Joe Penna to Direct Endeavor Content’s Sci-Fi Thriller “Trespasser”

Joe Penna isn’t (tres)passing on a great opportunity…

The 35-year-old Brazilian musician and filmmaker will direct Endeavor Content’s sci-fi thriller Trespasser.

Joel Penna

The film is based on a Black List screenplay by Gabe Hobson and adapted from Justin M. Ryan’s 2017 Alterna Comics-published graphic novel.

The grounded genre story is set in the Alaskan wilderness, where a father and daughter living in isolation encounter a mysterious otherworldly creature and are thrust into a journey of peril, survival and redemption.

Trespasser was originally published in 2016 as a four-issue digital series available for download through Amazon’s Comixology portal. The following year, Ryan launched a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund a trade paperback version that collected all four of the original digital issues.

Jason FuchsBrad Fuller and Alixandra Fuchs will produce the project, with Alex Ginno serving as executive producer.

Penna broke onto the scene with the survival film Arctic starring Mads Mikkelsen, a 2018 Cannes official selection. He followed that up with Stowaway, which stars Anna Kendrick and Toni Collette, for Netflix.

Trailer Released for “Reach Me,” Starring Trejo, Sylvester Stallone and Kelsey Grammer

Danny Trejo’s latest project will have a different kind of reach

The 70-year-old Mexican American actor, who often stars in action films as hypermasculine characters, villains and anti-heroes, is starring opposite Sylvester Stallone and Kelsey Grammer in the dramedy Reach Me.

Danny Trejo

Trejo portrays Vic in the film, which centers on a group of people who all have a connection to a self-help book authored by a reclusive former football coach.

Directed by John Herzfeld, the indie film also stars Lauren Cohan, Terry Crews, Nelly, Kevin Connoly, Tom Sizemore, Ryan Kwanten, Kyra Sedgwick, Danny Trejo, Tom Berenger and Danny Aiello.

“It’s a feel-good movie with an upbeat, inspirational story. It’s about a dozen broken characters who get a second chance in life by coming into contact with this book,” says Herzfeld.

The project initially launched a Kickstarter campaign, but later switched to a similar yet more flexible platform, Indiegogo, which allows international contributions and pledges beyond $10k.

Trejo’s Ensemble Dramedy “Reach Me” to Hit Theaters in October

Danny Trejo’s latest project is headed to theaters in October…

Millennium Entertainment has acquired the U.S. rights to John Herzfeld’s dramedy Reach Me, which features the 70-year-old Mexican American actor as part of the all-star ensemble cast.

Danny Trejo

The film centers on a group of strangers whose lives collide as a result of a self-published motivational book by a reclusive author in hiding (portrayed by Tom Berenger). When the book’s positive message goes viral a tabloid journalist (Kevin Connolly), his editor (Sylveter Stallone), an arsonist ex-con (Kyra Sedgwick), a gunfighter cop (Thomas Jane), an alcoholic priest (Danny Aiello) and a dimwitted gangster all plow into each other and irrevocably impact each other’s lives. Trejo portrays Vic in the film.

Herzfeld wrote the script for the film, which was long in the works and was crowd-funded for finishing funds (initially on Kickstarter, before switching to Indiegogo).

Reach Me will be released in select cities and then be released via video on demand on October 24th.

It also stars Lauren Cohan, Nelly, Omari Hardwick, David O’Hara, Ryan Kwanten, Tom Sizemore, Elizabeth Henstridge and Kelsey Grammer.

“John Herzfeld has crafted an inspirational ensemble piece featuring Sylvester Stallone in a moving return to drama,” said Millennium’s Bill Lee.

“I’ve wanted to bring Reach Me to the screen for over a decade,” said Herzfeld. “To have the opportunity to create the film with such a tremendously talented cast is a filmmaker’s dream.”
