Leslie Grace Releases “Bachatica,” Her First Solo Single in Five Years

Leslie Grace has finally returned with new music…

Following her acting debut in Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s film adaptation of his Tony Award-winning Broadway musical In The Heights, and in the midst of filming Batgirl, the 26-year-old Dominican America singer/actress has released “Bachatica,” her first solo track in five years.

Dedicated to her loyal fans, Leslie Grace returns to her musical roots in a sensual bachata fused with urban and R&B undertones.

She crafted the song alongside emerging music artists Maye, Musiana, and Eddie Perez.

“I knew this song was a gift and we finished it together that same day,” she expressed on Instagram. “Thank you for sharing your genius with me.” Bringing the song’s romantic lyrics to life, Leslie reeled in her boyfriend Ian Eastwood to appear in the 1920s-inspired music video, which was directed by Jorge G. Camarena.

The 54-year-old Spanish composer won his first-ever Emmy during the first night of the Television Academy’s the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

Reyes picked up the award in the Outstanding Music Composition For A Limited Series, Movie or Special (Original Dramatic Score) category for his work on AMC’s The Night Manager.

In recent years, Reyes has enjoyed international success with scores for Buried, Red Lights and Grand Piano. The latter, a taut thriller starring Elijah Wood and John Cusack includes an original piano concerto written by the composer, which is integral to the plot of the film and received high praise from music critics.

Reyes also earned the 2002 Cinema Writers Circle Award (CEC) for The City With No Limits.

But Reyes isn’t the only Latino winner…

Dana Gonzales won his first Emmy in the Outstanding Cinematography For A Limited Series or Movie category. The Latino cinematographer earned the award for his work on the “Waiting for Dutch” episode of FX Network’s series Fargo

Meanwhile, Eddie Perez picked up his first-ever Emmy award in the Outstanding Stunt Coordination For A Comedy Series or Variety Program category. The Latino stunt performer and actor won the award for his work on Showtime’s Shameless.

The first night of the two-night Creative Emmy Awards show was held at the Microsoft Theatre L.A. Live.

Calle 13’s René Pérez Named King of New York City’s Puerto Rican Day Parade

There’s no raining on René Pérez Joglar’s parade…

The 36-year-old Puerto Rican singer-composer and Calle 13 frontman, best known by his stage name Residente, has been named the king of New York City’s upcoming Puerto Rican Day Parade.

Pérez, known as much for his music as for his social commentary and actions that include regular meetings with Latin American presidents, and recently, a collaboration with Julian Assange on the title track of the band’s recent album Multi-Viral, will be grand marshall of the parade, which will take place on June 8.

The front man of the record-holding Latin Grammy-winning group follows Latin music stars like Marc Anthony as king of the massive event on New York’s Fifth Avenue.

Pérez is an outspoken supporter of the Puerto Rican Independence movement.

The parade will also honor the two greats of Latin music, Cheo Feliciano and Gran Combo of Puerto Rico founder Eddie Pérez, both of whom who died in the past year.
