It’s drilling time for Andy Garcia.
Paramount+ has announced plans to launch Season 2 of Landman, starring the 69-year-old Cuban actor, on November 16.
In addition to Garcia, the Taylor Sheridan drama also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore and Ali Larter.
The project hails from Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions.
Season 2 will feature several new stars, including Sam Elliott in an unknown role and Stefania Spampinato as Garcia‘s wife.
Season 1 ended January 12 with cartel boss Gallino (Garcia) sparing Tommy Norris (Thornton) from a torturous end. Tommy’s boss Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) also died from a heart attack.
Despite high levels of enthusiasm over Thornton’s portrayal of Monty’s crisis manager on the oil fields, Landman was inexplicably snubbed by the Emmys this year. But the show doesn’t need awards recognition to become a hit: It had 35 million global streaming viewers for the premiere episode and set new records for Paramount+.
Landman is based on the 11-part podcast Boomtown from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly.
Co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman is executive produced by Sheridan, Wallace, David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Thornton, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Stephen Kay.
