LaRue to Appear in ABC Comedy PIlot Featuring Mandy Moore

Should CBS not renew CSI: Miami for another season, series co-star Eva LaRue has a back-up plan.

The 45-year-old part-Puerto Rican actress has signed on to appear on ABC’s comedy pilot starring Mandy Moore, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Eva La Rue

LaRue—who rose to fame playing Dr. Maria Santos on All My Children—will guest star in the pilot with an option to become a series regular should the project move to series.

The untitled comedy explores the inherent conflict that exists between the families we grow up in and the ones we make as adults. It will be told through the perspective of Annie (Moore) and Ben, a young newlywed couple who get the opportunity of a lifetime to run a hip, new restaurant in Annie’s hometown, bringing her closer to her needy and high-maintenance family.

LaRue, who currently plays Detective Natalia Boa Vista on the long-running CSI spinoff, will play Veronica, one of Annie’s sisters.

The fate of CSI: Miami, now in its 10th season at the Eye Network, remains unclear as the spinoff starring David Caruso wasn’t one of the networks early series renewals this month.

LaRue joins a cast that includes Stockard Channing, who is set to play Barbara, the warm, devoted and sometimes overbearing and manipulative matriarch of Moore’s family. Kurt Fuller will play her husband Steve, who is described as a good-natured guy and dad who’s used to taking a back seat to his take-charge wife. Erinn Hayes and Majandra Delfino co-star in the project.

The Moore pilot would be LaRue’s first potential comedy series gig after more than 150 episodes of CSI: Miami. She recurred on the show during Season 4 and became a series regular the following season (2006-07).

And if that’s not all… The video includes a cameo from All My Children’s Susan Lucci, as well as Estefan’s daughter Emily wailing on the drums.

Shot in Miami, the clip includes a laser light show, Estefan’s drag doppelganger, swing-dancing and more!

J.R. Martinez is relaxing after an oh-so-rosy day in Southern California…

The former All My Children star sat alongside his pregnant girlfriend in an open car as fans cheered and waved. Martinez seemed overwhelmed by his own status as  he greeted welcoming crowds along the Colorado Boulevard route.

J.R. Martinez

“It’s been a beautiful four days,” said Martinez of the experience. “The people are so nice and so accommodating. I can see why this tradition continues.”
