Bruno Mars Named to Gold House’s A100 List of Impactful Asians & Pacific Islanders

Bruno Mars has earned a spot on the A(100) List

The 36-year-old part-Puerto Rican Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and his Silk Sonic group mate Anderson .Paak have been named to Gold House’s 2022 A100 List, which seeks to recognize the 100 APIs (Asians and Pacific Islanders) who have most significantly impacted American culture and society in the last year across various industries.

Mars, who was born in Hawaii and is part Filipino, and .Paak won four Grammys at this year’s awards show for their chart-topping single “Leave the Door Open.”

The A100 List was announced to help commemorate Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Other honorees include Michelle Yeoh, Dwayne Johnson and Mindy Kaling as this year’s A100 Legends, while Gemma Chan and Kelly Marie Tran are among the A100 Hall of Fame Inductees for 2022.

Additional honorees in the Entertainment section of the list Simu Liu, Chloé Zhao, Bowen YangTurning Red helmer Domee Shi, the creative teams and stars of Pachinko and Squid Game, Jimmy O. Yang, Destin Daniel Cretton, Riz Ahmed and Ryuske Hamaguchi.

The annual lists’ honorees are selected by a selection committee. Among this year’s judges are Lea Salonga, Daniel Dae Kim, Lisa Link, Janet Yang and Janice Min.

Gold House will celebrate the notable APIs at its inaugural in-person Gold Gala on May 21 in downtown Los Angeles.

Gomez to Receive Chart Topper Award at Billboard’s Women in Music Event

Selena Gomez is on a hot streak… And, she’s getting an award to prove it!

The 23-year-old half-Mexican American singer/actress will receive the Chart Topper award at Billboard’s annual Women in Music event, which will take place on December 11 in New York.

The prestigious award, won last year by Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, recognizes major career milestones on Billboard’s music charts.

Gomez has been in rare chart form. Her latest album, Revival, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in October with 117,000 equivalent first-week album units.

It’s Gomez’s second U.S. No. 1 album following 2013’s Stars Danceand to date she has enjoyed nearly 6.7 million worldwide album sales and over 22 million single sales.

The first single from Revival, “Good For You” featuring A$AP Rocky, is Gomez’s fastest-ever platinum seller and highest charting single on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 5. “Good For You” spent three consecutive weeks at No. 1 at Top 40 radio.

“In the last few months, Selena has broken onto the scene as an adult, and come into her own as an artist with the success of Revival,” comments Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media’s Entertainment Group, which consists of Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter. “We want to highlight this moment for a woman who has become a role model for many, a feminist, an independent voice whose new album truly showcases her as a mature artist.”

Lifetime has partnered with Billboard to televise the event for the first time on December 18, which will take place at Cipriani Midtown in New York.

J Balvin to Take Part in the “Billboard En Vivo” Concert Series

The 29-year-old Colombian reggaeton singer will take center stage when Billboard launches the Billboard En Vivo tour.

The new concert series will visit intimate venues in five cities this April and feature live acoustic performances by rising the Latin rhythm artist, as well as Bachata sensation Prince Royce and Salsa singer-songwriter Victor Manuelle, all of whom are Billboard Latin Music Awards finalists.

The Billboard En Vivo tour will begin on April 3 in New York City, and visits Chicago (April 7), L.A. (April 15), Houston (April 22) before wrapping up April 29 in Miami.

The concerts are a warm-up for the Billboard Latin Music Awards, which take place April 30 from the BankUnited Center in Miami.

“The Billboard En Vivo concert series demonstrates Billboard’s continued commitment to the evolving Latin market,” comments Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media‘s Entertainment Group, which consists of Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter. “As Latin musicians continue to build mainstream momentum, Billboard is bringing together hundreds of passionate music fans for a series of special moments leading up to one of our biggest nights, the Billboard Latin Music Awards.”

Telemundo is the official broadcast and digital distribution partner for Billboard En Vivo and the network will air the Billboard Latin Music Awards live at 8:00 pm EST on the big night.
