Mariah Carey Earns Milestone 100th Career Week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “All I Want for Christmas Is You”

Mariah Carey has 100 reasons to smile…

The 56-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning singer’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” adds a record-extending 21st week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Mariah Carey

Carey claims her unprecedented and milestone 100th career week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, having accumulated her haul over 19 leaders, dating to her first, “Vision of Love,” in 1990.

Rihanna ranks second with 60 weeks at No. 1, followed by The Beatles (59) and Drake (56).

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” secures another notable record as it logs its 78th week on the Hot 100, surpassing Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” as the longest-charted title ever by a woman artist.

Two weeks earlier, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” returned to No. 1 on the Hot 100 to lead in a record-extending seventh holiday season.

It arrived on Carey’s album Merry Christmas in November 1994 and, as streaming grew and holiday music became more prominent on streaming services’ playlists, it first hit the top 10 in December 2017 and the top five in the 2018 holiday season.

It led at last, prior to its three weeks this season, over the holidays in 2019 (for three weeks), 2020 (two), 2021 (three), 2022 (four), 2023 (two) and 2024 (four). (Older holiday songs are eligible to appear on the chart each season.)

The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations.

“All I Want for Christmas Is You,” on Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings, drew 43.6 million streams (up 10%) and 28 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 24%) and sold 3,000 downloads (up 1%) in the U.S. December 12-18, according to Luminate.

The single holds for a record-extending 25th week atop the Streaming Songs chart; dashes 23-15 on Radio Songs, where it has hit a No. 7 best; and stays at No. 5 on Digital Song Sales, following six weeks on top.

Here’s a rundown of all of Carey’s Hot 100 No. 1s and their weeks spent at the summit:

Mariah Carey Rises to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay Chart with “In Your Feelings”

Mariah Carey is all in her feelings after earning another chart-topper…

The 56-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning singer’s 2025 single “In Your Feelings” rises from the runner-up spot to crown Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart dated December 27.

Mariah Carey

The track, released and promoted through MARIAH/gamma., ascends as the most-played on U.S. panel-contributing adult R&B radio stations for December 12-18, according to Luminate.

It improved 19% in plays compared to the previous week and wins the Greatest Gainer honor for the list’s largest increase.

With “In Your Feelings,” Carey celebrates a fourth Adult R&B Airplay No. 1. She first claimed the summit via “We Belong Together,” which stitched an eight-week rule in 2005, and followed with six-week champ “Fly Like a Bird” the following year.

After that pair, she closed a 19-year gap between leaders when “Type Dangerous” scored three weeks in charge this August. (She first topped many Billboard tallies when her debut, “Vision of Love,” led the Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary charts dated August 4, 1990.)

“We Belong Together” and “Fly Like a Bird” are from Carey’s 2005 album, The Emancipation of Mimi, while “Type Dangerous” and “In Your Feelings” appear on her latest project, Here for It All.

The set was released in September and debuted at No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart.

Plus, as Carey had two other Adult R&B Airplay hits — “Shake It Off” (No. 6) and “Don’t Forget About Us” (No. 12) — in between the “We Belong Together” and “Fly Like a Bird” coronations, the “Type Dangerous”/“In Your Feelings” combo marks her first linking of consecutive leaders on the list.

Elsewhere, “In Your Feelings” pushes 17-12 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, which ranks songs from combined audience totals from adult R&B and mainstream R&B/hip-hop radio stations. There, it improved to 5.5 million in audience, up 21% from the prior week’s total, and captures the chart’s Greatest Gainer prize.

Mariah Carey’s “Type Dangerous” Rises to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay Chart

Mariah Carey is back at the top of the charts…

The 56-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning singer/songwriter returns to the summit of Billboard’Adult R&B Airplay chart — or any radio-based ranking with a new non-holiday song — for the first time in nearly two decades as “Type Dangerous” glides a spot to No. 1 on the August 16-dated chart.

Mariah CareyCarey earns her third ruler on the tally and first since “Fly Like a Bird” reigned for six frames in July-September 2006. She first led with “We Belong Together” for eight weeks in 2005.

Carey’s 18-year and 11-month gap between Adult R&B Airplay toppers marks the longest stretch for a woman in the chart’s nearly 32-year history, surpassing Janet Jackson’s 17 years and two months between “I Get Lonely” (1998) and “No Sleeep” (2015).

Carey waited the third longest to revisit No. 1 on the chart. Kenny Lattimore holds the all-time mark (25 years, four months and two weeks between “For You” in 1997 and “Take a Dose” in 2023), followed by The Isley Brothers (21 years and one week from “Contagious” in 2001 to “Make Me Say It Again Girl” in 2022).

In between “Fly Like a Bird” and “Type Dangerous,” Carey reached Adult R&B Airplay 13 times, led by the No. 3-peaking “With You” in 2019.

While Carey last topped a Billboard airplay chart with a new non-seasonal single via “Fly Like a Bird,” in between she led Adult Contemporary for four weeks in 2010-11 with “Oh Santa!” Her 1994 chestnut “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has crowned the Holiday Airplay chart for a record 59 weeks through this past holiday season.

Carey first led a Billboard radio chart with her debut smash “Vision of Love,” which ruled Adult Contemporary for three weeks in August 1990.

Meanwhile, the nine-week trip to No. 1 on Adult R&B Airplay for “Type Dangerous” is the chart’s quickest of 2025.

The single has also hit No. 7 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.

