Ashanti to Star in Upcoming Drama about Homeless Community “No Address”

The 42-year-old half-Afro-Dominican singer/actress will star opposite William Baldwin, Xander Berkley and Beverly D’Angelo in the upcoming drama No Address about a community of homeless people fighting eviction from their encampment.

AshantiThey have been announced as key cast by Robert Craig Films as shooting gets underway in Sacramento.

Further cast members include Ty Pennington, Lucas Jade Zumann, Kristanna Loken, Patricia Velasquez and Isabella Ferreira.

British LA-based Julia Verdin directs from a screenplay co-written with James J Papa.

Edy Ganem to Star in the Indie Action Thriller “Free Dead or Alive”

Edy Ganem’s schedule is Free-ing up…

The 37-year-old Mexican-Lebanese actress will star opposite Seth Michaels and 50-year-old Venezuelan actress and model Patricia Velasquez in Free Dead or Alive, an indie action thriller written, produced and directed by Erik Bernard.

The film follows Eva (Ganem), a beautiful strong-willed young woman who enters a journey to escape her mother’s (Velasquez) arranged marriage to the region’s most dangerous cartel. Her defiance sets off a chain of events that threatens her life. Surviving will require the skills of Dragon (Michaels), a coyote that can protect her during her quest throughout the dangerous world of cross-border cartels who are the law of the lands.

Robert LaSardo, Robert Avellanet, Jonathan Joss, and Al Coronel will co-star. Courtney LeMarco will serve as executive producer.

Ganem’s previous credits include Devious Maids, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, CSI: Crime Scene InvestigationThe Cleveland Show and Rob. 

Velasquez’s previous credits include The Mummy, Saint Bernard and The Curse of La Llorona.

The SXSW Film Festival has added the horror film The Curse of La Llorona, starring the 48-year-old Venezuelan actress and model, to its robust lineup.

The film, from New Line, is directed by Michael Chavesand written by Mikki Daughtryand Tobias Iaconis.

In addition to Velasquez, the film stars Linda Cardellini and Raymond Cruz and is based on the real-life Mexican folklore of the ghost of a weeping woman who essentially terrorizes and attempts to take children and scares the hell out of anyone who comes in her way.

The 26th edition of the South by Southwest Conference and Festivalruns March 8-17 in Austin.

The 46-year-old Venezuelan actress and fashion model has signed on to the ensemble cast of New Line Cinema’s horror film The Children, joining Sean Patrick Thomas and Linda Cardellini.

Michael Chaves is directing the pic, which follows a social worker who, while investigating the mysterious disappearance of two children, discovers her own family might be in jeopardy.

The script was written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis.

Velasquez played Ank Su Namun in Universal Pictures’ The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. She also appeared on the Fox comedy Arrested Development.

Mendoza to Compete Against Velásquez on Celebrity Apprentice

Former Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza and actress/model Patricia Velásquez will be heading to Donald Trump’s boardroom this February…

The 25-year-old Venezuelan beauty queen will compete against fellow Venezolana Velásquez, the 40-year-old The Mummy actress, in the next edition of NBC‘s Celebrity Apprentice.

Mendoza won the title of Miss Universe in 2008. Meanwhile, Velásquez has appeared in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns films, as well as fashion advertisements for Chanel and Victoria’s Secret.

The show’s host Donald Trump announced the new batch of contestants on Wednesday’s Today show.

Mendoza and Velásquez will face off against IndyCar legend Michael Andretti, reality star Victoria GottiReal Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Guidice, comedian Lisa Lampanelli, rock star Dee Snider and American Chopper’s Paul Teutul Sr., radio host Adam Carolla, comedian Arsenio Hall, singer-actress Aubrey O’Day and magician Penn Jillette.

Rounding out the rivals are model Cheryl Tiegs, singer Deborah Gibson, Star Trek’s George Takei, singer Tia Carrere and Incredible Hulk’s Lou Ferrigno and singer Clay Aiken.

“This season of Celebrity Apprentice will be the most exciting yet. The show will be great, with a record number of contestants and 15 episodes,” said Trump. “We are thrilled to bring 18 new and talented celebrities who will help me make Celebrity Apprentice one of the hottest shows on television this spring. This will be season 12 — Amazing!”
