Odette Annable to Star in Andrés Beltrán’s Psychological Horror Film “Anima”

The 40-year-old Colombian & Cuban American actress will star in Anima, a psychological horror film written and directed by Colombia’s Andrés Beltrán.

Production is underway now in Bogotá.

Anima follows Helena (Annable), a forensic medical investigator overwhelmed by grief after the death of her husband Richard (Londono). When she becomes obsessed with a disturbing new case, Helena starts to believe she can bring Richard back — unleashing a cascade of terrifying consequences.

Revolori plays Pablo, a key figure tied to the mystery that pulls Helena further into a spiral of obsession and horror. Leguizamo portrays Helena’s daughter, Julia.

“This is a deeply emotional and unsettling story—about grief, denial, and the terrifying cost of refusing to let go,” said Beltrán. “It’s been exciting to bring this vision to life with such a dedicated creative team.”

The project secured partial production and post-production financing from Notorious Productions Film Fund, which focuses on independent films with established talent and strong international distribution potential.

“From the very beginning, Anima stood out as something special,” said producer Cherubini, “genre storytelling that’s grounded in emotional truth. With this cast and Andrés at the helm, we’re building something haunting and memorable.”

Known for roles in The CW’s Supergirl and Matt Reeves’ Cloverfield, Annable has more recently been seen playing bartender Geri Broussard in The CW’s Walker, which ran for four seasons.

On the feature side, Beltrán most recently directed Quicksand, a horror thriller penned by Westworld‘s Matt Pitts, which marked his English-language debut. Prior to that helming the horror film Llanto Maldito (Tarumama) and crime thriller Malos Dias (Bad Days), he’s also worked on international series like Primate, The Marked Heart, Savage Rhythm and MalaYerba.

The Latino-Indigenous actor, a series regular on the CW period drama Walker: Independence, is crossing over into the future as a guest star on Walker.

Cortez will appear on the contemporary Walker as Detective Sonny Alcala, a shrewd homicide detective who got his start working closely with Cordell Walker (Jared Padalecki) and Captain James (Coby Bell) on a case years ago. The detective initially calls Walker as a courtesy to let him know of a death relating to a case, but something doesn’t quite add up.

The Walker origin series Walker Independence is set in the 1800s and follows Abigail Walker, the ancestor of Padalecki’s Cordell Walker. Cortez plays Calian, a member of an Indigenous scouting party outside Independence, Texas. In the midseason finale, Calian left Independence after he was put on trial for the murder of one of the town’s founding fathers, Francis Reyes.

Padalecki, who is an executive producer on Walker Independence, recently made a cameo of his own on the prequel series. In the Season 3 episode, Padelecki’s unnamed character has a scene with Walker alum Matt Barr’s Hoyt Rawlins. The pair meet while trying to rob a train. They exchange a joke and consider partnering up, though that never comes to fruition. Instead, the two thieves draw their guns on each other. Hoyt comes out victorious.

Cortez’s episode airdate is still to be determined.

Gabriela Quezada Upped to Series Regular on The CW’s “Walker Independence”

The Latina actress, originally hired for a recurring role on The CW’s new fall Walker prequel Walker Independencehas been upped to series regular ahead of the premiere, which is yet to be announced.

It follows an affluent Bostonian named Abby Walker (McNamara), whose husband is murdered in front of her while on their trek out West. Consumed by a need for vengeance, Abby crosses paths with Hoyt Rawlins (Barr), described as a “lovable rogue in search of a purpose” in the logline. The pair soon find themselves in Independence, Texas, where they encounter a diverse and eclectic cohort of citizens hiding from their demons and chasing their dreams, all while becoming agents of change themselves in the small town.

Quezada plays Lucia Reyes. Being the daughter of a rancher and the girlfriend of an outlaw isn’t always the easiest, but Lucia carves out her own path in the town of Independence. Using her gift of song, Lucia summons the courage to find her voice singing to the adoring fans of Hagan’s dance hall, hoping it will lead to a brighter future. After a family tragedy keeps her in town to help save the family ranch, Lucia finds a deeper strength to defend the ranch and find those responsible for doing harm to those close to her.

In addition to Barr and McNamara, Findlay joins previously announced series regulars Philemon Chambers, Lawrence Kao, Greg Hovanessian and Justin Johnson Cortez.

CBS Studios is the studio behind both Walker and Walker Independence.

Quezada’s previous television credits include guest-starring roles on 9-1-1, Schooled and The Goldbergs.

Odette Annable Upped to Series Regular on The CW’s Drama Series “Walker”

After recurring in Season 1 of Walker, the 35-year-old Colombian & Cuban American actress has been upped to series regular for the upcoming second season of the breakout hit CW drama series.

The reboot of the popular CBS drama centers on Cordell Walker (Jared Padalecki), a widower and father of two with his own moral code who returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years, only to discover there’s harder work to be done at home.

Annable, who appears in six of 11 Season 1 episodes, plays Geraldine “Geri” Broussard, an old friend of Cordell Walker (Padalecki) and his late wife Emily (Genevieve Padalecki) who runs a bar and has emerged as a romantic interest for Cordell.

It’s familiar territory for Annable, who has been a lead/series regular on a slew of series, including the CW’s SupergirlCBS All Access’ Tell Me a StoryCBS’ Pure Genius and Fox’s House and Breaking In.

The 56-year-old half-Mexican American actress has joined the cast of The CW’s drama Walker in a recurring role.

Meneses, who has appeared on Jane The Virgin and Why Women Kill, will play Adriana, a successful psychiatrist and published author and mother of Micki Ramirez (Lindsey Morgan), Cordell Walker’s new partner in the Texas Rangers. She’s a strong personality who’s manipulative and very invasive when it comes to her daughter Micki’s life.

Walker, which launched in January, has become The CW’s most-watched series premiere in five years and has been renewed for a second season. It stars Jared Padalecki as Walker, a widower and father of two with his own moral code, as he returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years.

The series, a reimagining of CBS’ long-running 1990s action/crime series Walker, Texas Ranger, hails from Rideback and CBS Studios.

Meneses is coming off feature film The Wall of Mexico and has also appeared in Everybody Loves RaymondThe Goldbergs, CSI and Prison Break.

Like the original series, created by Albert S. Ruddyand Leslie Greif, the reboot will explore morality, family, and rediscovering our lost common ground. 

Written and executive produced by Anna Fricke, it centers on Cordell Walker (Padalecki), a widower and father of two with his own moral code, who returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years, only to discover there’s harder work to be done at home. He’ll attempt to reconnect with his children, navigate clashes with his conservative family, and find unexpected common ground with his new partner Micki (Morgan), one of the first women in Texas Rangers’ history, while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death. 

Morgan’s Micki was born and raised in San Antonio. Focused and perceptive, her family has been in Texas since before it was Texas. She’s been in the Army and on the police force and knows first-hand what it’s like to be singled out and discriminated against because of her gender.

Morgan currently portrays Raven Reyes on the CW’s The 100, which is wrapping up its seventh and final season. She’s also starred on General Hospital.
