DJ Juan Magan Launching New SiriusXM Biweekly, Bilingual Show

DJ Juan Magan is about to mixdown

SiriusXM is launching a new biweekly, bilingual show hosted by the 36-year-old Spanish born deejay in its bid to continue expanding its Latin programming.

DJ Juan Magan

MixDown with Juan Magan will premiere Friday at 9:00 pm ET. The one-hour show will air the first and third Friday of every month, with replays Wednesdays at 3:00 pm ET, on SiriusXM La Mezcla, channel 149.

Magan, who started as a deejay in his native Spain, has become one of the leading Latin music deejays in the world, with his own chart-topping hits as well as collaborations and remixes with many Latin and non-Latin stars. His show will feature both his own material as well as new tracks from emerging acts and global stars.

Magan’s deal with SiriusXM comes at a time when dance music and EDM are increasingly expanding into the Latin realm, in the U.S., Latin America and Spain.

Last December, Universal Music Latin America announced the launch of a new dance label called Aftercluv Dance Lab. Magan is signed to the label, which has offices throughout Latin America as well as the U.S.

Sirius’ La Mezcla channel, where MixDown With Juan Magan will live, is one of 10 exclusive commercial-free music channels on SiriusXM Latino, in addition to Sirius’ other Latin programming in sports, news and variety.

A new Pitbull channel is expected to launch this year.

López to Perform at This Year’s Final Terra Live Music Concert

Pablo López is feelin’ the (House of) Blues

The Spanish singer-songwriter has been added to the list of performers at Terra Live Music, the streamed concert series.

Pablo Lopez

López joins a roster that includes Luis Fonsi, J Balvin and Juan Magan for the quadruple-threat show that will close Terra Live Music’s 2014 season.

The show will take place on Monday, November 18 at the House of Blues in Las Vegas and will be streamed the following day (Tuesday, Nov. 18) on Terra.com (7:30 pm ET).

It’ll be the last show of the year for the series, which has grown steadily over the past several years and now features one show a month.

Offerings for 2014 included live performances by Juanes and La Ley as well as “home” concerts staged at fans’ houses by the likes of Sie7e and Patty Cantú.

This, however, will be the first time four different acts will perform on the same show, with each act playing a solo set.

Fonsi, the headliner, is one of pop music’s leading stars. J Balvin, of course, is in the midst of touring with Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull and his new single “Ay Vamos” this week topped Billboard’s Latin Rhythm Airplay chart for the fifth consecutive week. Magan will showcase his new dance hits from Spain, and López — the newcomer in the group — is up for a Latin Grammy in the Best New Artist category for his pop fare.
