John Leguizamo to Star in Apple‘s Upcoming Drama Series “Firebug”

John Leguizamo is buggin’…

The 63-year-old Colombian Emmy– & Tony Award-winning actor will star alongside Taron Egerton in Apple‘s upcoming drama series Firebug.

John LeguizamoHailing from Apple Studios and creator Dennis Lehane, the series will be directed and executive-produced by Kari Skogland.

Written by Lehane and loosely inspired by true events, Firebug will follow a troubled detective and an enigmatic arson investigator (Egerton) as they pursue the trails of two serial arsonists.

Leguizamo with play Esposito, a former policeman with a lot of bad habits and a lot of good instincts.

Jurnee Smollett will also star in the series.

In addition to starring, Egerton will serve as executive producer alongside Richard Plepler through Eden Productions, Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas through Imperative Entertainment and Kary Antholis.

Leguizamo is host and executive producer of MSNBC’s hit travel show, Leguizamo Does America, which is currently in production on its second season.

He recently starred in Amazon series The Power, alongside Toni Collette, in Showtime’s five-part drama series Waco: The Aftermath, and in Mark Mylod’s horror comedy The Menu.

Leguizamo stars in the independent film Bob Trevino Likes It, which recently premiered at SXSW, winning the SXSW Grand Jury Award and the Audience Award in the Narrative Feature category.

He also stars as federal agent Gordon Rogers in The Green Veil drama series, which he produced alongside director Aram Rappaport.

Upcoming, he hosts the PBS documentary series American Historia: The Untold History of Latinos, a project he co-created with director Ben De Jesus. He’ll also be seen in the upcoming thriller feature Tin Soldier, opposite Robert Di Niro, Jamie Foxx and Rita Ora.

Cameron Diaz In Talks to Star in Apple Original Films’ Dark Comedy “Outcome”

Cameron Diaz is looking at all possible outcomes

The 51-year-old Cuban American actress is in final talks to co-star opposite Keanu Reeves in Apple Original Films’ dark comedy Outcome.

Co-written by Hill and Ezra WoodsOutcome follows Reef (Reeves), a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip.

An Apple Studios production, the film will be produced by Matt Dines, Ali Goodwin and Hill under their Strong Baby banner.

The film marks the latest collaboration for Hill and Apple Original Films; they are also developing a Grateful Dead biopic with Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, to be directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. Hill is starring and producing under Strong Baby with Dines and Goodwin.

After taking a long break from acting, Diaz, known for her roles in such hits as Bad Teacher, The Mask and There’s Something About Maryis making a strong return, starring this year in the Netflix action comedy Back in Action opposite Jamie Foxx.

Outcome will mark her first role since Sony’s Annie in 2014.

Since then, Diaz has still been busy on other fronts when she added author to her list of accomplishments with the 2014 publication of the New York Times bestseller The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the Science of Strength, and Other Ways to Love Your Amazing Body, followed by The Longevity Book: The Science of Aging, the Biology of Strength, and the Privilege of Time in 2017.

In 2020, Cameron and serial entrepreneur Katherine Power launched Avaline, a collection of organically farmed wines.

Apple TV+ Releases First Look Images of Ricky Martin’s New Series “Palm Royale”

Ricky Martin has entered Palm Beach’s elite circles…

Apple TV+ has released first look images of Kristen Wiig’s Palm Beach-set comedy series Palm Royale, starring the 51-year-old Puerto Rican Grammy-winning singer and Emmy-nominated actor.

In addition to Wiig and Martin, the stellar ensemble cast includes Laura DernAllison Janney, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Mindy Cohn, Julia Duffy and Kaia Gerber.

Bruce Dern and Carol Burnett will guest star.

Loosely based on Juliet McDaniel’s novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie and produced by Apple Studios, Palm Royale is a true underdog story that follows Maxine Simmons (Wiig) as she endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, Palm Royale asks the same question that still baffles us today: “How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?” Set during the powder keg year of 1969, Palm Royale is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong.

