Brandon Larracuente Returning to ABC’s Medical Drama “The Good Doctor”

Brandon Larracuente is heading back to the hospital…

The 29-year-old Puerto Rican actor is returning to ABC’s medical drama The Good Doctor.

Meanwhile, Scandal alum Guillermo Diaz will appear in a guest spot.

Larracuente was introduced in Episode 2 of Season 6. Initially set to recur, he was quickly promoted to a series regular, with Daniel, a first-year surgical resident at St. Bonaventure Hospital, getting a major storyline involving a drug overdose that put him on probation.

Larracuente departed at the end of Season 6 after Daniel was put on pain medications following a car crash and headed back to his family in Texas for recovery treatment.

Diaz will guest star as Man/Carl/Jesus. A mysterious man shows up to the hospital to donate his kidney to a complete stranger, but his reasoning causes Jordan to question his ability to give informed consent.

Starring Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy and Richard Schiff as Shaun’s mentor Dr. Glassman, main cast also includes Fiona Gubelmann as Dr. Morgan Reznick, Will Yun Lee as Dr. Alex Park, Christina Chang as Dr. Audrey Lim, Spara as Lea Dilallo, Bria Samoné Henderson as Dr. Jordan Allen, Noah Galvin as Dr. Asher Wolke and Modu as Dr. Jared Kalu.

The Good Doctor is produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios. David Shore and Liz Friedman are executive producers and co-showrunners.

Known for his roles in Bloodline, 13 Reasons Why and Party of Five, Larracuente will next star in the Prime Video drama series On Call from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television.

Known for his starring role as Scarface in the cult classic film Half-Baked, Diaz played Huck on ABC’s Scandal. He also appeared on Showtime’s Weeds, Chappelle’s Show for Comedy Central, and he recently was a series regular on ABC’s United We Fall.

Martin Sheen is returning to the West Wing…

Aaron Sorkin is reuniting his The West Wing cast, including the 80-year-old half-Spanish American actor, for the first time in 17 years with a special for HBO Max.

Sheen, Rob Lowe, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff and Bradley Whitford are getting back together with Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme for A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote.

The special will feature a theatrical performance of Hartsfield’s Landing, an episode from the NBC drama’s third season that featured Sheen’s President Barlet playing chess against Sam (Lowe) and Toby (Schiff), while the Chinese are playing war games in the Taiwan Strait and Josh (Whitford) is nervous about the 42 votes in a remote New Hampshire town’s election, which always predict the winner of that state’s primary.

It marks the second high-profile special of a classic NBC series produced by Warner Bros. set to air on HBO Max following the much-delayed Friends reunion special.

The West Wing reunion has long been in the works with Schiff saying in June that the gang was getting back together in support of Black Lives Matter following the death of George Floyd. The crew have reunited in various forms, including at ATX in Austin, for The West Wing Weekly podcast, and for an ad for Bridget Mary McCormack, a candidate for Michigan’s Supreme Court. However, this is the first time that it will air on television.

The team behind the Warner Bros. Television-produced series have organized the reunion to raise awareness for and support When We All Vote, a non-profit, nonpartisan organization co-chaired by Michelle Obama, which was founded to increase participation in every election in America.

WarnerMedia will make a donation to When We All Vote.

Michelle Obama will make a guest appearance in the special, while additional cast members and special guests from the worlds of public service and the arts will be announced in the coming weeks.

A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote will shoot over multiple days at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles in early October. Sorkin will write original exclusive material for the special, while Schlamme will serve as director of the production.

 “Tommy and I are incredibly excited to be getting The West Wing cast back together for this staged reading and to support When We All Vote in their efforts to get all of us involved in this election,” said Sorkin.

“With A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote, we are excited to revisit this legendary series and offer our passionate fans something that is substantial, meaningful and unforgettable, while also promoting an important message for our time,” added Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max. “Combined with WarnerMedia’s donation to When We All Vote, this special not only entertains, but also help ensure the organization can carry forth its mission to increase voter participation in every election.”

Sheen appeared on 140 episodes of The West Wing from 1999-2006. The won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of fictitious U.S. President Josiah “Jed” Bartlet.

ABC Renews Nicholas Gonzalez’ “The Good Doctor” for a Sophomore Season

Nicholas Gonzalez will be doing rounds for another year…

ABC has given an early second-season renewal to its hit rookie The Good Doctor, starring the 42-year-old Mexican American actor.

The news should come as no surprise, as the drama hails as the network’s most-watched freshman series in 13 years.

The number of episodes hasn’t been disclosed but star Freddie Highmore’s contract calls for 18-episode seasons at most.

In the series, created/executive produced by David Shore based on a Korean format and executive produced by Daniel Dae Kim, Highmore stars as Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, who relocates from a quiet country life to join the prestigious St. Bonaventure hospital’s surgical unit. His only advocate, Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff), challenges the skepticism and prejudices of the hospital’s board and staff when he brings him in to join the team.

In addition to Gonzalez and Highmore, the series also stars

Antonia Thomas, Chuku Modu, Beau Garrett, Hill Harper and Tamlyn Tomita.

The pilot episode of the series, from Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios, won a Humanitas Prize this year. The drama, whose hopefulness clicked with the audiences, airs Mondays at 10:00 pm ET.

“The Good Doctor’s message of inclusiveness resonates with our viewers and is a hallmark of what we aim to accomplish here at ABC,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said in announcing the renewal. “This series has quickly joined the zeitgeist and broken records in the competitive television landscape. We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Shaun Murphy will be back for another season.”

Once Upon a Time’s Evil Queen is one bad, bad witch… She killed her father, squeezed the life out of her lover’s heart and invoked a curse that turned the fairy tale world upside down.

And, you’ll soon get the chance to learn what makes the Evil Queen so vile on ABC’s hit fairy-tale drama.

Lana Parrilla, the 34-year-old Puerto Rican-American actress who plays the Evil Queen, teases the origin of her wickedness springs from one place.

“It’s one particular moment,” Parrilla tells TVGuide.com. “It’s one thing that just explodes and branches off into all these other little things, but its one big f—-up that changes her life.”

“We’ll go back in time in fairy-tale land and see who she was before she became this evil queen,” adds Parrilla. “The big secret will be revealed.”

Before she was sending the Hunstman after Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin), she was wedded to Snow’s father, King Leopold (Richard Schiff), though their dysfunctional marriage was the catalyst for her hatred of Snow.

“There is an episode coming up where you do see the king and queen together and you can see the hardship between them,” she says. “You learn of how unhealthy and unsupportive that relationship was. How he always favored his daughter more than her.”

Whether she truly loved the king or was just seeking his status is yet to be revealed, but the Evil Queen is apparently capable of love, as we’ll come to learn that she had a previous lover she truly cared for.

“It is someone that you’ve met before,” she reveals. “You see this really soft, vulnerable side to her. Even her voice shifts with a softness to it. She wants to love; it’s just difficult for her. Once she has it, she doesn’t really know how to sustain it or stabilize it.”

Her inability to love was proved when she killed off the only man in Storybrooke who’s ever shown her affection.

“I don’t think she feels good about what she did,” Parrilla says of the Evil Queen’s alter ego Regina killing Graham (Jamie Dornan) in the midseason finale.

“You see a tear coming out of Regina’s eye when she crushes the heart, which, to me, is very telling. You can see that this was not an easy decision for her.”

Once Upon a Time returns Sunday at 8:00 pm ET on ABC.
