Breaking Ground? Twilight’s First Spanish Song

There’s a little sabor Latino on the soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1

Twilight Breaking Dawn

Along with part-Puerto Rican doo-wop singer Bruno Mars’ “It Will Rain,” the new album features a Spanish track written and performed by Argentinean actress/singer Mia Maestro, who plays the matriarch of the vegetarian Denali coven in the much-anticipated film.

The ballad  “Llovera” is the only Spanish-language song to ever be featured on any of the Twilight soundtracks.

Mia Maestro

“It’s nice to know that millions of people who are going to go see this film are going to hear my song,” Maestro told Latina.com about the song. “It’s quite exciting!”

So  how did the 33-year-old actress/singer—who starred opposite Jennifer Garner on ABC’s Alias—end up scoring the first Spanish song on the Twilight soundtracks ?

“I was working on my album while I was shooting the movie,” recalls Maestro. “Everyone was aware that I was finishing my record and [the film’s director] Bill Condon wanted to hear it. He did and he really loved it and he said he was going to see if there was any part in the film where he could find placement for it.”

Well, it appears he has… But Maestro can only hint at where in the movie it appears:

“A beautiful moment in the film—I can’t say which one, but I hope people will love it.”

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 soundtrack is available now.

Meanwhile, the film opens nationwide on November 18.
