Swizz Beatz Releases Video for His New Lil Wayne & Alicia Keys Collaboration “Pistol on My Side”

Swizz Beatz is packin’ heat

The 40-year-old half-Puerto Rican hip-hoprapper, DJ and record producer, whose real name is Kasseem Dean, has released the scorching video to “Pistol on My Side,” his collaboration with Lil Wayne and Beatz’s wife Alicia Keys.

Swizz Beatz & Lil Wayne

Filmed at Lil Wayne’s skate park, Weezy is in full-force, thrashing doubters with his punchy delivery. “Pistol on my side, you don’t want that thing to scream at ya/ Laughin’ when you die, boy, my pistol a comedian (brr)/ Pistol on my side, now he lyin’ like the media/ Clips longer than encyclopedias, you’re readin’ ’em,” he raps.

While Beatz amplifies the track with his resounding ad-libs, Keys is found playing the piano in the flaming clip. As Wayne fires away the remaining bars from his loaded verse, Keys flips the track with her gloomy riffs, adding an exciting close to the fiery visual.

Not only did Swizz release his long-awaited video for “Pistol on My Side,” but he also announced the track list for his forthcoming album Poison.

Set to be released on November 2, Beatz enlisted Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Young Thug, Pusha T, The LOX and more for his first project in 11 years.

For the proverbial cherry on top, Beatz recruited J. Cole to serve as the project’s executive producer.

Miguel’s “War and Leisure” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart

Miguel is back at the top of the album charts…

The 32-year-old half-Mexican American R&B singer-songwriter has earned his second No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart (dated December. 23) as War and Leisure begins with 40,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending December 7, according to Nielsen Music.

Miguel

Miguel previously reigned with the one-week leader Kaleidoscope Dream in 2012.

Meanwhile, two of the album’s tracks make headway on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs: lead single “Sky Walker” (featuring Travis Scott) zooms 23-16, while “Come Through and Chill” (featuring J. Cole and Salaam Remi) debuts at No. 44.

The latter entry brings the singer to 20 charted hits since his debut, “All I Want Is You” started at No. 98 in July 2010.

Swizz Beatz in “Album Mode,” with a Possible Assist from J. Cole

Swizz Beatz is in the music zone…

The 39-year-old half-Puerto Rican hip hop recording artist and record producer may be cooking up sizzlingmusic in the studio with J. Cole, as evidenced by an eyebrow-raising Instagram photo.

J. Cole & Swizz Beatz

“Told you I’m in Album mode!!!!” the producer captioned a photo published on Tuesday (No. 21). “@realcoleworld good vibes and Magic Zone☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️ the graduation is over !!!”

There’s no word exactly on what the musicians, both adorned in black, could be working on. However, with a recent Harvard Business School degree under his belt, Swizz Beatz has lot of free time in his schedule.

His last full-length solo album, One Man Band Man, was released in 2007, and fans of both artists are surely hankering for new music.

Maldonado & Pentatonix Groupmates Remain Atop the Billboard 200 for Second Week

Kirstie Maldonado is still basking in the holiday spirit…

The 24-year-old half-Mexican, part Spanish-American singer and her fellow Pentatonix members spend a second week atop the Billboard 200 with their holiday album A Pentatonix Christmas.

Pentatonix

The set earned 101,000 equivalent album units in the week ending December 29, 2016 — the final tracking week of the calendar year.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

The closing tracking frame of 2016 includes the two days leading up to Christmas Day and the holiday itself, so it’s fitting that a Christmas album leads the tally.

While A Pentatonix Christmas’ total units earned for the week were down by 51 percent, its traditional album sales were greater than any other album: it sold 82,000 copies (down 55 percent), far ahead of the No. 2 selling set of the week, Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic, with 55,000 copies (down 39 percent).

A Pentatonix Christmas‘ handsome sales, along with small declines in SEA and TEA (down 12 and 10 percent, respectively), helps keep the album ahead of the No. 2 set on the Billboard 200, The Weeknd’s former No. 1 Starboy. The latter climbs one rung with 94,000 units (down only 7 percent).

Mars’ 24K Magic dips one slot to No. 3 with 81,000 units (down 29 percent), while J. Cole’s 4 Your Eyez Only is steady at No. 4 with 75,000 units (down 16 percent).

The original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton: An American Musical climbs two positions to No. 5 with 54,000 units (down 7 percent). This is the highest rank for the title in five months, since it also placed at No. 5 on the August 6, 2016-dated list. The album has so far peaked at No. 3 (July 2, 2016), following its 11 Tony Award wins on June 12.

The soundtrack to the animated film Moana jumps 10-6 on the new chart with 53,000 units (up 4 percent), while Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface vaults 15-7 with 52,000 units (up 37 percent). The latter album benefits from a $5.99 sale price in the Apple iTunes store, as well as promotion generated by the release of Twenty One Pilots’ new EP with MuteMathThe MuteMath Sessions, on Dec. 20. Overall sales of Blurryface were up by 23 percent to 33,000, while its download sales increased by a whopping 268 percent to 20,000.
