The Mexican actor has landed a recurring role on CBS’ military drama series SEAL Team.

Jaramillo will portray Lazo, Doza’s fierce Lieutenant, and the only person Doza trusts. A former Mexican Special Forces officer, Lazo is a highly dangerous man; he’s violent but meticulous, with impeccable instincts. 

SEAL Team follows the professional and personal lives of the most elite unit of Navy SEALs as they train, plan and execute the most dangerous missions that our country can ask of them. David Boreanaz, Max Thieriot, Neil Brown Jr., AJ Buckley,Toni Trucks and Jessica Paré star.

Jaramillo co-stars as Michael ‘Riz’ Ariza in Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy spinoff Mayans M.C. His other recent TV credits include Wisdom of the Crowd, Lucifer, Dallas and a recurring role on Shades of Blue.

Danny Trejo to Star in the ABC Comedy Project “Food & Familia,” Inspired By His Life

Danny Trejo is bringing his life to the small screen, so to speak…

The 74-year-old Mexican American actor is  attached to star in an ABC comedy project that boasts Will Smith among its executive producers.

Trejo will star in and executive produce Food & Familia, which is currently in development at the network. The multi-camera comedy, is inspired by Trejo’s life. When the matriarch of the family passes away, she leaves her restaurant to her son, Danny (Trejo) – who’s about to get out of prison — and her granddaughter, Michelle, who hates her father for abandoning her. This gift from beyond the grave might heal the father and daughter and get them back together but, it’s gonna be rocky as the two of them work their differences out while trying to operate a restaurant, live together, and become a real family again.

Peter Murrietta will write and executive produce the project. Trejo and Smith will executive produce along with Caleeb Pinkett and James Lassiter of Smith’s Overbrook EntertainmentABC Studios will produce.

Should the project move forward, it would only be Trejo’s second series regular role, with the other being the short-lived George Lopez FX sitcom Saint George. Trejo is also known for his role in the Machete films as well as several other Robert Rodriguez films. His other TV roles include appearances on Sons of Anarchy, Rick & Morty, The Adventures of Puss in Boots, and From Dusk til Dawn: The Series. Trejo also opened his first restaurant, Trejo’s Tacos, in 2016 with multiple locations now open throughout Los Angeles. He also operates Trejo’s Coffee & Donuts and Trejo’s Cantina.

Murrietta most recently worked on the CBS comedy Superior Donuts. His other recent credits include One Day at a TimeLopez, and Cristela. Murrietta also won two Emmy awards for his time on the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place.

J.D. Pardo’s “Mayans M.C.” Earns Highest Rated Cable Series Premiere Honors

After a solid Live+same daydebut, the 38-year-old Argentine and Salvadoran American actor’s series Mayans M.C., FX’s Sons of Anarchy spinoff, drew 2.5 million Adults 18-49, up+84% from Live+same day, 2.8 million Adults 25-54 and and 1 million Adults 18-34 in Live+3, making it the highest rated cable series premiere of 2018 in the key demos.

It was the highest-rated cable drama series premiere in Adults 18-49 since January 2016.

Overall, the L+3 audience for Mayans‘ premiere telecast was 4.6 million, up 82% from LSD. It was FX’s most-watched series premiere since the February 2016 record-breaking opener of The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story in both Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers.

While the L+SD ratings for the Mayans M.C. debut was in line with the Sons of Anarchy premiere on September 3, 2008 (even in total viewers and down a notch in 18-49, Mayans pulled up in L3, which is to be expected given the difference in popularity of delayed viewing in 2006 and 2016. Mayans was up +46% in Adults 18-49 (2.5 million vs. 1.7 million) and +64% in Total Viewers (4.6 million vs. 2.8 million) from the comparable SOA numbers.

In addition, 19% of the premiere audience for Mayans M.C., which features a predominantly Hispanic cast, was Hispanic — the highest composition of any FX Networks series premiere.

Mayans M.C. was cable’s most-watched program last Tuesday in all key Adult and Men demos as well as Total Viewers, and the most-watched program on TV, inclusive of broadcast, in Adults 18-34, Men 18-34, and Men 18-49.

Jacob Vargas to Star on Netflix’s “Mr. Iglesias”

Jacob Vargas is making the grades

The 47-year-old Mexican-American actor has been cast as a series regular opposite Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias in Mr. Iglesias, Netflix’s upcoming comedy series from the comedian and Cristela co-creator/executive producer Kevin Hench.

In the comedy, Iglesias plays Gabe, a good-natured public high school teacher who works at his alma mater. He takes on teaching gifted but misfit kids to not only save them from being “counseled out” by a bully bureaucrat Assistant Principal, but also to help them unlock their full potential. 

Vargas will play Tony Medina, Gabe’s longtime best friend and fellow teacher at the high school.

FX Gives Series Order to Kurt Sutter’s “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff “Mayans MC,” Starring JD Pardo

FX has given a series order to Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy spinoff Mayans MC, starring the 37-year-old Argentine and Salvadoran American actor.

The network has given the series a 10-episode order and slated it for a 2018 premiere.

The series order comes after the pilot underwent a reshoot and recasting of some key roles. FX CEO John Landgraf expressed optimism for the future of the spinoff at last summer’s TCA, saying that he expected a pickup in about three months.

This is the latest FX drama to land a series order after retooling the pilot, joining such shows as Sons of Anarchy and Snowfall.

Co-created by Sutter and Elgin James and hailing from Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions, Mayans MC is the next chapter in Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy saga that was the highest-rated ongoing drama series in FX history. The Mayans were recurring and pivotal players in Sons of Anarchy throughout the show’s seven-year run.

