Garcia to Star as the Little Mermaid on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time”

It’s official… JoAnna Garcia is heading under the sea for her latest role.

Following rumors of her Arieltastic role nearly two years ago, ABC has confirmed that the 34-year-old half-Cuban actress has been cast as the Little Mermaid for the upcoming third season of Once Upon a Time.

For now, Garcia is expected to appear in two episodes of the hit fairytale drama, according to TV Guide Magazine.

It was revealed at Comic-Con that the Little Mermaid would be making an appearance in the new season, which kicks off on September 29, with a teaser revealing Ariel/Little Mermaid.

As is ordinary practice on the ABC fairy tale drama, expect the Little Mermaid to have a slight twist from the 1989 animated feature classic.

Garcia’s casting comes weeks after Once Upon a Time cast Rose McIver in the role of Tinker Bell, with executive producer Adam Horowitz hinting that she will have a “surprising connection” to a main character.

Garcia recently starred in NBC‘s short-lived comedy Animal Practice and was a regular on The WB‘s Reba. She has also recently recurred on Royal Pains and starred in ABC’s Better with You.

de la Reguera to Star in ABC’s “Big Thunder” Drama Pilot

Ana de la Reguera has landed a rollercoaster role… of sorts!

The 35-year-old Mexican actress has been cast in ABC’s drama pilot Big Thunder, which is based on the popular rollercoaster at Disneyland.

Ana de la Reguera

Directed by Rob Bowman and written by Jason Fuchs, the project centers on a brilliant, late 19th century New York doctor. He and his family are given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to relocate to a frontier mining town run by a powerful, but mysterious tycoon. But the family quickly realizes that not everything in Big Thunder is as it appears.

de la Reguera will portray Selena Morales, a strong, independent, no nonsense woman who lives by her own moral code that’s been shaped by the very hard life she’s lived.

de la Reguera, whose film credits include Nacho Libre and Cowboys & Aliens, most recently appeared on television in Royal  Pains and Eastbound & Down.

She’ll next appear in Lionsgate’s Ghosts, which was previously called Jessabelle.

Valderrama to Play Cougar Bait on “Raising Hope”

Wilmer Valderrama will be wooing a Working Girl in the near future…

The 32-year-old Venezuelan/Colombian American actor will be returning to Fox to guest star on Raising Hope, according to TVGuide.com.

Wilmer Valderrama

Valderrama, who rose to acclaim on Fox’s That ’70s Show, will be part of a multi-episode arc that sees his character romance Sabrina’s mother Tamara, played by the recently cast Melanie Griffith.

Valderrama has been known to woo younger women in real life. But his Raising Hope character only has eyes for the 54-year-old Griffith. Further details on his role aren’t available, except that he’ll appear in at least three episodes.

In Season 2, Stephen Root played Sabrina’s dad. Over the years, the only thing known about Sabrina’s parents is that they’re wealthy — a stark contrast to her boyfriend Jimmy’s slightly more financially strapped family.

Valderrama, who recently starred in NBC’s short-lived Awake, has also appeared on Are You There, Chelsea?, Suburgatory, Men at Work and Royal Pains.

Raising Hope returns Tuesday, October 2 at 8/7c on Fox.

Khotan to Appear on USA’s “Royal Pains”

Telenovela star Khotan Fernández is setting his sights on a Hollywood crossover…

The 39-year-old Mexican telenovela star, simply known as Khotan, has signed on to appear in a recurring role on USA Network’s Royal Pains.

Khotan Fernandez

It’s the first English-speaking appearance for Khotan, who most recently starred in Telemundo’s popular telenovela Perro Amor.

Khotan will play Rafa, a polo-playing underwear model and love interest to Reshma Shetty’s character Divya.

The actor, who will appear in five episodes of Royal Pains, is currently starring in the series Sexo Debil.

In addition to Khotan, his Perro Amor co-star Angelica Celaya will guest star on USA’s Burn Notice.

Valderrama’s Next Role: Sexy New Age Guru

Goodbye city life! It looks like Wilmer Valderrama is headed to the ‘burbs…

The 31-year-old part-Colombian/part-Venezuelan actor has signed on to appear on ABC’s new comedy series, Suburgatory. He’ll guest-star as Yoni, a sexy New Age guru who helps provide a little spiritual—and sexual—healing to the town’s soccer moms.

Wilmer Valderrama

In the episode set to air early next year, the former That ‘70s Show star is described as a cross between the Dalai Lama and Richard Gere’s character in American Gigolo.

“He is highly spiritual, with a great head of hair. Self-trained in the art of Reiki, Yoni stands alone as Chatswin’s new age guru, making him extremely popular with moms,” series creator Emily Kapnek tells TVGuide.com. “He’s also great in bed.”

Valderrama co-stars in NBC‘s upcoming midseason drama Awake, about a police detective who is involved in a traumatic car accident and awakens in two fractured realities. He recently guest-starred in the mid-season finale of Royal Pains as a hallucinating art enthusiast who may or may not be dead when the series resumes next year.

Valderrama also voices the title character of Disney’s animated series Handy Manny.
