Martinez to Star in the Revenge Thriller “Message From The King”

It’s a King’s landing for Natalie Martinez

The 30-year-old Cuban American actress has landed a role in Message From The King, a revenge thriller from director Fabrice Du Welz.

The film stars Chadwick Boseman as Jacob, a South African man who descends into the Los Angeles underworld in an attempt to avenge his younger sister’s death and rescue her stepson from the immoral world into which he’s been sold.

Martinez will portray Trish, the former neighbor of Jacob’s missing sister Bianca who he recruits to help find the woman’s murderer.

Teresa Palmer, Luke Evans and Alfred Molina also star.

Filming is expected to begin this month in Los Angeles.

Martinez currently plays Jess Murphy on ABC’s midseason Sunday drama Secrets And Lies, and her other recent credits include multiple episodes of Under The DomeCSI: NY and Detroit 1-8-7.

She will next be seen in the Focus Features summer pic Self/Less starring Ryan Reynolds and Ben Kingsley.

BET to Launch New Scripted Series “The Start Up,” Starring Maldonado

It’s the start of something special at BET for Allen Maldonado…

During its upfront event in New York City this week, the cable network announced plans to launch new scripted series The Start Up, which stars the 30-year-old part-Latino actor.

In the series, hip-hop prince Diggy Simmons makes his scripted series debut as Blake Monroe, the founder of TheJetsetters.com, an entertainment and lifestyle blog.

The Start Up focuses on what it means to be young, gifted and digital, as Blake and his friends strategize for fame and financing while navigating the freedoms and pressures of adulthood.

In addition to Simmons and Maldonado, the series also stars Teyana Taylor, Bria Murphy, Chris Brew and Stephanie Charles.

Maldonado’s previous credits include the short-lived television series Chase, Detroit 1-8-7, Rizzoli & Isles, Lie to Me and The Shield, as well as a recurring role on The Young and the Restless.

Martinez Cast in CBS’ “Under the Dome”

The 28-year-old Cuban-American actress has been cast in CBS’ new drama series Under the Dome.

Based on Stephen King’s novel, the series follows residents in the community as they deal with post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers as to what the barrier is, where it came from and when — and if — it will go away.

Martinez, who has a recurring role on CSI: New York, will play Deputy Linda, a young, ambitious deputy who’s is fiercely loyal to the town’s sheriff, a man who runs a tight ship in the town of Chester’s Mill.

CBS Television Studios will produce the drama, which was picked up straight to series, in association with Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin Television.

Martinez, who rose to acclaim as the spokesmodel for Jennifer Lopez’s JLO by Jennifer Lopez brand, has appeared in the films Death Race, The Baytown Outlaws and End of Watch. Her television credits include Fashion House, Sons of Tucson and Detroit 1-8-7.

Martinez to Star in CBS Drama Pilot

The 27-year-old Cuban American actress has been cast  in the pilot for the CBS drama Widow Detective, which centers on a decorated police detective who, after losing three partners in the line of duty, becomes surrogate husband, lover and father to their families.

Martinez, who previously appeared as Detective Ariana Sanchez on Detroit 1-8-7, will play a widow in the pilot.

Martinez, who got her big break as the spokesmodel for Jennifer Lopez’s JLO by Jennifer Lopez fragrance, also stars in Pitbull and Marc Anthony’s video for “Rain Over Me.”
