The Dominican actor has booked a recurring role on the third season of CBS’ military drama series SEAL Team.

Starring David BoreanazSEAL Team follows the professional and personal lives of the most elite unit of Navy SEALsas they train, plan and execute the most dangerous missions that our country can ask of them. 

Lopez will play Carlos Ramos, a CIAagent operating under a NOC (Non-Official Cover) who has been discovered/captured by the Venezuelan government. He’s being held captive and risks being moved from South America to Middle East. His previous television credits include For the People and the miniseries When We Rise, and in film he was seen in Jungle and American Sniper.

The 45-year-old Puerto Rican actor and gay rights activist will executive produce Apple’s new docuseries Visible: Out On Television to its growing slate of original series on Apple TV+.

The five-part television event shines a spotlight on how the LGBTQ movement shaped television and comes from Emmy-nominated filmmakers Ryan White and Jessica Hargrave

Visible: Out on Televisioninvestigates the importance of television as a medium that has shaped the American conscience, and how the LGBTQ movement influenced what we watch on TV.

Each hour-long episode will explore themes like invisibility, homophobia, the evolution of the LGBTQ character, and coming out in the television industry. 

The docuseries includes archival footage as well as interviews with key players from the movement and the screen. 

Visible will feature Janet MockMargaret ChoAsia Kate DillonNeil Patrick Harris and Lena Waithe as narrators. It will also include never-before-seen interviews with Ellen DeGeneresOprah WinfreyAnderson CooperBilly PorterRachel Maddow, Don LemonSara RamirezJesse Tyler Ferguson, among others in the community.

In addition to Cruz, the docuseries will be executive produced by Wanda Sykes.

Visible: Out On Television willdebut on February 14, 2020, exclusively on Apple TV+.

Cruz is known for playing Rickie Vasquez on My So-Called Life, and Angel in the Broadway tour production of Rent. His other credits include Star Trek: Discovery, Noah’s Arc, and Party of Five.

Camila Cabello’s “Señorita” with Shawn Mendes Appears on “Grammy Nominees 2020” Album

The 22-year-old Mexican and Cuban American singer appears on the compilation album Grammy Nominees 2020, which is set for release on January 17 through Warner Records.

Cabello’s collaboration with Shawn Mendes, “Señorita,” appears on the album. The track is nominated in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.

Slightly more than half of the tracks on the album (11 out of 21) made the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Seven of them reached No. 1 on that chart, including Cabello’s “Señorita.”

All eight nominees for record and album of the year are represented on the collection. So are all five nominees for best pop duo/group performance, best pop vocal album, and best country duo/group performance.

Song of the year nominees that are missing from the collection are Lady Gaga‘s “Always Remember Us This Way” from A Star Is BornTanya Tucker‘s “Bring My Flowers Now” and Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved.”

Best new artist nominees not represented are Black PumasMaggie RogersRosalía,Tank and the Bangasand Yola.

The Grammy Nominees franchise is in its 26th year. A portion of album process will benefit the Grammy Museumand MusiCares.

Marta Nieto to Star in Kike Maíllo’s English-Language Thriller “A Perfect Enemy”

The 37-year-old Spanish actress is starring in the thriller A Perfect Enemy, which is currently shooting.

Nieto is starring opposite Tomasz KotAthena Strates and Dominique Pinonin the English-language film, which follows a sophisticated and successful businessman approached in an airport by a chatty woman with sinister intentions. 

Cameras are due to roll until February 2020 in Reus, Barcelona, Paris and Frankfurt.

From Spanish firm Sábado Películas, French outfit The Project Film Club and German’s Barry Films, the feature is an adaptation of novel Cosmétique de l’Ennemiby Amélie Nothomb, which was translated into 24 languages.

Spanish helmer Kike Maíllo directs from a screenplay by Cristina ClementeFernando Navarro and Maíllo. It marks the filmmaker’s third film. His debut Evawas awarded a Goya Awardfor Best New Director.

Nieto’s previous credits include Madre and Hermanos y detectives. 

Paramount Releases New Trailer for Monica Barbaro’s “Top Gun: Maverick”

Paramount has released the second trailer for Top Gun: Maverickthe studio’s long-anticipated sequel to the action classic about a U.S. Navy pilot’s daring airborne exploits starring the 29-year-old part-Mexican American actress.

The new footage unveils a little more plot of the film, with Tom Cruise’s fighter pilot Maverick now in an instructor role, training the next generation of pilots including Miles Teller’s Bradley Bradshaw, the son of the character Goose from the original movie.

Maverick appears to be putting his recruits through an intense training program, with the trailer featuring one hair-raising shot where he flies his jet narrowly between two of their planes.

It appears the film will also contain a tragic subplot, with shots of Maverick and Jennifer Connelly’s character – reportedly playing the protagonist’s love interest – getting emotional while attending a Navy funeral.

Rounding out the footage are the expected motorcycle shots, dialogue exchanges highlighting Maverick’s disregard for authority, plus some shirtless volleyball for good measure.

In addition to Cruise, Connelly and Barbaro, who portrays pilot trainee “Phoenix,”the movie’s cast also includes Jon Hamm, Glen PowellLewis PullmanCharles ParnellBashir Salahuddin, Jay EllisDanny RamirezGreg Tarzan Davis and Ed Harris.

The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, flies into theaters on June 26, 2020.

CBS All Access Renews Santiago Cabrera’s “Star Trek: Picard” for Second Season

Star Trek: Picard, starring the half-Chilean Venezuelan actor, has been given the green light for a second season before its series debut next month.

Like the first season of the series that’ll premiere on CBS All Access on January 23, Season 2 of the Patrick Stewart-led Picard looks to be a 10-episode order for the streamer. 

As a part of that second season, the latest venture in the Alex Kurtzmanmarshaled Trekversehas been allocated over $20.4 million in California tax incentives.

CBS declined to comment on a Season 2 for the Cabrera, Michelle HurdAlison PillHarry Treadaway and Evan Evagora co-starring series. But, with plans already publicly in place for current showrunner Michael Chabon to shift roles in a second season, the Next Gen alum Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner and Jeri Ryan featuring Picard was clearly going for that next final frontier with seems sure to be a big draw and a flagship show for the relatively new and bulking up subscription-based streamer.

The series is produced by CBS Television StudiosSecret Hideoutand Roddenberry Entertainment.

Star Trek: Picardwill drop new episodes weekly for Season 1 on CBS All Access and is expected to do the same for the late 2020 or early 2021 penciled in Season 2. With Star Trek: Picardhaving recently wrapped up its first season, Deadline.com reports that Season 2 could be making the jump to production warp speed as early as next spring.

First having given fans a real taste of the series at San Diego Comic-Con last summer, the cast and producers of Picardstepped around the issue of a Season 2 at the Brazilian Comic-Con in Sao Paulo last week. Now they don’t have to be so light footed.

Star Trek: Picarddebuts in North America on the same day that the 2020 Sundance Film Festivallaunches on CBS All Access. The very next day, on January 24, the series will hit more than 200 countries and territories on Amazon Prime Video.
