Netflix Renews Shakira Barrera’s Female Wrestling Dramedy “Glow” for Fourth & Final Season

Shakira Barrera will be getting her last fight…

Netflix has picked up its female wrestling dramedy GLOW, starring the Nicaraguan American actress, for a fourth and final season.

Shakira Barrera

The series, which stars Alison BrieBetty Gilpin and Marc Maron, is set to end after the next season. This is in line with a number of Netflix originals that end after three or four seasons.

GLOW, which has earned 15 Emmy nominations and three wins during its run, was inspired by the short-lived but beloved 1980s show. It tells the fictional story of Ruth Wilder (Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s pro wrestling.

In addition to working with 12 Hollywood misfits, Ruth also has to compete with Debbie Eagan (Gilpin) a former soap actress who left the business to have a baby, only to be sucked back into work when her picture-perfect life is not what it seems. And at the wheel is Sam Sylvia (Maron), a washed-up, B-movie director who now must lead this group of women on the journey to wrestling stardom.

Season 3 followed the ladies of GLOW as they took the Vegas strip by storm. Now headliners at the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino, the women quickly realize that Sin City is much more grind than glitter. Ever the team cheerleader, Ruth’s passion for the show begins to take a backseat to her increasingly complicated personal life. Debbie is making headway as a producer but continues to be consumed with guilt over the distance between her and her son. As their residency wears on, the lines blur between performance and reality, and the cast finds itself struggling with identities both in and out of the ring.

Barrera has portrayed Yolanda “Junkchain” Rivas on the series since Season Two.

Creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch will return as showrunners and writers and will executive produce alongside Jenji Kohan, Tara Herrmann and Mark Burley.

The third season premiered last month, and the fourth season is expected in 2020.

Barrera’s previous credits include appearances on Grey’s Anatomy, Rosewood, East Los High, Faking It and Queen of the South.

Delgado’s podcast joins a roster that includes projects by Love creator Lesley ArfinMargaret Choand Glow’sKimmy Gatewood

Earios was set up by former UTAand WME comedy agent Priyanka Mattoo, who also ran Electric Dynamitewith Jack BlackMaria Blasucciand Amanda Lund.

Last year, the company successfully raised money through a Kickstartercampaign and secured enough to launch 12 shows this year. It has also partnered with podcast company Acastto launch the slate, which will launch three shows at the start of July and will run new shows every couple of weeks.

Lopez to Release Her 20th Fragrance, JLove, This October

Jennifer Lopez knows all about the sweet smell of success…

The 44-year-old Puerto Rican singer-actress, who has just been cast in The Boy Next Door, is set to release her 20th perfume JLove.

Jennifer Lopez

To be released in October in the US, la Lopez’s new perfume has hints of fruity and floral scents.

“When I did my first fragrance Glow (launched in 2002), I didn’t really think much beyond making it the best, most beautiful fragrance ever created. We did beautiful things with that fragrance, and I fell in love with the business,” said Lopez.

Lopez’s 20th perfume is based on love and features hints of scents like white raspberry, pink grapefruit, tangerine and pineapple combined with water lily, vanilla sorbet, white wood and skin musk.

“With number 20, it’s a landmark. I asked myself, ‘Who am I and what do I encompass?’ My message has always been love, whether it’s my music or my movies or whatever. It’s such a big part of who I am. We decided to call it JLove for that very reason, because it encompasses everything about me in one simple little word,” she said.

Jennifer Lopez: The World’s Most Powerful Celebrity

Move over Lady Gaga… There’s a new fame monster in Hollywood… And, her name is Jennifer Lopez.

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican singer/actress has been named the most powerful celebrity in the world by Forbes magazine.

Jennifer Lopez

Lopez, who unseated Lady Gaga to reach No. 1 with a bullet, is the lone Hispanic superstar in the Top 25 on the just-released Celebrity 100 list, which shines a spotlight on the world’s most powerful celebrities.

The list ranks stars based on their masses of money, as well as their eternal fame –“fame” referring to just how well a given celebrity manages to blanket everything from television and magazines to your Facebook and Twitter feeds in a 12-month period.

The Latina multi-hyphenate parlayed her role as a judge on American Idol into hit singles like “Dance Again,” increased album sales, an upcoming world tour, three new movies and a growing portfolio of endorsements.

But that’s not all…

In September, Lopez launched a clothing and lifestyle collection for Kohl’s. In May she added an 18th scent to her successful fragrance line, Glow. And Lopez continues to work with her ex, Marc Anthony, on the Latin talent competition show, Q’Viva: The Chosen.

Here’s a look at the other Latino celebrities who made the list:

No. 44: Cristiano Ronaldo
No. 47: Rafael Nadal
No. 50: Lionel Messi
No. 59: Cameron Diaz
No. 61: Gisele Bunchen
No. 63: Alex Rodriguez
No. 76: Sofia Vergara
No. 81: Eva Longoria
No. 100: Adriana Lima