Upon its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 in June, it became Carey’s milestone 50th career hit on the chart. She first reached the Hot 100 with “Vision of Love,” which became the first of her 19 No. 1s, the most among soloists.

“Type Dangerous” is the lead single from Here for It All, Carey’s 16th studio album, due September 26. Second single “Sugar Sweet,” featuring Shenseea and Kehlani, is now being promoted to radio.

Mariah Carey Announces “The Celebration of Mimi” Exclusive Engagement at Las Vegas’ Dolby Live in Park MGM

Mariah Carey is (Las Vegas) stripping things down…

The 54-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning superstar will be returning to Sin City for a third time to debut of The Celebration of Mimi, April 12 through April 27 at Dolby Live in Park MGM.

Mariah CareyThe “exclusive engagement” (April 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 24, 26 and 27) toasts the 19th anniversary of The Emancipation of Mimi, which was released on April 12, 2005.

A statement shared with Billboard states that “the Las Vegas shows will feature fan favorites from that album as well as other hits from her unparalleled illustrious career.”

The Emancipation of Mimi, with hits such as “We Belong Together” and “Shake It Off,” was one of the top-selling albums of its year and is known within her catalog as the “comeback album.”

Making another comeback — this time on the Las Vegas Strip — The Celebration of Mimi engagement, backed by Live Nation and MGM Resorts, follows Carey’s first two residencies at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, #1 to Infinity (2015-2017) and The Butterfly Returns (2018-2020). Infinity was a chronological performance of her 18 No. 1 hits, starting with 1990’s “Vision of Love” and ending with 2008’s “Touch My Body.” While that show focused on Carey the entertainer, “Butterfly” capitalized on Carey the singer with a powerful 23-song set list of big hits, surprises and her own personal favorites. Since 2020, Carey has mostly performed and toured with her holiday music.

Carey got her break in 1990 with the smash hit “Vision of Love” and since sold more than 200 million albums with 19 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles. Just days ago the five-octave-range singer accepted the Global Impact Award during the Recording Academy Honors presented by the Black Music Collective.

Tickets will go on sale to the public Saturday, February 10 for April 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 24, 26 and 27.

Limited to only eight dates, it seems as if Carey is taking a page from Kelly Clarkson’s Las Vegas strategy book. Last year, Clarkson announced a 10-date run of Chemistry. All shows sold out. Since then, she has picked select weekends to return including New Years and Super Bowl. With this being the third chapter in her Las Vegas legacy, the chances of more dates coming down the line seem probable.

Carey’s announcement follows last week’s news that Mexican group Los Bukis will perform the Strip’s first-ever full Latin and Spanish-language residency, launching May 3 at Dolby Live at Park MGM. The theater is also home to Bruno Mars, Maroon 5 and Lady Gaga.

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” Returns to the Top 20 on Billboard Hot 100

Mariah Carey’s Christmas cheer is already spreading nationwide…

The 54-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning singer-songwriter’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” the No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Greatest of All Time Holiday 100 Songs retrospective, has jingled its way back to the Billboard Hot 100 dated November 25, 2023.

Mariah CareyCarey’s insta-classic carol re-enters the Hot 100 at No. 17 with 14 million official streams (up 29%), 7.6 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 333%) and 1,500 sold (up 7%) in the U.S. in the November 10-16 tracking week, according to Luminate.

The song, originally released in 1994, hit the Hot 100’s top 10 for the first time in December 2017. In December 2019, it ascended to the summit at last, for three weeks that holiday season. It became the second holiday song ever to reign, after “The Chipmunk Song,” by The Chipmunks with David Seville, spent four weeks at No. 1 beginning in December 1958.

All I Want for Christmas Is You” led the Hot 100 for two more weeks in the 2020 holiday season, thus, passing “The Chipmunk Song” for the most for a Yuletide song, and for three more weeks over the 2021 holidays and a single-season-best four frames during the 2022 season, upping its total to 12 weeks at No. 1.

“When I wrote [it], I had absolutely no idea the impact the song would eventually have worldwide,” Carey marveled of “All I Want for Christmas Is You” in 2021. “I’m so full of gratitude that so many people enjoy it with me every year.”

With its 2019 coronation, Carey claimed her 19th Hot 100 No. 1, extending her mark for the most among soloists and moving to within one of The Beatles’ overall record 20.

Plus, when “All I Want for Christmas Is You” dominated the Hot 100 dated Jan. 4, 2020, Carey became the first artist to have ranked at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in four distinct decades (the 1990s, 2000s, ‘10s and ‘20s).

The song has also helped Carey claim the longest span of any soloist topping the Hot 100 – 32 years and five months, dating to her first week atop the chart dated August 4, 1990, with her debut single “Vision of Love” – and swell her total to 91 weeks at No. 1 among all her leaders, the most of any act.

Carey performed “All I Want for Christmas Is You s” on an awards show for the first time as part of the 2023 Billboard Music Awards (November 19). She was also honored with the Billboard Chart Achievement Award for the song, presented to her by her 12-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan.

Billboard has been an integral part of my life for a very long time now,” Carey said in her acceptance speech. “Even though I don’t acknowledge time, I kind of have to admit that some of my most memorable times in my career are connected to Billboard and the BBMAs. One thing I really have to say that I’m really grateful for is the fact that my fans have been here with me through the hits, through the misses, the No. 1s and the Bubbling Unders.”

Below “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” three other holiday classics make annual resurgences on the Hot 100, led by Wham!’s “Last Christmas” at No. 32 (11.3 million streams, up 41%).
