We would also like to encourage you to join us in supporting those in need as well as the first responders who have been working tirelessly to keep Californians safe.”

HOW & NOSM Tapped by Bono to Take Part in New Red Initiative to Raise Awareness in the Fight Against AIDS, Paint (Red) Save Lives

HOW & NOSMare helping fight AIDS

The Spanish graffiti artists, comprised of twins Raoul Perre (HOW) and Davide Perre (NOSM) have been tapped by rock legend and philanthropist Bono on a new initiative to raise awareness in the fight against against the disease.

HOW & NOSM

Bono, one of the founders of the global AIDS charity RED, has tapped 17 artists to paint murals in New York, Washington, Lyon, London, Berlin and Paris in advance of next month’s Global Fund Replenishment Conference in Lyon (October 10), with HOW & NOSM making the list.

“Street artists have been raising the alarm in the fight against AIDS since HIV appeared — from the streets of New York in the 1980s, and now in the next weeks in cities around the world with Paint (RED) Save Lives,” said Bono in a statement. “There has been a lot of progress, more than many experts predicted, but not enough yet to put the sirens to rest. Young women continue to bear the brunt of this disease and maddeningly, every week 6,000 of them are needlessly infected. I’d call that an emergency. (RED) is the color of emergency.”

In addition to HOW & NOSM, the other chosen artists creating (RED)-inspired art for the project are: Add FuelBisco SmithBRUSKDALeastFaileFaith XLVIIHeraInside Out Project,Karabo Poppy MoletsaneLudoOlekRon EnglishStephen PowersTrevor & Cosmo, and WK Interact. There will also be a PAINT (RED)street art auction on Artsyto raise additional money for the Global Fund.

The artworks are intended to engage and encourage political leaders to fully fund the fight against AIDS, with key sites in New York, D.C., Berlin and Paris getting transformed during this month and early October ahead of the Global Fund meeting that will determine funding for the next three years to help save 16 million lives while cutting the mortality rate from HIV, TB and malaria in half.

Some of the artists have also created custom augmented reality Snapchat Lenses, which users can share on InstagramFacebookand Twitter.

HOW & NOSMhave created elaborate murals for commercial clients like Sony. The brothers have lectured at universities including MITand their work has appeared in numerous films, music videos, documentaries, and the windows of the historic department store, Lord and Taylor. Andy Garcia to Serve as Master of Ceremony at This Year’s Monte Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean

Andy Garcia is about to master a royal stage…

Prince Albert II of Monaco has assembled a starry program for his upcoming gala, the Third Monte Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean, with the 63-year-old Cuban actor set to serve alongside Nicole Kidman and Uma Thurman as the masters of ceremony.

Andy Garcia

The fundraiser, for the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, will take place on September 26, closing out a week of events dedicated to ocean health and preservation.

Robert Redford, Nicole Kidman, Gwen Stefani, Andrea Bocelli, Robin Thicke and Kool & the Gang have confirmed their attendance.

Redford will be honored for his career and commitment to environmental protection, while Stefani, Bocelli and Kool & the Gang will perform for guests. Thicke will headline the after-party in the private lounges at Casino de Monte-Carlo where it’s expected to last until dawn.

“Above all, the ocean is a vital component for our global balance. It represents 97% of its biosphere. It is host to the majority of living species, produces most of the oxygen we breathe, regulates our climate and generates 60% of the ecosystem services which enable us to live. Sadly, however, the ocean is also symbol of our irresponsibility. It suffers all the damage we inflict on our planet,” said Prince Albert in a statement. “That’s why this year’s Gala for the Global Ocean in Monte Carlo is so important. Let us hope that together we will be able to lay the foundations for a humanity built on respect for the sea and the planet.”

But there’s one more celebrity who is expected to make a guest appearance: Sophia AI. Also known as Sophia the Robot, the human-looking creation who actively tweets to her 137,000 followers, will take the stage along with the human stars.

All proceeds from the Monte-Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean and its auction will support the Foundation’s Global Ocean initiatives, including the development of marine protected areas, the protection of threatened marine species, the mitigation of the impact of climate change and acidification on the Ocean as well as and the fight against plastic pollution. The Foundation has donated more than 55 million euros to initiate or support more than 470 projects around the world.

Rosario Dawson’s Save-Our-Soil Documentary “The Need to GROW” to Be Available for Free Viewing Online

Rosario Dawson is ready to let Grow online…

The Need to GROW, a documentary from Rob Herring and Ryan Wirick and narrated by the 40-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban American actress/activist about the fight to save the planet’s vanishing topsoil, will be available for free for five days next month after its L.A. premiere.

Rosario Dawson

The rare move comes ahead of the film, already a festival winner, having its L.A. premiere October 9 at the Landmarkin Westwood.

With only 60 years of farmable soil left on Earth, the documentary highlights the importance of topsoil and the thought leaders looking for sustainable solutions to its preservation.

“To say that we care about the future of this planet,” Dawson, who also is an executive producer, says in the trailer,” to say that we care about the survival of our species, and not take action, is simply no longer an option.”

The Need To GROW is an underdog story that the world needs desperately right now,” said Herring. “The way the environmental heroes in this story overcome challenges is an important metaphor for how so many of us are feeling regarding ecological issues. It’s a chance for viewers to not only learn about urgent problems in our food system – but more so to embrace the astonishing potential of healthy soil as a climate solution. This is why we decided to give the film away as a gift to the world. The conversation needs to change.”

The film will be available free to all viewers globally October 10-15 in partnership with Food Revolution Network

It can be watched at http://www.TheNeedToGROW.com.