Wagner Moura to Star in Apple TV+’s Crime Drama Series “Sinking Spring”

Wagner Moura is springing forward with a new television project…

The 46-year-old Brazilian actor and Narcos star will star opposite Brian Tyree Henry in Apple TV+’s crime drama series Sinking Spring, from Top Gun: Maverick writer Peter Craig, in a recasting.

The recasting is being done during filming on the series, directed and executive produced by Ridley Scott via his Scott Free Productions.

Based on Dennis Tafoya’s book Dope Thief, Sinking Spring follows long-time Philly friends and delinquents who pose as DEA agents to rob an unknown house in the countryside, only to have their small-time grift become a life-and-death enterprise, as they unwittingly reveal and unravel the biggest hidden narcotics corridor on the Eastern seaboard.

Moura will play Manny Cespedes, a good-hearted friend of Ray’s (Henry), who he first met when they did time together in the Youth Authority.

Craig created the eight-episode series, executive produces and directs one episode. Scott executive produces for Scott Free Productions.

The series hails from Apple Studios and will be produced by Scott Free Productions.

Moura recently starred opposite Elisabeth Moss in the Apple TV+ series Shining Girls.

Miguel Sandoval to Star in Apple’s Private Detective Series “Sugar”

Miguel Sandoval has landed a sweet role…

The 70-year-old Latino actir will star in Apple’s Colin Farrell-led series Sugar.

The L.A.-set contemporary take on a private detective story also stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Amy Ryan, Anna Gunn, James Cromwell, Dennis Boutsikaris, Alex Hernandez and Lindsay Pulsipher.

It was created by Mark Protosevich with Fernando Meirelles directing.

The project hails from Apple Studios.

Last year, the streamer won a heated auction for the project, beating out Netflix.

Sugar marks the second collaboration for Kinberg’s Genre Films and Apple TV+ and will stream alongside the global hit series Invasion, which recently received a second-season renewal.

Sandoval’s previous credits include Sharp Objects, Barry and Medium.

He’s also known for the role of Vic in Orphan Black, Vaas Montenegro in the Far Cry VG franchise, as well as The Scorpion in Spiderman: No Way Home.

Alex Hernandez to Star in Apple TV+’s Drama Series “Sugar”

It’s a sweet project for Alex Hernandez.

The 32-year-old Latino actor has joined the cast of Apple TV+’s Colin Farrell-led drama series Sugar.

Alex Hernandez Hernandez is joining as a series regular.

The LA-set contemporary take on a private detective story stars Farrell, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Amy Ryan. It was created by Mark Protosevich with Fernando Meirelles directing.

Protosevich and Meirelles executive-produce alongside Farrell, Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon, Scott Greenberg and Chip Vucelich and the project comes from Apple Studios.

Hernadez’s previous credits include Search Party, The Resident and UnREAL.

Jared Leto to Star Opposite Anne Hathaway in AppleTV+’s Limited Series “WeCrashed”

Jared Leto is crashing AppleTV+

The streamer has ordered WeCrashed, a limited series starring the 49-year-old part-Spanish American actor and fellow Oscar winner Anne Hathaway, with John Requa and Glenn Ficarra directing.

Last month, Deadline first reported  that Leto was in talks for one of the leads in the series based on the hit podcast WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork

He and Hathaway also will executive produce the series.

Previously in development at Apple and set to be produced by Apple StudiosWeCrashed will follow the greed-filled rise and inevitable fall of WeWork, one of the world’s most valuable startups, and the narcissists whose chaotic love made it all possible.

The limited series is created and written by showrunners Lee Eisenberg — as part of his overall deal with Apple TV+ — and Drew Crevello.

Emma Ludbrook will executive produce alongside Leto through their Paradox production company.

Leto stars opposite Denzel Washington and Rami Malek in The Little Thingswhich just bowed in theaters and on HBO Max.
