Cruz Named Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive

Penelope Cruz has beat out a world of competition to earn a special honor.

The 40-year-old Spanish actress and Oscar winner has been given the title of Esquire‘s Sexiest Woman Alive.

Cruz, who stars in the upcoming Spanish-language film Ma Ma and Grimsby with Sacha Baron Cohen is the 10th honoree and the first Latina ever to earn the annual title.

“I’ve played a lot of tricks on myself,” she says in the magazine’s cover story. “I’ve made it hard for me sometimes, especially in my teens and 20s. I had an attraction to drama. Most of us have that, especially if you are an artist — you feel like you are tempted to explore the darkness. I could not be less interested now. For me, the most attractive, charming, cool, fun, interesting thing — how could I call it? A plan.”

The 22-year-old part-Mexican American has been named the first-ever global beauty brand ambassador for N.Y.C. New York Color.

Coty Inc. selected Lovato for the new role because she’s not afraid to take risks when it comes to her beauty looks, which mirrors the brand’s mission to “deliver fashionable, innovative, yet budget friendly go-to beauty essentials inspired by the hottest trends from the New York fashion scene,” according to MarketWatch.

“We are thrilled to welcome the talented Demi Lovato into the N.Y.C. New York Color family,” said Johanna Businelli, Chief Marketing Officer, Color Cosmetics, Coty Inc. “Demi’s youthful, modern sensibility, audacious style and wide-reaching appeal make her the perfect choice to represent N.Y.C. The “Really Don’t Care” singer will represent a full range of N.Y.C. New York Color products, including eye shadow, mascara, lip color, face powders and nail polish.

Lovato has shared her enthusiasm about her new role.

“I’m really excited to be partnering with N.Y.C. New York Color,” she said. “Their products make playing with different looks and trends fun, easy and affordable by all!”

N.Y.C. New York Color was launched in 1999 and helped redefine the U.S. budget cosmetics category.

Lovato will be featured in global marketing and social media campaigns starting in 2015.

Mattel Releases Mariachi Barbie to Commemorate Mexican Independence Day

Mattel has released a brand new Mexican Barbie to commemorate el 16 de Septiembre, Mexican Independence Day.

Mariachi Barbie dons a fitted black bolero jacket, cropped pants trimmed in an intricate golden brocade, and a wide-brimmed sombrero. Barbie completes her look with tall black boots and a pink ribbon bow tie.

The doll celebrates “one of Mexico’s most representative traditions in music and culture” and will be available to the public in September, the company said in a statement. Mariachi Barbie joins the 2014 Barbie Dolls of the World Collection.

Just last year Mattel faced criticism for releasing a Mexican Barbie dressed in a pink, ruffled dress and holding a chihuahua and a passport. ”

It would be nice to see some contemporary images from these countries,” Felix Sanchez, chairman and co-founder of the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts told Fox News Latino at the time. “These images seem very dated and seem to have been created for a different time.”

But Sanchez doesn’t have any qualms about the new Mexican Barbie.

“Well, at least she’s not coming off as sexy Latina Barbie, spinning on a pedestal,” Felix Sanchez told Buzzfeed, referring to Sofia Vergara’s largely criticized Emmy’s skit. “This is an image that does exist. It helps us embrace toy making in a way that makes it relevant and authentic.”

Rodriguez appears on the cover of the TBD issue of the Spanish-language magazine wearing a blue button-down shirt. But he’s also seen in green and a black shirt in a video shared by the magazine. The 20-second spot features Rodriguez posing for the camera, and though he doesn’t say a word, it does show his personality. At one point, he’s very concentrated on posing, but when he sees the camera, he cracks a smile and gives a thumbs up.

For it’s must-read feature on Rodriguez, the magazine called on the soccer star’s wife, Daniela Ospina, to offer insight on her handsome husband. She said he’s “a very attractive man. But what I most like is the way he is, his personality. It’s what I really love.”

Even though his powerful performance at the World Cup led to Real Madrid acquiring him from French-league club AS Monaco this summer and signing him for six seasons, his wife says he hasn’t let fame go to his head.

“He’s still the same. What really characterizes him is his humility,” the player’s mother, Maria del Pilar Rubio, said in a statement to the magazine, adding that Rodriguez “hasn’t let himself be impressed” by those contracts worth millions.

Bündchen to Appear as Part of Under Armour’s New Women’s Campaign

The 34-year-old Brazilian supermodel has signed on to be part of Under Armour’s new women’s campaign.

Bündchen, the world’s top-earning model in 2014, has reportedly agreed to a multiyear deal, according to ESPN.com. Financial terms were not disclosed.

On Tuesday, the shoe and apparel brand posted a teaser video on YouTube featuring Bündchen, who is married to New England Patriots‘ star quarterback Tom Brady.

In the video, she’s seen wearing the brand’s gear and heading into an empty loft with a heavy bag hanging from the ceiling. It ends with the promise of more to come about the relationship Thursday.

In 2010, Brady joined Under Armour, receiving an undisclosed piece of the company for his endorsement. Although Brady has been selective with his endorsements, landing Bündchen might have been harder.

Last month, Forbes magazine said she was the highest-earning model in the world for the eighth year in a row, pulling in an estimated $47 million. In comparison, Brady received a $30 million signing bonus for a restructured and extended deal he signed last year with the Patriots, and he has a $2 million base salary for this upcoming season.

Bündchen will be part of Under Armour’s women’s campaign, which kicked off last month with the signing of ballerina Misty Copeland, another nontraditional endorsement deal for the brand. The Copeland spot, featuring her against-all-odds story, has garnered more than 5.8 million views on YouTube.

The campaign, with its I Will What I Want slogan, also includes skier Lindsey Vonn, soccer player Kelley O’Hara and tennis player Sloane Stephens.

Under Armour’s women’s business registers about $500 million in sales and makes up roughly 30 percent of the company’s overall apparel sales annually.

The husband-wife team of Brady and Bündchen is perhaps the highest-profile to align with a sports brand since Andre Agassi left Nike in 2005 to join Adidas, the brand endorsed by his wife, Steffi Graf. Agassi went back to Nike last year.

The 33-year-old Brazilian supermodel has been declared the highest-earning model of 2014, according to Forbes.

The financial magazine estimates Bündchen’s fortune at “$47 million before taxes and fees in the last 12 months.”

It’s the eighth year in a row that Bündchen, who was named the new face of Chanel No. 5 in May, has topped the list of top-earning models.

Bündchen’s lucrative contracts with fashion brands like H&M and Chanel, as well asgigs with Pantene, have helped her build a massive empire.

Bündchen, who is married to NFL quarterback Tom Brady, far outpaced the next highest-earning models, Doutzen Kroes and Adriana Lima, whose earnings were pegged at $8 million each.

Lima, a Victoria’s Secret Angel since 2000, is the lingerie giant’s longest-running model.

The two Kates — Kate Moss and Kate UptonMiranda Kerr and Liu Wen all pulled in $7 million.

Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover girl Upton is the highest-earning newcomer on the list.

Meanwhile, Alessandra Ambrosio comes in at No. 8 on the list. With her own clothing line and deals with H&M and Victoria’s Secret, the Brazilian supermodel raked in $5 million in 2014.

Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, decided to bypass the big sportswear firms and, instead, inked a deal with Italian shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti.

The first look at his shoe range is this red Nappa leather high-top, which has a hint of sci-fi style. According to Nice Kicks, the Kid Cudi x Giuseppe Zanotti High-Top will launch as a part of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection.
