Sarah Shahihas been paired up with a Rock-in’ co-star…
The 40-year-old part-Spanish actress has joined the cast of New Line and DC Films’ highly anticipated Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson in the title role. Aldis Hodge is also on board to play Hawkman with Noah Centineo set to play Atom Smasher.
Jaume Collet-Serra, who also directed Johnson alongside Emily Blunt in Disney’s Jungle Cruise, will helm. Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions are producing with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo.
The character is one of DC’s most popular anti-heroes and plot details are being kept tightly under wraps. It is the second New Line/DC film following 2019’s critical and commercial smash hit Shazam!. The two characters, Shazam and Black Adam, are arch rivals in the DC Universe.
In the film, Shahi will play a university professor and freedom fighter leading the resistance in Kahndaq.
Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the latest draft. Adam Sztykiel wrote the previous draft.
Shahi is currently shooting the Netflix series Sex/Life and received critical acclaim for her performance in the Showtime series City On A Hill. Her TV credits include The Rookie, Reverie, Person of Interest, The L Wordand Fairly Legal.
It looks like Alyssa Diaz’s art will imitate life in the near future.
ABC’s police drama The Rookie, starring the 34-year-old part Colombian and Mexican actress, will address the issue of police brutality during its upcoming third season.
Show creator Alexi Hawley has brought in a number of experts to discuss the issues around policing in America in 2020, according to ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke.
“Alexi Hawley is a really thoughtful ally and partner and has been in the writers’ room for some time, already planning to address the current conversation going on around police work,” she tells Deadline.com. “I’m impressed with his thoughtfulness and leadership about hearing and adapting the current conversations to the storylines. It’s a diverse writers room and I’m hearing that the conversations going on in that room are inspired and give me hope that that show will address and not ignore the conversations around policing.”
In addition to Diaz, who portrays Angela Lopez, The Rookiealso stars Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, the oldest rookie in the LAPD, Mekia Cox, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin, Melissa O’Neil and Eric Winter.
The series is produced by Entertainment One (eOne) and ABC Studios.
Diaz’s other television credits include Narcos: Mexico, Lethal Weapon, NCIS: Los Angeles and Ray Donovan.

At Netflix, Shahi recently starred in the Dolly Partonanthology seriesHeartstrings.She’ll next be seen in the indie film Language Arts, set to premiere at the Manchester International Film Festival.
ABC is set to present a week of reunions within its primetime lineup starting October 7, with the 49-year-old Puerto Rican actor part of the roster.
“Cast from the Past” Week will feature reunited cast members and creative teams from iconic TV series and films on the network’s current shows.
On Sunday, October 13, Huertas and Seamus Dever will reunite with their former Castle co-star Nathan Fillion on The Rookie.
Additionally, actors and behind-the-scenes talent from the likes of Crazy Rich Asians, Girlfriends, Blues Brothers 2000, Cheers, Charmed, Wet Hot American Summer, House and The Drew Carey Show will be involved.

Meanwhile, Becky is overwhelmed by the costs of raising a baby, so her family steps in to help. (8 PM)
Bless This Mess – Michael Ian Black is reunited with Wet Hot American Summer’s Lake Bell when he guest stars. “Omaha” – The ladies head to Omaha for their annual gyno exams, but the trip quickly goes off the rails: Jealous of Beau’s new dating profile on FarmersOnly, Kay is determined to find a guy to hook up with, with Rio as her wing woman.
