Cabral’s New Fox Series “Enlisted” Premieres This Week

Angelique Cabral is reporting for duty this coming week…

Fox will launch the 34-year-old part-Latina actress’ new midseason series Enlisted on January 10.

Angelique Cabral

The heartwarming Army-set sitcom centers on three brothers in a unit of misfits on an Army base in Florida. Along with Cabral, the series stars Geoff Stults (The Finder), Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars), Keith David (Platoon) and Parker Young (Suburgatory).

Cabral portrays Sgt. Jill Perez, the leader of another unit on the base — and the only main female character in a series that’s “all dudes,” as she tells the Monterey Herald.

“It’s like a dream role, because this woman is not the pretty girlfriend, or the pregnant wife,” said Cabral. “She’s a sergeant in the Army. She’s her own boss, she’s tough as nails, she’s got a chip on her shoulder, she’s hardcore. It’s a really fun character for me to play.”

But Sgt. Perez is more than that, according to her Enlisted costars.

”Angelique’s character, Jill, has developed, in a weird way, into the fourth Hill Brother,” Stults tells TV Guide magazine, adding, “Man, she’s not going to like that!”

Cabral agrees with her co-star’s assessment.

“Jill kind of adopts the boys. Much like in my real life, she has FOMO – Fear Of Missing Out – so she’s constantly around their platoon, even though she has her own,” teases Cabral, who wed her longtime love last summer.

Cabral’s previous credits include Don’t Trust The B— in Apartment 23, The Glades, Happy Endings and Free Agents.

Enlisted premieres on Friday, January 10 at 9:30 pm ET.

Alvarez Teases His “The Evil Dead” Remake

Fede Alvarez is putting his spin on an Evil classic…

Fede Alvarez

The 34-year-old Uruguayan filmmaker is directing a remake of Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead horror film, the first of the franchise’s three films. It’s Alvarez’s first full-length feature film. He’d previously directed the short films Panic Attack!, El cojonudo, El último Alevare and Los pocillos.

Sony‘s TriStar Pictures has released a teaser trailer in advance of the release of the updated film’s official trailer on Wednesday.

The original films revolve around the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, a fictional Sumerian text which wreaks havoc on a group of cabin inhabitants in a wooded area in Tennessee. The protagonist, Ashley J. “Ash” Williams, played by Bruce Campbell, is the only character left alive by the end of the series.

Alvarez’s re-do, starring Suburgatory’s Jane Levy and Shiloh Fernandez centers on Mia, a young woman struggling with sobriety who heads to a remote cabin with her brother and a group of friends, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads to danger and horror.

Raimi and Campbell are both involved in the reboot, serving as producers on the film.

Evil Dead will be released on April 12, 2013.

Valderrama’s episode is scheduled to air later in the season.

The That ’70s Show alum first appeared on the ABC comedy earlier this year when Yoni began dating Dallas after she split from her husband, Steven.

Valderrama is also set to guest-star on Raising Hope this fall as a love interest for Sabrina’s mom, played by Melanie Griffith.

He most recently co-starred on NBC’s Awake.

Season 2 of Suburgatory premieres Wednesday, October 17 at 9:30 pm ET on ABC.

Valderrama Signs Talent Deal with 20th Century Fox Television

Wilmer Valderrama could soon return to the small screen full-time…

The 32-year-old Venezuelan/Colombian American actor has signed a one-year development and talent holding deal with 20th Century Fox Television.

Wilmer Valderrama

As part of the deal, the studio will develop a television project for the former That ‘70s Show actor to star in and produce.

Valderrama will reportedly start meeting with writers next week to consider potential comedy and drama projects. He could also bring his own show ideas or elect to join a project already in development at the studio.

Should the project Valderrama gets attached to not get a pick up, the studio has the option to cast him in another pilot for next season.

Valderrama, who recently starred on the studio’s NBC drama series Awake, has had a similar development/holding deal in the past.

He’s already set to guest star on the 20th/Fox comedy series Raising Hope where he’ll play Melanie Griffith’s boyfriend.

“Wilmer is that great cousin who is funny and charming and talented, and you want him to come to every gathering,” said 20th Television’s head of casting Sharon Klein. “He is a breath of fresh air, all light and fun and smart.”

Along with his acting work on recent shows like Suburgatory and Are You There, Chelsea?, the actor is creator/executive producer of MTV Tr3s’ Ricardo Laguna Project and the webseries King Of The Floor for the YouTube channel NuevOn.

He’ll next be seen in Spike Lee’s The Girl Is In Trouble.

Valderrama to Play Cougar Bait on “Raising Hope”

Wilmer Valderrama will be wooing a Working Girl in the near future…

The 32-year-old Venezuelan/Colombian American actor will be returning to Fox to guest star on Raising Hope, according to TVGuide.com.

Wilmer Valderrama

Valderrama, who rose to acclaim on Fox’s That ’70s Show, will be part of a multi-episode arc that sees his character romance Sabrina’s mother Tamara, played by the recently cast Melanie Griffith.

Valderrama has been known to woo younger women in real life. But his Raising Hope character only has eyes for the 54-year-old Griffith. Further details on his role aren’t available, except that he’ll appear in at least three episodes.

In Season 2, Stephen Root played Sabrina’s dad. Over the years, the only thing known about Sabrina’s parents is that they’re wealthy — a stark contrast to her boyfriend Jimmy’s slightly more financially strapped family.

Valderrama, who recently starred in NBC’s short-lived Awake, has also appeared on Are You There, Chelsea?, Suburgatory, Men at Work and Royal Pains.

Raising Hope returns Tuesday, October 2 at 8/7c on Fox.

Are You There, Wilmer?

Holy Fez! Wilmer Valderrama is heading back to the future by reuniting with his former That ‘70s Show co-star.

The 31-year-old part-Colombian/part-Venezuelan actor will guest star on an episode of NBC’s midseason comedy Are You There, Chelsea?, which stars Laura Prepon.

Wilmer Valderrama

Valderrama and Prepon co-starred on the hit comedy series, That ‘70s Show, which aired for eight consecutive seasons on Fox from 1998 to 2006.

Valderrama—who will also guest star on ABC’s Suburgatory early next year—will appear as Chelsea’s boyfriend Tommy, a minor league baseball player.

Based on comedian & E! late-night talk show host Chelsea Handler’s best-selling book, the show will focus on Chelsea (Prepon)—an opinionated, sexually aggressive young woman.

Handler will executive-produce the series and star as Prepon’s older sister.

Valderrama’s Next Role: Sexy New Age Guru

Goodbye city life! It looks like Wilmer Valderrama is headed to the ‘burbs…

The 31-year-old part-Colombian/part-Venezuelan actor has signed on to appear on ABC’s new comedy series, Suburgatory. He’ll guest-star as Yoni, a sexy New Age guru who helps provide a little spiritual—and sexual—healing to the town’s soccer moms.

Wilmer Valderrama

In the episode set to air early next year, the former That ‘70s Show star is described as a cross between the Dalai Lama and Richard Gere’s character in American Gigolo.

“He is highly spiritual, with a great head of hair. Self-trained in the art of Reiki, Yoni stands alone as Chatswin’s new age guru, making him extremely popular with moms,” series creator Emily Kapnek tells TVGuide.com. “He’s also great in bed.”

Valderrama co-stars in NBC‘s upcoming midseason drama Awake, about a police detective who is involved in a traumatic car accident and awakens in two fractured realities. He recently guest-starred in the mid-season finale of Royal Pains as a hallucinating art enthusiast who may or may not be dead when the series resumes next year.

Valderrama also voices the title character of Disney’s animated series Handy Manny.
