice will sing “O Canada.”

Jennifer Hudson will sing at a private party in Miami Beach hosted by Stand Up to Cancer and Mastercard on Sunday night, when there also will be a New Era event with Amine and Metro Boomin.

Lenny Kravitz will perform Monday night at the Major League Baseball Players Association party in Miami.

Rapper Lil Jon was to perform at the All-Star 5K on Saturday night and Don Omar at the All-Star Zumba experience on Sunday, when Flo Rida is to give a show at Marlins Park between the All-Star Futures Game and the celebrity softball game.
