Paul Rodriguez Appearing in Netflix’s “Dirty Daddy: A Tribute to Bob Saget” Special

The 67-year-old Mexican-American actor and stand-up comedian will appear in Netflix’s Dirty Daddy: A Tribute to Bob Saget, a special that celebrates his life and legacy.

“Bob wasn’t something that was taken away from us — he was something that was given to us,” says the trailer for the special.

The special will launch on Friday, June 10, on the streamer.

Saget died January 9 in an Orlando hotel room not long after a stand-up performance. His death at 65 rocked Hollywood and led to an outpouring of tributes, along with the farewell show at the Comedy Store in West Hollywood where Dirty Daddy was filmed.

In addition to Rodriguez, those taking part are Saget’s former Full House co-stars John Stamos and Dave Coulier, along with Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Jim Carrey, Michael Keaton, Tim Allen, Jeff Ross, Darren Criss, Jon Lovitz, John Mayer, Mike Binder, Jackson Browne, Seth Green, Mike Young and Candace Cameron Bure.

His widow Kelly Rizzo-Saget and their daughters Lara and Aubrey Saget also are set.

In the trailer, Rizzo-Saget steps to the stage and says, “The most important thing to him was belonging to this club, to this group, to being a comedian.” Carrey adds: “You created a cathedral of f*cking love, Bob Saget.”

As also noted in the trailer, everyone deserves a friend like Bob.

NBC Developing Comedy Starring Marin, Paul Rodriguez & Paul Rodriguez Jr.

Cheech Marin may be returning to television in the near future…

NBC is developing a single-camera comedy starring and executive produced by the 70-year-old comedian, actor, voice actor and writer; stand-up comedian and actor Paul Rodriguez; and his son, professional skateboarder/actor Paul Rodriguez Jr.

From Universal Television, the untitled project is written/executive produced by Steve & Jim Armogida, creators/executive producers of Nickelodeon’s School of Rock television series.

It’s described as an irreverent single-camera comedy about being Latino in today’s America as seen through the different perspectives of three generations of Latino males – a grandfather, father, and son – Cheech (Marin), Paul (Rodriguez), and Paulie (Rodriguez Jr.)

This has been a passion project for Paul Rodriguez, who has long ties with Marin, going back to the 1980s when Rodriguez starred opposite Marin in Marin’s 1987 movie Born In East LA. They again played family members, cousins.

The trio last year shot a sizzle reel for the comedy series project, which came close to landing at ABC.

Roday to Direct the Dark Comedy “Gravy”

James Roday is psyched about his next project…

The 37-year-old Mexican-American actor, who currently stars on USA’s Psych, will direct the dark comedy film Gravy.

Co-written by Roday and Todd Harthan, the film follows a group that descends on a Mexican cantina on Halloween with a taste for more than what is on the menu.

This isn’t Roday’s first time behind the camera. As well as starring on Psych, Roday has written and directed a number of episodes of for the long-running USA series.

Gravy, which has just started shooting in LA this week, stars Sarah Silverman, Michael Weston, Jimmi Simpson, Sutton Foster, Gabourey Sidibe, Paul Rodriguez, Gabriel Luna and Ethan Sandler.
