Bella Thorne has a new guardian

The 19-year-old half-Cuban American actress/singer has joined the voice cast of The Weinstein Co.’s The Guardian Brothers.

Bella Thorne

Thorne, best known for starring in the Disney Channel series Shake It Up, joins a cast that includes Edward Norton, Jim Gaffigan, Meryl Streep, Mel Brooks and Nicole Kidman in the U.S. version of the animated movie.

Initially distributed in China by Alibaba Pictures in early 2016 (under the original title The Little Door Gods), the film is being re-voiced in English by The Weinstein Co.

The Weinstein Co. acquired worldwide rights, with the exception of China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau, for the film.

The original movie follows the comedic adventures of two “door guardians” — figures from Chinese folklore who protect the entranceway of one’s home — who are out of work because contemporary Chinese people are so busy with modern consumer life that they have forgotten about the spirit world.

Gary Wang wrote and directed The Little Door Gods, which grossed $12 million during its China release in 2016.

Ramirez to Star in Lifetime’s Television Movie “Drink, Slay, Love”

Cierra Ramirez is taking a bite out of a new project…

The 21-year-old Latina actress and The Fosters star will star in Drink, Slay, Love, a television movie based on Sarah Beth Durst’s novel of the same name.

Cierra Ramirez

Directed by Vanessa Parise, the film follows Pearl, portrayed by Ramirez, a typical 16-year-old vampire — fond of blood, allergic to the sun, and generally pretty evil. After a mysterious attack leaves her able to survive in the daylight, Pearl’s powerful family quickly takes advantage of this new ability, sending her to high school to gather fresh young blood for an upcoming feast in honor of the Vampire King. The only problem is that Pearl is starting to grow a conscience. How can she serve up her new friends to be slaughtered? Then again, she’s definitely dead if she lets her family down.

Gregg Sulkin, Zach Peladeau, McKaley Miller, Angelique Rivera, Sarah Desjardins and Jasmine Sky Sarin will co-star.

The pic was adapted by Eirene Donohue, with Sheri Singer of Just Singer Entertainment serving as executive producer along with Bella Thorne.

Shooting has already started and the film is set to air on Lifetime in early 2017.

Trailer Released for Thorne’s Latest Film “Boo! A Madea Halloween”

Bella Thorne is Mad(ea) about Halloween

The official trailer has been released for Tyler Perry’s latest Madea installment, Boo! A Madea Halloween, which stars the 18-year-old half-Cuban American actress/singer.

Bella Thorne

What started as a joke in Chris Rock‘s Top Five prompted Perry to launch the latest installment in the Madea franchise (also the original title Rock created as a spoof).

During an appearance on The Tonight Show, Perry told host Jimmy Fallon that Lionsgate called him because they loved the idea.

“Dude, it’s a joke in Chris’ movie!” Perry said. “But then I came up with the concept, and it’s pretty damn funny.”

As per usual with Perry’s movies, he wrote, directed, produced and stars in Boo!

The trailer opens with what appears to be a customary horror film, until Madea steps in and punches a clown. It’s Halloween, and she’s eager to make some money — even if it means keeping her eye on a group of rebellious teens (Thorne, Diamond White) who want nothing more than to hit the party around the corner.

The girls won’t be Madea’s only challenge, though. Throughout the trailer, she encounters ghosts, zombies and killers, among others.

“You see white people?” Joe whispers, prompting screams from the entire room.

Jimmy Tatro and Cassi Davis round out the film’s cast.

Boo! A Madea Halloween hits theatres this October.

Thorne to Star in the YA Drama “Break My Heart 1,000 Times”

Bella Thorne is experiencing a heartbreak

The 18-year-old alf-Cuban American actress/singer will reunite with her Midnight Sun director Scott Speer as the lead in Break My Heart 1,000 Times.

Bella Thorne

Wonder Woman scribe Jason Fuchs will pen the adaptation of Daniel Waters’ YA novel for Gold Circle Films.

Described as The Fault in Our Stars meets The Sixth Sense, the film is set after a cataclysmic event has torn the barrier between our world and the next, leaving Remnants — ghostlike essences of the deceased — part of everyday life. After years of quiet coexistence with the living, a Remnant sends a threatening message to a young girl, propelling her on a mission that will forever change the course of her life.

Thorne recently wrapped the lead role in Speer’s Midnight Sun and has a slew of other projects in the works, including The BabysitterBoo! A Madea Halloween and the Freeform drama Famous in Love, which was picked up to series in April.

Thorne Signs with Creative Artists Agency (CAA)

Bella Thorne is getting Creative

The 18-year-old half Cuban American actress/singer and former Disney Channel star has signed with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

Bella Thorne

The move comes as Thorne, who has been branching out fast into feature films as both an actress and producer, just finished filming Midnight Sun opposite Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween and The Babysitter with Robbie Amell and directed by McG.

On the TV side, her Freeform pilot Famous in Love, adapted by Marlene King, has landed a series order.

Her recent credits include the SXSW pic Shovel Buddies, which she also produced, and Thorne now is in production on a second Awesomeness Films movie, You Get Me, in which she will also star and produce. She is voicing a role in Focus Features’ animated Ratchet and Clank and over the summer will begin production on Xavier Dolan’s The Death and Life of John F. Donovan.

She had been repped by WME.

Thorne has 11.3 million Instagram followers, 9.9 million Facebook fans and 6.3 million Twitter followers. She also has a novel, Autumn Falls, and another, Autumn’s Kiss, coming in the fall.
