Martin Sheen’s Holiday Faith Drama “The One” to be Distributed in U.S. by Hawk Hill Pictures

Martin Sheen is bringing the drama this holiday season.

The 86-year-old half-Spanish actor’s holiday faith drama The One, co-starring actress-singer Jana Kramer, has been picked up for U.S. distribution by Hawk Hill Pictures, which will release the movie in theaters nationwide on November 5.

Martin SheenThe release date coincides with National Homeless Youth Awareness Month, bringing attention to the film’s story of an 18-year-old navigating homelessness after aging out of the Chicago foster system.

Filmed in Oklahoma with incentives from The Film in Oklahoma Act, the film is directed by Lisa Arnold and produced by Erin Elizabeth Cook (who also co-stars), and Adam Ropp.

Also starring are Olivia Sanabia, Nick Zano and Indigenous musician and actor Noah Redclay. The movie also marks the feature-film debut of Ashlyn Tomlin, daughter of singer Chris Tomlin.

The synopsis reads: “When 18-year-old Hawk ages out of the Chicago foster system, he sets out to see the lighting of the country’s largest Christmas tree, the One. Carrying only his guitar, he faces potential homelessness, undiagnosed PTSD, and a harsh winter alone until he crosses paths with Jefferson, a mysterious traveler, and Alexis, a runaway teenager grieving the loss of her twin sister. Together, they embark on an unexpected journey of faith, hope and healing.”

We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring this powerful film exclusively to theaters and give audiences the opportunity to experience it on the big screen.”

In conjunction with the movie’s release, the filmmakers have partnered with For Others, the nonprofit founded by Tomlin and his wife, that works to raise awareness of the child welfare crisis in America.

HanWay Films Boards Melissa Barrera’s Erotic Thriller “The One”

Melissa Barrera’s latest project has more support…

HanWay Films has boarded The One, an erotic thriller starring the 32-year-old Mexican actress and Nicholas Hoult and will launch sales at the Cannes Film Festival.

Melissa BarreraThe project comes from writer-director team Kevin Armento and Jaki Bradley and is billed as “a nightmarish horror about the romantic and psychological warfare waged by our beloved popular entertainment — and also begs the question… are we, the viewers, complicit?”

Barrera, who’s coming off box office horror hit Scream VI, leads the cast opposite Hoult.

Barrera plays Taylor, whose last-ditch effort to find love by becoming a contestant on a reality dating show begins to feel terrifyingly real as she becomes a finalist. Amidst an opulent beachfront setting, fairy-tale dates and champagne, “pursuit turns into obsession and rivalry turns into treachery as reality itself blurs.”

HanWay Films is handling worldwide sales, with WME Independent and UTA co-repping the film for North America. Hoult also produces alongside Whitaker Lader via their production company Dead Duck Films.

Riley Keough will also produce with Gina Gammell via their production company Felix Culpa.

Barrera can be seen next in Your Monster and Anthony McCarten’s The Collaboration, based on the play of the same name.

Her other credits include appearing in Carmen opposite Paul Mescal, Netflix’s Keep Breathing, All the World is Sleeping, Vida and Warner Bros. In the Heights.

Lana Condor is also starring.

Frankie J is back, and he’s re-voicing history…

The 44-year-old Mexican singer has released his latest album Canciones Que Recuerdo.

In the well-crafted production, Frankie J revamps 15 timeless hits by José José, Juan Gabriel, Vicente Fernandez and Selena, to name a few, showcasing his powerhouse vocals as he taps into the bolero and mariachi genres.

“I’ve always loved hearing these kinds of songs, from Juan Gabriel, Jose Jose, Vicente Fernandez, Javier Solis, Pedro Infante,” says Frankie J. “I’m paying a tribute to a lot of artists that I grew up listening to because of my parents and my grandparents. These were the records that they were always listening to.”

Changing the game one song at a time, Frankie J kicked off his career in the late 90’s/early 2000’s as part of the wave of new Latinx artists producing pop-R&B songs in both Spanish and English. 

He gained international success with hits like “Obsession,” “Suga Suga,” and “How To Deal,” which form part of The One, his third studio album that debuted and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart dated April 9, 2005, and spent 36 weeks on the chart.

Now, Frankie J returns with Canciones Que Recuerdo, marking his comeback production following his 2013 Grammy-nominated Faith, Hope y Amor and Sangria, a duet album with Baby Bash released in 2017.