Mayans MC is set in a post-Jax Teller world, where EZ Reyes (JD Pardo), fresh out of prison, is a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Now EZ must carve out his new outlaw identity in a town where he once was the golden boy who had the American Dream within his grasp.

The series also stars Edward James Olmos, Antonio Jaramillo, Richard Cabral and Emilio Rivera.

Raoul Trujillo to Star in FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” Spinoff Pilot “Mayans MC”

The 62-year-old part-Latino actor has landed a series regular role opposite Edward James Olmos and Michael Irby in Mayans MC, Kurt Sutter’s retooled Sons of Anarchy spinoff pilot for FX.

Set in the aftermath of Jax Teller’s death at the end of SoA’s seven-season run in 2014, Mayans MC will focus on the struggles of EZ Reyes (JD Pardo), a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border.

Trujillo will play Che “Taza” Romero, Vicepresidente of Mayans MC, Santo Padre Charter. As a longtime friend of Alvarez, he helped set up the Santo Padre chapter on the border. He’s hardened by the deterioration of his hometown, but an infinite source of wisdom to the club.

Trujillo, who starred in Sicario, can next be seen opposite Liam Neeson in Hard Powder, and in Hochelaga, Land of Souls directed by François Girard, Canada’s pick for the foreign-language Oscar race.

On the television side, he received a best supporting actor Critics’ Choice nomination for Nat Geo miniseries Saints & Strangers.

Norberto Barba to Direct Reshoot of FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” Spinoff Pilot “Mayans MC”

The 53-year-old Latino television and film director, a three-time Alma Award-nominee, will direct and executive produce the redo of Kurt Sutter’s FX Sons of Anarchy spinoff pilot Mayans MC.

The pilot is undergoing a reshoot and a recasting of some key roles, according to Deadline.

Sutter, who initially was planning to direct the pilot, will focus on writing and hand reshoot duties to Barba.

Recasting is underway, with production expected to begin in late summer.

Set in the aftermath of Jax Teller’s death at the end of SOA’s seven-season run in 2014, Mayans MC will focus on the struggles of EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border.

Barba served as executive producer/director on all six seasons of Grimm and most recently directed episodes of Preacher and The Strain.

His other television directing credits include Designated Survivor, Chicago Justice, Pure Genius, Ice and The Bridge.

The 50-year-old Argentine American actress has been cast opposite JD Pardo in Mayans MC, Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy spinoff pilot for FX.

Set in the aftermath of Jax Teller’s death at the end of SOA’s seven-season run in 2014, Mayans MC will focus on the struggles of Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (Pardo), a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California-Mexico border.

Obradors will play Marisol Reyes, the soulful matriarch of the Reyes family and EZ’s mother. Her rosary may be worn, but her righteous sense of justice remains vibrant. Edward James Olmos plays the Reyes clan’s patriarch.

Mayans MC was co-created by Sutter and Elgin James. Sutter is set to executive produce and direct the pilot; James is co-executive producer for Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.

Known for her role as Detective Rita Ortiz on ABC’s NYPD Blue, Obradors most recently did an arc on George Lopez’s TV Land comedy series Lopez.

The Mexican-American actor, who earned an Emmy nomination for his standout performance in American Crime, will co-star opposite JD Pardo in FX’s Mayans MC, Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy spinoff pilot.

Set in the aftermath of Jax Teller’s death at the end of SOA’s seven-season run in 2014, Mayans MC will focus on the struggles of Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (Pardo), a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border. EZ is the gifted son of a proud Latino family, whose American dream was snuffed out by cartel violence. Now, his need for vengeance drives him toward a life he never intended and can never escape.

Cabral will play Johnny “El Coco” Cruz, a full patch member of Mayans MC, Santo Padre. Former Army sharpshooter and weapons specialist, Johnny earned a section 8 for shooting a cigar out of his CO’s mouth from a half-mile away… while he was stoned.

In addition to Pardo, Cabral joins previously cast Edward James Olmos, John OrtizAntonio Jaramillo and Clayton Cardenas.

Mayans MC was co-created by Sutter and Elgin James. Sutter is set to executive produce and direct the pilot; James is co-executive producer for Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.

Cabral has recurred on all three seasons to date of ABC’s anthology drama American Crime, earning an Emmy nomination for his work in Season 1. Season 3 premieres March 12. Set in rural North Carolina, it centers around immigration and American labor issues.

Cabral also has a recurring role on Fox’s Lethal Weapon.

Trejo to Host El Rey Network’s Original Unscripted Series “Man at Arms”

The 72-year-old Mexican American actor will host El Rey Network’s upcoming original unscripted series Man at Arms.

Robert Rodriguez’s network is bringing the digital series to television in a co-production deal with Man at Arms’ creator DEFY Media.

In each episode, a team of expert craftsmen skillfully reproduce famed weapons and armor from scratch, using both the technology that would have been available at the time such weapons and armor were originally created, as well as state-of-the-art technologies.

Trejo, who starred in both From Dusk Till Dawn the film and El Rey’s series, will introduce each episode, preside over the expert roundtable of builders, historians and martial artists, and participate in the weapons testing phase to see how much destruction they can cause. The eight-part series is slated to premiere on the network in early June.

Trejo is most recognized as the character Machete, originally developed by Rodriguez for the Spy Kids series of movies that was later expanded into his own series of films.

Trejo’s other television work includes recurring roles on Sons of Anarchy and King of the Hill. He recently finished shooting Dead Again in Tombstone, the sequel to Dead in Tombstone, for Universal Pictures.
