Another of Cardi B’s massive hits is shining bright like a diamond

The 33-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” has been certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Cardi BBoth Cardi B and Meg posted on X shortly after hearing the news about having another plaque on the way to celebrate their latest accolades.

“Awww y’all WAP just went diamond… me and @theestallion really did that!! Love y’all so much… thank you for streaming and making history with us #WAP,” Cardi wrote.

To which the Houston Hottie responded: “WOWW omg diamond sisterrr thank you for having me!”

The certification gives Cardi a fourth diamond song, the most of any female rapper ever, and serves as Megan’s first.

“WAP” arrived during the COVID-19 pandemic in August 2020 and became the first female rap collab to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100, where it spent four non-consecutive weeks.

Cardi and Meg teamed up for a steamy “WAP” music video, which features an appearance from reality mogul Kylie Jenner, and currently boasts over 583 million views.

“I been had this record for a long time. I wanted it to be like four, five females,” Cardi B told Hot 97 in 2020 of the hit’s origin. “It was just such a good vibe. When I heard the song, I thought she only put one verse… I didn’t even know she put a verse almost at the end of it… It was just too fire.”

The “WAP” duo performed the anthem for the first time at the 2021 Grammy Awards and then reunited a year later during Cardi’s set at Wireless Fest in 2022.

Cardi B will look to keep the accolades coming as she returned with the release of her “Ah Ha” single on Friday (July 31), which serves as her first single since 2025’s Am I the Drama?.

Demían Bichir to Executive-Produce Vincent De Luca’s U.S.-Mexico Border Immigration Documentary “Desert Angel”

Demían Bichir has earned his wings

The 63-year-old Mexican Oscar-nominated actor and Danny Ramirez have joined Vincent De Luca’s U.S.-Mexico border immigration documentary Desert Angel as executive producers.

Demián BichirJava Films, which took worldwide distribution rights in January, has also revealed a mid-October release for the film, which has played a string of festivals including Austin, Palm Springs and Cleveland.

Ramirez is also adding the documentary to the burgeoning slate of Pinstripes, his newly formed production company with Tom Culliver.

Desert Angel is produced by Big Pup Film, Assembly Line Entertainment, Sons of Rigor and Sevana Films and Pinstripes, with Janek Ambros, David Bennett, Jillian Corsie, Dolores Delgado, De Luca, Ethan Downing and Séverine Tibi taking producer credits.

The film chronicles the work of Rafael Larraenza, a volunteer rescuer who has spent the last 30 years risking his life searching for migrants lost along the US-Mexico border.

Filmed across all southern border states over the course of five years, the documentary captures Larraenza’s relentless commitment, the emotional weight of each rescue mission, and the systemic forces shaping one of the most dangerous migration corridors in the world.

It also follows Indira, a mother who has spent years searching for her missing son Rodrigo, with her journey standing as a powerful testament to the anguish of countless families navigating the uncertainties of the crossing.

Bichir’s involvement brings a personal and professional resonance to the project. The Mexico City-born actor is one of the most decorated performers to bridge Latin American and Hollywood cinema.

He clinched an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in 2012 for his performance in A Better Life as an undocumented immigrant struggling to build a life in Los Angeles. Alongside drawing widespread critical acclaim, brought the immigration debate mainstream American cinema.

The actor went on to appear in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, Oliver Stone’s Savages, and the FX series The Bridge.

He most recently starred in the supernatural horror Black Phone 2 and Andy Garcia’s Diamond. In tandem, he has been a passionate advocate in favor of immigrants and their contribution, also penning a number of guest columns for Deadline over the years suggesting a more human approach.

Colombian-American actor Ramirez broke out as Joaquín Torres in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Captain America: Brave New World, with other credits including Top Gun: Maverick and The Devil All the Time.

Off screen, he recently co-founded Pinstripes alongside Culliver, with an ambitious slate of projects in development including the soccer drama Baton, which counts Victoria Alonso and David Beckham among its producers.

“To have two incredible actors like Demián Bichir and Danny Ramirez join the film as executive producers is more than I could have hoped for. Demián is a tireless advocate for immigrants and Danny is a passionate champion of Latino voices and stories. Together, they will amplify these important conversations and foster much-needed empathy for people whose lives are mirrored in the film,” said director De Luca.

Lead producer Ambros echoed these sentiments, saying: “Having two brilliant actors and filmmakers who care deeply about the film is invaluable.”

Sony Pictures Classics Acquires Majority of Global Rights to Andy Garcia’s “Diamond”

Andy Garcia’s latest project will be shining bright around the world…

Sony Pictures Classics is taking a majority of global rights to the 70-year-old Cuban actor’s crime drama Diamond, which the Oscar nominee directed, wrote, produced and stars in.

Andy Garcia, DiamondThe film has its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

The contemporary Los Angeles noir follows Joe Diamond (Garcia), a man out of time, and an urban legend with an emotional traumatic past. He has the uncanny ability to solve crimes that even the LAPD cannot – armed only with the savvy and dry humor reminiscent of the gumshoe detectives of that genre.

Along with designing all the music for the film. Garcia co-wrote the original score with his longtime collaborator Arturo Sandoval. Both are Grammy and Latin Grammy award winners.

“I’ve been working on this story for close to 20 years. This is not unusual for personal films in the independent world. Stories take time to unfold. They haunt you, as you continue to work on them. When they are ready, in their own time, the movie gods open the window of opportunity. Perhaps we exhaust them with our persistence and that great obstacle is overcome by the dream. So, they give up and bless you with this extraordinary cast to tell your story. Dreams sometimes do come true. As Joe Diamond the protagonist in our story states. ‘Dreams are a way of escaping your reality, unless those dreams are your reality,’” said Garcia.

Sony Pictures Classics added, “One of those great Phillip Marlowe private eye crime mysteries of the past, full of surprises, filled with colorful, rich characters, played to the hilt by a stellar cast led by Andy Garcia, Vicki Krieps, Brendan Fraser, Bill Murray and Dustin Hoffman. Director Andy Garcia’s years in the making labor of love is finally here. Audiences will love it.”

The film’s cast also includes Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread, Corsage), Oscar winner Brendan Fraser (The Whale, Rental Family), Rosemarie DeWitt (La La Land, Rachel Getting Married), Oscar nominee Bill Murray (Lost in Translation, The French Dispatch), two-time Academy Award winner Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man, Kramer vs. Kramer), Academy Award nominee Demián Bichir (A Better Life, The Hateful Eight), Danny Huston (Succession, The Constant Gardener), LaTanya Richardson Jackson (The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey), Yul Vazquez (Severance, The Outsider), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2) and Rachel Ticotin (The Act, Man on Fire).

CineSon production (Garcia’s Production Co), the film was produced by Jai Stefan for Shrink Media, Frank Mancuso Jr. for FGM Entertainment and Paul Soriano from Black Cap Pictures / TEN17P.
