J Balvin to Emcee This Year’s Beyond the Streets Virtual Art Fair

J Balvin is taking things beyond the streets… 

The 36-year-old Colombian singer/rapper will serve as the emcee for this year’s Beyond the Streets art fair, a celebration of graffiti and street art.

During the two-day virtual art fair, taking place on December 1 and December 2 on the NTWRK app, J Balvin will emcee different artwork drops and host various discussions with top artists.

“Balvin is a known art collector and has a clear vision for aesthetics. His home is a sanctuary where art is the protagonist, making him the perfect emcee for this year’s Beyond the Streets,” notes an official press statement.

Further expanding his partnership with the livestream shopping platform, Balvin’s integrated role will include daily episodes where he’ll be joined by Cleon Peterson, Beyond the Streets’ artistic director and L.A.-based photographer Estevan Oriol; in-depth art conversations with Peterson, Oriol, DABSMYLA, and Gustavo Zermeño Jr., that will dive deeper into today’s art landscape and the creative process behind their work; and exclusive limited-edition product releases by Balvin in collaboration with DABSMYLA.

This year’s Beyond the Streets, curated by graffiti historian Roger Gastman, will feature a lineup of artists, designers, and brands, including Bert Krak, CB Hoyo, DABSMYLA with Late Lunch, MADSAKI, Mike GIANT, Mister Cartoon, Takashi Murakami, POSE, Spacebrat and Wild Style with Vic Mensa, to name a few.

The virtual art festival, which is “mainstay for art fans and continues Gastman’s vision as a longtime champion of graffiti as a contemporary art form,” will also launch exclusive products across fine art, collectibles, apparel, and home goods.

The 28-year-old part-Mexican American singer will appear during the Vote With Us virtual rally, which is set to livestream on “Vote Early Day,” on Saturday, October 24th.

Lovato joins a roster of A-list participants that includes Justin Bieber, Mark Ruffalo and Vic Mensa.

Andra Day will also perform “Remember I Bleed” and the War and Treaty will cover John Lennon’s “Power to the People” during the three-hour event, which highlights early vote events in Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Phoenix.

The Vote for Us livestream will also show clips from the upcoming documentary Us Kids, featuring survivors of the Parkland school shooting-turned-activists Emma González, David Hogg, Jaclyn Corin, Samantha Fuentes, Bria Smith and Alex King.

“To vote is to harness your power, and we have to use the power that’s given to us,” Gonzalez said in a statement. “Don’t just vote for yourself, vote for every person; for every person whose basic rights are at risk, for every person who can’t vote because they are undocumented or incarcerated, for every person who is affected by the system and for every person who fought with everything they had just to give us the right to vote. Vote because you can. Vote because we haven’t always been able to.”

Organizers behind advocacy groups We Stand United, March On, Future Coalition, Us Kids Film (Sundance 2020), Black Voters Matter, M.O.B.B., Headcount, Vote Early Day, Future Coalition, All in for Voting, Pull Up Neighbor, Black Men Vote, Ballot Ready, Milk Studios, Collective Education Fund, APAI Vote, RepresentUs, League of Women Voters, The Early Vote, and Civic Power Media have united for the first time for the Vote With Us event, which aims to increase voter turnout among young voters.

“Young people are done watching older generations gamble our futures away for the sake of power,” said Katie Eder, Executive Director of Future Coalition, said in a statement. “We’ve spent much of 2020 making our message loud and clear in the streets, and we’re going to make it binding at the ballot box, too. After November 3, nobody will say anymore that young people don’t show up. We are showing up in record numbers and we are the ones who are about to decide the future of our country.”

The Vote With Us rally will livestream both at the official site and YouTube as well as partner coalitions’ social media pages on October 24th beginning 3:00 pm EST.

Lovato has upped her political voice in the last week, with the release of her Trump-bashing song “Commander In Chief.”

Cardi B Named to Forbes’ Hip-Hop’s Future Moguls List

The (hip-hop) future looks bright for Cardi B

The 25-year-old half-Dominican American rapper, who has a monstrous 2017 fueled by her Billboard Hot 100-topping single “Bodak Yellow,” has been named to Forbes magazine’s Hip-Hop’s Future Moguls list.

The list represents hip-hop’s new class of moneymakers, with Cardi B joining Post Malone, Lil Pump and 21 Savage as some of this year’s honorees.

Formerly known as Hip-Hop Cash Princes, Forbes renamed the original male-centered roundup o Hip-Hop Future Moguls as a push towards inclusivity and diversity, broadening this year’s criteria to include “age, ethnicity and gender,” making way for artists like Cardi B and Lizzo to appear on the list.

Cardi B enters the Hip-Hop Future Moguls list thanks to the success of breakout hit “Bodak Yellow,” which sat atop the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1 for three consecutive weeks and made the Bronx rapper the first female rapper to top the chart solo.

With her gargantuan hit “Bodak Yellow,” which clocked more than 400 million on-demand streams—the fifth highest total for any song this year—she’s now grossing $150,000 or so per city on the road.

Detroit rapper Lizzo and producer Wondagurl are also featured on the list.

Vic MensaPlayboi Carti and Lil Pump also make Forbes‘ list.

Cardi B Among Artists Taking Part in Roc Nation’s Hurricane Relief Fundraiser

Cardi B’s autograph will soon help people affected by this year’s hurricanes…

Roc Nation plans to raise money for the victims of the recent hurricanes that swept through Texas, Florida and the Caribbean, and they’ve called upon the 24-year-old part-Dominican American rapper to help.

The label management company has reportedly teamed up with One America Appeal and CharityBuzz, to host an auction of memorabilia from this year’s Made In America Festival signed by Cardi B, JAY-Z, J.Cole and more.

The pieces up for auction, are reportedly camouflage jackets that have the official, celebrity seal of approval on them. The Rocky jacket, which is estimated to be worth $3,000, includes handwritten signatures from JAY-Z, Migos, J. Cole and Pusha TOther jackets – Liberty, Freedom, and Tidal – will boast signatures from Cardi BVic Mensa21 SavageRun the Jewels and Stormzy.

Cabello to Appear on MTV’s Voter Registration Special “Total Registration Live”

The 19-year-old Cuban singer and Fifth Harmony member is set to appear on MTV’s Total Registration Live, an hourlong live special aimed at rallying Millennials to register to vote, on National Voter Registration Day, Tuesday, September 27 at 6:00 pm.

In addition to Cabello, who recently penned an essay about growing up an immigrant in the U.S., others scheduled to appear include Grammy-nominated R&B star and Respect My Vote! Ambassador, Ty Dolla $ign performing “Campaign.”

Additionally, the special will include appearances by model and Rock The Vote spokesperson Kendall Jenner, director, producer and writer Joss Whedon, rapper Vic Mensa, actress Natalia Dyer, actor and singer Mack Wilds, among others.

MTV’s Nessa who will host. Also on-hand will be MTV News’ Senior Political Correspondent Ana Marie Cox and Senior National Correspondent Jamil Smith.
