Danny Trejo to Star in the Action Film “Pug”

Danny Trejo is runnin’ with the big dogs…

The 78-year-old Mexican American actor and Machete film series star has joined the cast of the action film Pug.

Danny TrejoThe film, which hails from writer-director Jason Velo, has wrapped production.

Trejo will co-star alongside Mark RolstonDanielle Vega, Wolfgang Bodison and Velo in the film.

Pug centers on a gifted young ex-con who tries to return to the boxing ring after his release from prison, thereby catching the eye of a local crime boss who intends to sign him. When he refuses the order to take a dive during a fight, he puts his newfound love interest, family and entire future in the mob’s crosshairs.

Keli Price is producing for Price Productions, alongside Velo for Below The Line Entertainment, Aaron Bennett and Edwin To, with Wave Motion Pictures’ Scott Huneryager serving as exec producer.

Trejo’s previous credits include Desperado, Heat and the From Dusk Till Dawn film series.

Camil to Star in Indie Boxing Film “Glass Jaw”

Jaime Camil is lacing up for his next role…

The 43-year-old Mexican actor/singer has joined the cast of the indie boxing film Glass Jaw, directed by Jeff Celentano (Breaking Point).

Glass Jaw is the redemption story of Travis Austin (Lee Kholafai), a one-time boxing champion, who goes to prison and loses everything. After his release, he experiences the trials and tribulations of redeeming his reputation, his belt and Dana Sasso (Korrina Rico), his one true love.

In addition to Camil, Kholafai and Rico, the film also stars Reynaldo Gallegos, Jon Gries (Taken), Ashlee Macropoulos (This Just In), Mark Rolston (The Departed), Vernon Wells (Commando) and Steven Williams (21 Jump Street).

Shooting is currently underway in Los Angeles, with Glass Jaw set for release later this year.

Camil, a Mexican telenovela star who has risen to acclaim with his role on the CW’s Jane the Virgin, previously appeared in the film Pulling Strings and as a voice character in The Secret Life of Pets.

Lifetime has released the first official trailer for its Whitney Houston biopic Whitney, starring the 32-year-old part-Brazilian American actress as the late songstress.

Houston, one of the world’s best selling performers, sold more than 200 million albums sold worldwide and had a slew of diamond, multi-platinum certifications.

DaCosta, a runner-up on the CW’s America’s Top Model landed the role of Houston in June, with Belizean actor Arlen Escarpeta playing Houston’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown.

Meanwhile, Mark Rolston portrays Houston’s music biz mentor, Clive Davis, in a scene-stealing role.

Whitney marks the directorial debut of Angela Bassett.
