Mariel Molino to Star in ABC’s Drama Pilot “Promised Land”

Mariel Molino is headed to the Promised Land…

The Mexican American actress has been cast as a lead alongside Christina Ochoa in ABC’s drama pilot Promised Land.

Written by Matt Lopez, the project is an epic, generation-spanning drama about two Latinx families vying for wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley.

Molino will play Camila Sandoval, the youngest daughter of the Sandoval family, a wealthy vineyard-owning family in the Sonoma Valley. Her flirtatious, party-girl attitude masks a deeply flawed young woman who craves the achievements of her other siblings but has no idea how to attain them. No one expects anything from Camila. That makes her dangerous.

Ochoa plays her sister, Veronica Sandoval, the eldest daughter of the Sandovals.

Lopez executive produces with Adam Kolbrenner of Lit Entertainment Group. ABC Signature is the studio.

This marks the first major English-language role for Molino, who was born to Mexican parents in San Diego. She starred in Amazon’s Spanish-language original movie Locas por el Cambio, which was released on Amazon Prime in November. Her television credits include recurring roles in NBC Universo’s El Vato and Amazon’s Juego de las Llaves.

There’s plenty of promise in Christina Ochoa’s future…

The 36-year-old Spanish actress and Animal Kingdom star is set as a lead in ABC’s Promised Land, Matt Lopez’s Latinx family drama pilot.

Formerly titled American Heritage, the project is an epic, generation-spanning drama about two Latinx families vying for wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley.

Ochoa will play Veronica Sandoval, the eldest daughter of the Sandovals, a wealthy vineyard-owning family in the Sonoma Valley. Veronica is the highly capable heir to the Heritage Wines empire and her father Joe’s trusted Number Two. But her drive and ambition have left her with some glaring personal blindspots, and Veronica’s seemingly perfect life soon starts to unravel.

Lopez writes and executive produces. Adam Kolbrenner of Lit Entertainment Group also exec produces. ABC Signature is the studio.

Up next for Ochoa is Boon, the western sequel film from Yellowstone’s Neal McDonough. She stars as Renn Randall in TNT’s Animal Kingdom, which was recently renewed for a sixth and final season, and as Ashley Morales in ABC’s A Million Little Things. She has also appeared in Valor, Blood Drive, Matador and I Hate My Teenage Daughter.

Christina Ochoa to Star in the Western “Boon”

Boon goes the dynamite for Christina Ochoa…

The 36-year-old Spanish actress will star in Boon, the upcoming western sequel film from Yellowstone’s Neal McDonough.

Boon is a spiritual sequel to the movie Red Stone that takes place in the distant future and picks up with henchman Nick Boon (McDonough) trying to get on with his life. At the same time we learn, our Preacher, the widowed Catherine, played by Christiane Seidel, is busy trying to protect herself and her son from a local criminal organization that is using her land for some unusual activities. When Boon and Catherine’s lives cross paths they find themselves leaning on each other to protect everything they stand for.

Derek Presley, who directed the first installment returns to helm Boon and is co-writing.

In addition to Ochoa, the film features Jake Melrose, James Madio, and John Patrick Jordan. Stephen Endelman is lending his musical talents for the film’s score.

Ochoa recently starred as Renn Randall in TNT’s Animal Kingdom and as Ashely Morales in ABC’s A Million Little Things.

She has also appeared in Valor, Blood Drive, Matador and I Hate My Teenage Daughter.

Christina Ochoa Signs with Buchwald Talent

Christina Ochoa has new representation…

The 34-year-old Spanish actress and producer has signed with Buchwald.

Ochoa currently appears in the recurring role of Ren Randall on TNT’s Animal Kingdom. She most recently starred in the ABCdrama series A Million Little Things and was previously the lead on The CW’s Valor.

She also has appeared on Modern Family, I Hate My Teenage Daughter and The Neighbors.

Off screen, Ochoa runs her production company – QE Productions – which was behind the 2011 short film Stay withMe that garnered awards at film festivals in the U.S. and Europe.

Ochoa continues to be managed by Anonymous Content.

Christina Ochoa Reveals Her Hero in CARE’s International Women’s Day #HerInHERO Campaign Video

Christina Ochoa is celebrating her hero as part of this year’s International Women’s Daycommemorations…

The 34-year-old Spanish actress, a star on ABC’s drama series A Million Little Things, appears in a new video released by humanitarian non-profit organization CARE as part of its #HerInHERO campaign.

In the black-and-white clip, 30 female celebrities – including Ochoa, Kelly Clarkson, Sophia Bush, Jess Glynne and others — name their personal female heroes. Most, including Clarkson, discuss the impact their mothers have had on their lives.

