Morat Signs Worldwide Publishing Deal with Warner Chappell Music

Morat has a new global publishing deal…

The Colombian band, comprised of lead singers and main songwriters Juan Pablo Isaza and Juan Pablo Villamil, has signed a worldwide publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music.

MoratAccording to the publishing company, the deal covers future works as well as the pair’s entire back catalog.

“We’re delighted to partner with Warner Chappell Music and are proud to have them represent our catalogue,” Isaza and Villamil said in a statement. “They have an incredible global roster and we’re looking forward to getting the opportunity to collaborate with some of them in the future.”

The deal with Isaza and Villamil was led by Santiago Menéndez-Pidal, president of Warner Chappell Music South Europe; Gustavo Menéndez, president of Warner Chappell Music Latin; Javier Dean and Carmen Picado, A&R director and A&R manager for Warner Chappell Music Spain, respectively; and Daniel Mora, managing director of Warner Chappell Music Colombia.

Menéndez added, “At Warner Chappell Music we are big believers in cross-territory collaboration. By regularly working closely with Santi, Javier, Carmen and Daniel, we have been able to build a relationship with Juan Pablo Isaza and Juan Pablo Villamil. They are exceptional songwriters, and our Warner Chappell territories around the world will be looking forward to working with them going forward.”

Isaza and Villamil have not only penned songs for their Colombian folk-pop band, which also includes brothers Martín Vargas and Simón Vargas, but have also written tracks for artists such as Danna Paola, Juanes, Paulina Rubio, Reik and Sebastián Yatra.

“They’ve already had incredible success and have great experience writing for huge international artists so it’s going to be exciting watching them tap into our global network and work with writers from all over the world,” Menéndez-Pidal said in a statement. “I’d like to thank Gustavo for all his work in helping us get this deal over the line.”

With more than 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Morat, who most recently renewed their recording contract with Universal Music Spain, is currently on tour while also working on a new album, which will follow last year’s A Dónde Vamos? as well as their Latin Grammy-nominated 2018 LP Balas Perdidas.

 

Carmen Farala Named Winner of Inaugural Season of “Drag Race España”

The 30-year-old Spanish drag performer, whose real name is Daniel Mora, has been crowned the inaugural winner of Drag Race España, the offshoot of the U.S.’ Emmy-winning reality competition series RuPaul’s Drag Race.

A jury made up of presenter Supremme de Luxe, designer Ana Locking and filmmakers/actors Javier Ambrossi and his real-life partner Javier Calvo decided in the last episode, broadcast on Sunday night, that Farala would take home the crown and the 30,000 euro prize.

Farala, who never found herself in the bottom two during the competition, beat out Killer Queen and Sagittaria for the title.

For eight weeks, the finalists have taken part in all kinds of tests and Farala managed to win three maxi challenges during the season: the tribute to La Veneno, the night of the 1,000 Rosalías and the makeover of rugby players.

Cantillo will play Javi Lopez, former partner and best friend to Ben.

MacLaren will direct the pilot and executive produce the series. 

Production on the first season is underway with the series scheduled to premiere on Paramount Network this summer.

Vicente Garcia Signs Worldwide Publishing Deal with Warner Chappell Music Colombia

Vicente Garcia is going global…

The 36-year-old Dominican musician has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music Colombia, covering his past albums as well as future projects, according to Billboard.

Garcia debuted his solo album Melodrama in 2011, which includes collaborations with Ximena Sariñana and Cultura Profetica

His sophomore album, A La Mar, nabbed Garcia best new artist, best singer-songwriter album, and best tropical song for “Bachata En Kingston” at the 2017 Latin Grammyawards.

“Vicente is a fearless and dynamic artist whose creativity has no boundaries,” said Gustavo Menendez, president, Warner Chappell Music Latin Americain an official statement. “He is constantly evolving by experimenting across multiple genres all while staying true to his Dominican roots. We have admired his work for a long time and we are thrilled to now welcome him to the Warner Chappellfamily.”

García recently toured the U.S., United Kingdom, Colombia, Netherlands, Spain, Costa Rica, Peru, Argentina, and Chile, to name a few, in support of his third studio album Candela released in May.
