Bad Bunny Partners with Adidas Originals & Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS to Bring Formula 1 Racing to Puerto Rico

Bad Bunny has a new formula to promote his native land…

The 31-year-old Puerto Rican Grammy-winning superstar, Adidas Originals and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team are joining up to bring Formula 1 racing to Puerto Rico for the first time on Saturday, August 2.

Bad BunnyTo celebrate the three-way collaboration bringing F1 to Puerto Rico, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 have also announced that Bad Bunny is officially joining the team as its newest member.

The press release did not specify what duties this will entail.

Open to the public and free of charge, this showcase — which kicks off at 9:00 am local time — will be the “first time in history that a Formula 1 car has touched Puerto Rican soil,” according to the press release.

At the heart of this spectacle is a demo run featuring a Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 car driven by Mexican motorsports star Esteban Gutiérrez that will race across the Puente Dos Hermanos bridge, which was built in 1910.

Following the demo run, attendees will get the opportunity to immerse themselves in racing history. A curated exhibit at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico (aka El Choli) will showcase Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 race suits, gloves, boots and other archival gear, honoring decades of motorsport excellence.

As Bad Bunny continues his 30-show sold-out residency at El Choli, the partnership continues to “reflect the aim of Adidas, the artist, and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 to spotlight Puerto Rico on a global stage,” the press release notes, as it also aims to “energize the team’s serious competitive perspective through Bad Bunny’s trailblazing identity as a generational force and Originals’ unrelenting aesthetic innovation.”

Bad Bunny Releases New Single “Alambre Púa” & Its Corresponding Music Video

Bad Bunny is celebrating his native Isla del Encanto with the release of a new track and its corresponding music video.

Throughout the first three dates of his 30-show No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot (a.k.a. El Choli), the 31-year-old Grammy-winning supersar has been performing a new track titled “Alambre Púa” as the opening song of the show.

Bad BunnyOn Monday, July 14, El Conejo Malo finally released the single, along with an accompanying visual.

The nearly 3-minute music video, recorded at the venue, transforms the stage into a visual homage to Bad Bunny’s Puerto Rican roots, with lush mountainous landscapes and Taino-inspired dancer weaving through the scene, wearing beige colors with straw accents. There was also a ceiba-like tree at the right side of the stage — Puerto Rico’s national tree and a cultural symbol.

The percussive-heavy track is produced by Tainy and Luis Ahmed Irizarry.

The stage design was executed with the help of set designer Gabriela Escalera, Mayna Magruder, production designer Monica Monserrate, Natalia Rosa, Rafi Pérez, and A1 Productions’ executive producer Sigfredo Bellaflores — all of whom captured Bad Bunny’s creativity and deep connection to his heritage, marking a powerful beginning to an already historic residency.

“Me amarraste el corazón con alambre ‘e púa”, he sings. He pairs this sentiment with declarations like, “Hoy te vo’a buscar y te vo’a besar cerca del lunar.”

Benito’s residency in Puerto Rico continues through the rest of July and into mid September. The first nine dates of the show have been specifically reserved for local residents only, with the remainder of the residency open to the public.