But Ochoa claimed marine biologist Sylvia Earleas her hero, saying, “She has pioneered the role of women in STEM and marine sciences, inspiring the lives of young women.”

Meanwhile, Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriznamed country music legend Dolly Parton as her hero.

International Women’s Day is Friday, March 8.

Syfy Releases Trailer for Ochoa’s Grindhouse Cinema-Inspired Series “Blood Drive”

Christina Ochoa is blood thirsty…

Syfy has released the first trailer for its upcoming grindhouse cinema-inspired series Blood Drive starring the 32-year-old Spanish actress and Alan Ritchson.

After Los Angeles’ last good cop (Ritchson) is forced to join a twisted cross-country death race, his only hope of survival is a dangerous femme fatale who has the need for speed (Ochoa). Oh, and there’s no need for gasoline. “What the f*ck? These cars run on human blood?” asks Ritchson. “Have you seen gas prices lately?”, replies Grace.

The trailer promises each week of the series will feature a new grindhouse inspiration – cannibals, monsters, cults, lawmen, and nymphos and amazons.

The series hails from Universal Cable Productions. James Roland (Weeds) created the project and is a co-executive producer on the series.

Blood Drive premieres June 14 at 10 PM on Syfy.

Ochoa’s credits include a series regular roles on Matador and a recurring role on Animal Kingdom.

Ochoa to Star in the CW’s Military Drama/Conspiracy Thriller Pilot “Valor”

It’s a special show of Valor for Christina Ochoa.

The 32-year-old Spanish actress will star opposite Matt Barr in Valor, the CW’s serialized military drama/conspiracy thriller pilot written by writer-musician Kyle Jarrow and directed by Michael Robin.

In Valor, the boundaries between military discipline and human desire are tested on a U.S. Army base that houses an elite unit of helicopter pilots trained to perform clandestine international and domestic missions.

The project centers on chopper pilots Nora (Ochoa) and Gallo (Barr) who, after a botched mission in Somalia leaves a pair of American servicemen in enemy hands, train for a rescue operation and only they share a very large secret from the initial operation — a secret that must never come to the attention of the Army.

Ochoa’s Nora is an intense and driven junior Army pilot who is a member of the Night Raiders special ops unit. Partnered with the more experienced Gallo, together they fly choppers in and out of the hottest hot spots in the world.

Ochoa plays Renn Randall on TNT’s Animal Kingdom and also stars in Syfy’s new grindhouse cinema-inspired drama series Blood Drive, which premieres this summer.

Roday to Direct Two Episodes of Syfy’s Grindhouse-Inspired Drama “Blood Drive”

James Roday has extra Drive…

The 40-year-old Mexican American actor and former Psych star has been hired to direct two episodes of Blood Drive, Syfy’s 13-episode straight-to-series, grindhouse cinema-inspired drama.

Set in a near-apocalyptic future, the series revolves around Arthur Bailey (Alan Ritchson), the last good cop in Los Angeles, and Grace (Christina Ochoa), his dangerous femme fatale partner with an agenda of her own. When Grace is forced to partner with Arthur, she’s not thrilled, to say the least. But soon she might learn that this genuinely moral, nice guy is also a determined survivor, with whom she might have more in common than she had ever imagined.

The gruesome thriller is from UCP, and James Roland, who created the series and penned the pilot, will serve as co-executive producer.

The series is in production in South Africa.

Roday is best known for his eight-year run as the hyper-observant consultant detective Shawn Spencer on UCP’s and USA Network’s hit comedy Psych, for which he also wrote and directed several episodes.

He made his theatrical directorial debut with the horror-comedy Gravy and has directed TV series including Fox’s Rosewood and CBS’ Rush Hour.

Ochoa Lands Recurring Role on TNT’s “Animal Kingdom”

Christina Ochoa is moving to a new kingdom…

The 31-year-old Spanish actress has landed a recurring role on TNT’s upcoming drama series Animal Kingdom.

Hailing from John Wells Prods. in association with Warner Horizon Television, the pilot centers on 17-year-old Joshua “J” Cody (Finn Cole), who moves in with his wild, freewheeling grandmother (Ellen Barkin) and uncles in their Southern California beach town after his mother ODs. He is pulled into their life of indulgence and excess and soon discovers that it’s all being funded by the bank robberies they commit.

Ochoa will portray Renn Randall, a sexy, irreverent surfer who is Craig’s (Ben Robson) lover and drug connection.

Ochoa recurred on El Rey Network’s Matador. Her other credits include guest spots on The Neighbors, Modern Family and I Hate My Teenage Daughter.
